YOUR FIRST EVENTAfter you correctly installed your copy of the theme it is time to set up your first event. In

order to do so, you must go to WordPress Dashboard and on the left side menu click on

Events > Add Event. As soon as the page is loaded you can start filling the fields. Bellow

you can see a step by step guide how to create your first event.

STEP 1 EVENT TITLE

Enter you desired title in the default WordPress field and make sure you optimize your

permalink by clicking the edit button and removing any stop words.

STEP 2 EVENT DESCRIPTION

Enter a description using the default WordPress editor and/or the available Shortcodes. In

Photo Eventful we incorporated a bundle of layout Shortcodes and specific codes for each

custom post type such as: Events, Artists and Locations. For more on this topic please see

the Shortcodes chapter of this documentation.

STEP 3 EVENTS META BOX

After you entered the content it is time to direct your attention to the Events Meta Box.

Here you can see three tabs: Representations, Artists, Featured.

STEP 3.1 REPRESENTATIONS

wpEventful platform allows you to create a diversity of events. We will present to you

every option available so you can understand which is best suited for your specific needs.

To start you must press +Add New Representation link. This will add an event details box

with the following fields: Start Date / End Date / Duration / Ticket Price / Location and a

Facebook Button that allows you to quickly share the event with your followers and

friends.

STEP 3.2 ARTISTS

Another very important aspect of your event is represented by the people/artists involved.

They are the soul of your events and you may need to display them interconnected with

the locations they appear on, representations and contractors/organizers. With

wpEventful platform you can create roles for your artists using categories, show upcoming

representations and create a repertory for each individual with current and past events.

Not only you will be able to create very complex events oriented websites but you will do

this focusing on providing valuable content for your visitors by showing information that is

already there in multiple forms.

There are two ways to create artists for your events.

The first one is to simply go to Events Meta Box and click on Artists tab. This will display a

list of categories/roles for your artists and an input field. Add your artists name into theinput box and click on the plus button on the right. If your artist is already created it will

appear on the auto-suggest box bellow the input area. Since this is your first event we can

assume there are no artists created previously. Add as many artists as you need, one name

at a time. You dont need to worry about roles at this moment as you can modify this after

you publish your event. Also, when you publish your event, the new artists will be

automatically created for your and you can modify them from the Artists section in

WordPress Administration, accessible from the left side menu.

The second method to create your artists is by going to WordPress Dashboard and click

on Artists > Add Artist in the left hand menu. This will take you to a new page where you

can add the name of your artist in the title field, a description, featured image, set up the

categories that will act as roles, and configure many other features.

For a detailed step-by-step guide on how to create and modify your Artists please see Your

first artist section of this documentation.

Step 3.3 Featured Event

When you have a list of events you may wish to promote some of them. We wanted to offer

you the possibility to highlight certain events so we added in the Events Meta box a section

called Featured. If you activate this option your event will automatically be displayed on

front page slider and the thumbnails will have a small ribbon with the text Feat..

Step 4 Event Categories

One of the default features of WordPress is ability to organize your content in categories.

Events custom post-type in wpEventful gives you the possibility to group your events in

multiple categories. Also, if you need a new category, you can create one directly from the

Edit Event page.

Step 5 Featured Image

Another default WordPress option is the Featured Image Meta box. If you do not add an

image to your event, wpEventful will add a default "no-image" picture. Since WordPress

does such a good job to resize images we would only want to recommend you not to use

images bigger then 1400px width or to check the file upload limit on your server.

YOUR FIRST ARTISTOne of the key aspects of wpEventful platform is that it allows you add artists/people to

your events. If you wish to create events such as conferences, concerts, shows, movies,

galleries, theater plays, trainings, etc. you will need to add those persons that make your

event interesting and appealing to the audience. No matter what kind of people your event

involves, you can add them in a dynamic way with wpEventful platform. You can assign

roles by creating specific categories for each artist, date of birth, gender and website. Also,

you can highlight certain artists from your database by using the featured options available

in Add New Artist page.

In the section Your First Event, you discovered how easy it is to create a new artist directly

from Add New Event page and now we will present to you a second, more in-depth method

that will permit you to take advantage of all the features available for the Artists custom

post type.

You will need to start from the left side menu in you WordPress Dashboard by clicking on

Artists > Add Artist link. This will open the Add New Artist page and all you have to do is

follow the next steps:

Step 1 Artist Name

In the title field enter the name of your artist.

Step 2 Artist Description

Next you can add a description of your artist using either the default WordPress formatting

tools or by taking advantage of the powerful Shortcodes you will discover in the Shortcodes

Meta box. To find out more about the Layout Shortcodes and those created especially for

the Artists custom post-type, please see the Shortcodes section of this documentation.

Step 3 Artist Meta Box

Go to the Artist Meta box and fill the available fields. Under Artists Information tab you will

be able to enter info about the artists date of birth, gender and his/her website. All these

details will appear in the Artist Details Shortcode. If you click on the Featured tab, you will

be able to highlight that artist on your website. If you miss or simply dont want to

complete any or part of this information wpEventful will just ignore those blank fields.

Step 4 Artist Categories

Categories in Artists custom post-type were designed to give you the possibility to add

roles to your artists. For example, if you wish to add a list of people involved into a theater

play, you will need to differentiate actors from extras, directors, producers, musicians or

dancers. All you have to do is to create categories for each occupation and allocate each

artist to his/her specific category. You can allocate multiple roles to each artist and in every

event you will be able to select a specific role or multiple roles. Lets take the above

example and go forward and say that you have two theater plays; the ARTIST X is a director

in PLAY 1. In PLAY 2, ARTIST X is the director and one of the actors. wpEventful will

display both categories to the artist page (director and actor) but for each event willdisplay only the allocated role. Also, if you need a new category, you can create one directly

from the Add/Edit Artist page or go into the left hand menu and click on Artist > Artist

Categories.


Featured Image Meta box is a default WordPress option. If you do not upload an image to

your artist, wpEventful will usually add a default "no-image" picture. Since WordPress


images bigger than 1400px width or to check the file upload limit on your server.

YOUR FIRST LOCATIONLocation is an important feature of wpEventful because it gives your visitors important

information about the place where an event will take place. Using our platform you will be

able to add a unique location to every representation of your events, group your places into

categories and even define parent locations to facilitate the display of the different

spaces/rooms/halls that might be available.

You will need to start from the left side menu in you WordPress Dashboard by clicking on

Locations > Add Location link. This will open the Add New Location page and all you have

to do is follow the next steps:

Step 1 Location Name

In the title field enter the name of your location.

Step 2 Location Description

Next you can add a description of your location using either the default WordPress

formatting tools or by taking advantage of the powerful Shortcodes you will discover in the

Shortcodes Meta box. To find out more about the Layout Shortcodes and those created

especially for the Location custom post-type, please see the Shortcodes section of this

documentation.

Step 3 Location Meta Box

Go to the Location Meta box and fill the available fields. Under Address tab you will be able

to enter the exact address of your location in order to display it on a Google Map. All

information you enter under the General Information Tab will appear in the Location

Details Shortcode. If you click on the Featured tab, you will be able to highlight that location

on your website. If you miss or simply dont want to complete any or part of this

information wpEventful will just ignore those blank fields.

Step 4 Location Categories

You can group your locations into categories using the default WordPress functionality.

Also, if you need a new category, you can create one directly from the Add/Edit Location

page or go into the left hand menu and click on Locations > Location Categories.

Step 5 Location Options

Here you can add the current location to a parent venue. This will allow you to display

different spaces/rooms/halls available to one main location.

YOUR FIRST PORTFOLIO ITEMWith wpEventful you can choose to create portfolios as independent custom posts without

using the events management structure. This adds more flexibility to your website and

allows you to use the theme for presentation purposes only.

Step 1 Portfolio Name

In the title field enter the name of your portfolio.

Step 2 Portfolio Description

Next you can add a description of your portfolio item using either the default WordPress

formatting tools or by taking advantage of the powerful Shortcodes you will discover in the

Shortcodes Meta box. To find out more about the Layout Shortcodes and those created

especially for the Portfolio custom post-type, please see the Shortcodes section of this

documentation.

Step 3 Portfolio Meta Box

Go to the Portfolio Meta box and fill the available fields as following:

General tab: You can add a website URL, clients name and the date of completion for this

project.

Featured tab: Highlights this portfolio item on the front end of your website.

Step 4 SEO Meta Box

wpEventful platform offers you the possibility to customize a bundle of aspects of your

website through different techniques. In order to increase the visibility of your portfolio

items on search engines, we added the SEO Meta box where you can modify the default

description and add specific keywords. Every keyword must be comma separated. These

options will increase the relevance of every event and add more juice to your content.

Step 5 Portfolio Categories

You can group your portfolio items into categories using the default WordPress

functionality.

Also, if you need a new category, you can create one directly from the Add/Edit Portfolio

page or go into the left hand menu and click on Portfolios > Portfolios Categories.

DWS CONFIGURATION PANEL

All premium themes come with advanced options to customize various aspects of your WordPresswebsite. We took this in consideration and we created our own configuration platform that will

enable you to change colors, fonts, layouts, custom texts, and so much more. As you will see in the

following chapters DWS Configuration Panel offers you endless possibilities to format and design

you website.

General SettingsYOUR LOGO / LOGO TYPE / LOGO HTML

These options allow you to choose between html or image logo. If you select Your Logo you

must also upload a .png transparent file. Logo HTML option will display the title of your

website in an html format.

CUSTOM TEXT

In this text area you can add a custom html that will be displayed in a special box on your

website. If you leave this field empty, the box will not be shown.

CONTACT INFO

Insert your email, phone number and address. This information will be displayed on your

front-end site so use only public information.

COPYRIGHT

COPYRIGHT INFO

Insert your custom copyright text. This field will display html code in the footer bar before

Developer Link information.

DEVELOPER LINK

Insert your developer website or any information about the customization of your

theme. This field will display html code in the footer bar next to copyright

information.

MISC. OPTIONS

DISPLAY ADS IN SIDEBAR

If you click to activate this option, you will be able to display the advertising code you have

inserted in the field below - Advertising Code.

ADVERTISING CODE

Here you can insert a wide variety of advertising codes, from simple banner links to

AdSense code in order to monetize your website.

We recommend you to use responsive code to display your ads.

ANALYTICS CODE

This will be used in the header to help you track your visitors.

404 - PAGE NOT FOUND CUSTOM TEXT

By default, out themes have a 404 error message. Using this field will allow you to change

the text/html code you will display to your visitors on error pages.

Appearance

This menu allows you to customize the colors, fonts, links and backgrounds across your website.

These are generic features that will affect your entire website.

SELECT THEMEWe created a couple of pre-defined themes that can be altered using the options bellow.

FONTS

PRIMARY FONT

This option is used to set the font of your entire website.

SECONDARY FONT

This option is used to set the font used for titles, menus and headings across your website.

COLORS

BACKGROUND COLOR:

Here you can set the color of the background for the content area of your website.

PRIMARY COLOR

The primary color is the color of the text content.

SECONDARY COLOR

Secondary color is used to set contrast elements through-out the theme.

THIRD COLOR

This option allows you to add more color diversity to your text content.

LINES COLOR

Lines Color allows you control the color of borders, lines and other spacers.

CUSTOM CSSThis text area field will allow you to create custom CSS in order to further customize your theme.

Just find the class you want to modify and enter de adequate CSS to change the style. We

recommend you to use this method for altering CSS code rather than modifying the style files. This

way you will be able to update your theme to the latest version without over writing your custom

modifications.

Layouts

With DWS Configuration Panel was created to give you maximum flexibility and it allows you to

modify the layout of each section of your website as following:

HOMEPAGE / EVENTS / ARTISTS / LOCATIONS / PORTFOLIO / BLOG / PAGES

HOMEPAGEHere you have two main options:

Classic layout with multiple columns for each custom post type Slider layout that shows only the featured events on your homepage in a carousel

Each custom post type allows you to define a unique background as following:

1. Full screen image

Upload an image in Vegas Slider Images section and the theme will display stretch it on full

screen.

For more customization of jQuery Vegas background slider, please see chapter Slider Options

of this documentation.

2. Full screen slider

If you wish to display a slider on the background of your page just click on Add More Images

link in Vegas Slider Images section and upload multiple images. By doing so, the theme will

automatically add a jQuery Vegas slider on your front end page.

3. Textured background

If you wish to use a textured background or a pattern image upload an image using Texture

image upload form then select the Repeat texture attribute that is more adequate to your

need.

4. Solid color background

Sometimes less is more so we added a solid color option in case you dont want an image, a

slider or a texture as your page background.

In order to correctly display your desired background, please make sure that the otherfields are empty. For example if you wish a textured background remove any images Vegas

Slider Images section by clicking the Remove Image link.

EVENTS / ARTISTS / LOCATIONS / PORTFOLIO / BLOG / PAGESAll these custom post types have the same layout options that can be configured differently in order

to allow you the ability to set completely different layouts or use the same layout for each page. The

choice is yours.

Select Archive and Taxonomy Pages Layout will permit you to set the general layout of the

archive and taxonomy pages of each custom post type using three options: no sidebar, with the

sidebar aligned on the left or with the sidebar aligned on the right. Depending on what option you

select there will be up to 7 different subsidiary layouts to choose from. This will give you hundreds

of variations through-out the theme in order to create a unique look for your website.

Also, using the Select Archive and Taxonomy Pages Top Post options you can add a slider to thetop of your every archive / taxonomy page. These sliders will display only featured posts.

Select Single Layout option will allow you to choose between three layout options for your single

custom posts: no sidebar, with the sidebar aligned on the left or with the sidebar aligned on the

right.

this documentation.

Each custom post type allows you to define a unique background as following:

Slider options

This section of DWS Configuration Panel allows you to tweak different aspects of the sliders

available on you theme. The Background Slider uses jQuery Vegas plug-in and the Top Post Slideruses the Flexslider by WooThemes .

DWS Configuration Panel allows you to display six social network icons on the front end of your

website that are linked to your Social Accounts.

Email and Subject information provided here will be used to send emails to you from the Contact

form. These are mandatory fields.

SEO & Languages

These days a good website is all about the SEO tools and the possibilities you have to create unique

content targeting your market and your audience in an efficient way. In DWS Configuration Panelyou are able to customize the slugs (that will create your custom URLs) and set specific description

and keywords for each custom post type. Using these features along with the SEO options available

for each post you will be able to customize every page of your website accordingly to your specific

needs in terms of Search Engine Optimization and content. Another feature under this tab is the

option to select the Site Language. To find out more about how you can add more languages, please

read the chapter Localization of this documentation.

LOCALIZATIONAlthough WordPress displays in U.S. English by default, the software has the built-in capability to be

used in any language. All our themes allow you to add a translation using Localization feature. So, i f

you wish to add other languages just create the appropriate language file with software like POEdit .

After translation just upload .MO and .PO files to /language/ directory of your theme.

SHORTCODESwpEventful platform offers you the possibility to easily customize both the layout of your

content and the information you can display for your visitors using Layout Shortcodes.

All Shortcodes can be easily inserted in your WordPress editor through the Shortcodes

Meta box.

Layout Shortcodes

SHORTCODE SHORTCODE DESCRIPTION

ACCORDIONS You can easily create accordions in a multitude of styles and sizes. Usingthe Accordions Shortcode you can create specification lists, FAQs or anyother content that needs interactive lists.

BLOCK QUOTES AND SPECIALBOXES

With block quotes and boxes you can redirect viewers attention tocertain content areas. You have the ability to select between three typesof block quotes and four special boxes. Using these Shortcodes withcolumns options you can create hundreds of layout variations.

COLUMNS With columns Shortcodes you can create a unique layout for each page.You can use these Shortcodes in order to format any kind of content: text,

images, lists, tables, videos, etc. You can combine these in a bunch of possibilities. Bellow you can see simple text column in action:

DROPCAPS You can use these six Dropcaps Shortcodes to lead your viewers, usually,into a paragraph.

HEADINGS Using headers you can style in a canonical way your content and attract viewers attention to important sections of your pages. You can use H1 H6 heading in various contexts.

HIGHLIGHTS If you need to attract viewers eyes on a specific area of text, you can useHighlights Shortcode. You can set four different kinds of highlights w/ocolored background.

IMAGE EFFECTS Using Images Shortcode you can apply four kinds of effects on yourimages. Using these features you will improve the design of yourwebpage.

LISTS Your copy of the theme offers you eight different list styles: SimpleArrow, Black Arrows, Stars, Pluses, Horizontal Bars, Dots, Down Arrowsand Checks. Using columns Shortcodes you can group lists by length,combine them with other content such as images, text and/or video.Bellow you can see simple lists in action.

MISCELLANEOUS- TEASER

Miscellaneous Teaser Shortcode adds a special paragraph. This is idealfor highlighting a catch phrase or a glimpse of your article. It is best touse this option at the beginning of your post.

SLIDESHOW Another great way to display Image content on your page, beside

galleries, is a slideshow. Slideshows are also extremely flexible lettingyou customize options such as speeds, animations and opacity.

SPACERS In order delimitate content through-out the page, you can select betweentwo options: Horizontal Line Spacer and Div Spacer. The first option addsa horizontal line inside you content area and the second option gives youmore space between paragraphs, when used.

TABLES You can choose between three table styles when you need to present various data such as reports, statistics or any other kind of content. Just insert your table inside of the appropriate Shortcodes in order to style

your tables.

These Shortcodes can be used in many variations and combinations accordingly to your

needs and expectations. In order to take advantage of these new features we added a new

meta-box called Shortcodes available in Posts, Pages, Events, Locations, Artists, etc. You

simply have to select the required option and you will be guided step by step.

We advise you to insert your Shortcodes using the method described above in order to

avoid scripts related errors. Also, it is best that you have a basic understanding of HTML.

Sidebars

Events Sidebar - can be found in Events Custom Post Type related pages such as Events

Archives, Events Categories and Single Event.

Artists Sidebar - can be found in Artists Custom Post Type related pages such as Artists

Archives, Artists Categories and Single Artist.

Locations Sidebar - can be found in Locations Custom Post Type related pages such as

Locations Archives, Locations Categories and Single Locations.

Portfolios Sidebar - can be found in Portfolios Custom Post Type related pages such as

Portfolios Archives, Portfolios Categories and Single Portfolios.

Blog Sidebar - is used in blog sections and default pages.

Widgets

DWS Custom Categories - you can select the custom post type you need to create a

categories list (Events/Locations/Artists/Portfolios). This widget can be used in all

sidebars.

DWS Details this widget displays the custom information for custom post types. It works

only for the all the theme custom post types and it is only being displayed in the single

page. The details displayed by this widget are:

- Artists: the artist day of birth, the artist gender, the artist website

- Locations: location phone number, location website, location ticket office schedule,

location map

- Portfolios: portfolio website, portfolio client, portfolio completion date

DWS Display Advertising - displays advertising from the code inserted in Eventful

Options page.

DWS Events Representations A slider with the future event representation for the event

loaded in the single page. This widget works in the events, artists, locations single pages.

DWS Featured Artist - displays the latest featured artist with picture, title and short

description.

DWS Featured Events - its a list of the latest Upcoming Events that can be displayed in all

sidebars. The list contains Event's image, title and the date of the event.

DWS Featured Image - displays the featured image, if available, on any single post type.

DWS Featured Location - displays a list of featured locations depending on the count that

was set in the widget settings. This widget can be displayed in all sidebars.

DWS Location Sub-locations displays the list of all the sub locations of a location. It can

only be used in the locations single page.

MENUS & NAVIGATIONEventful - Events Premium WordPress Theme - comes with a couple of modifications to the

original WordPress menu system in order to facilitate the use of features such as Events,

Artists and Locations (Custom Posts Type). See image below:

In order to customize your website's main menu you must go to administration, left-hand

menu, click on Appearance > Menus. In order to insert into your menu the main features

(Events/Locations/Artists) you must go to Custom Post Types box and click on all options

(Locations/Events/Artists/Portfolios). When you are finished press the "Add to menu"

button and the selected custom post types will be added to your menu (right panel).

To add sub-navigation to your custom post types just go to Location Categories, Event Categories, Artist Categories, Portfolios Categories and click on the categories you want to

add to the menu. After you select all your desired categories, go to the right side panel and

move your categories (drag-and-drop) under the adequate Custom Post Type. After you

are finished just press on Save Menu button and go to your website and check the new

menu.

Another thing you should be aware is that in our themes Default Posts are used as Blog

Items. So, the Categories box in this section will refer to Blog Categories.

In order to set-up a link in your menu to your blog we recommend the following method:

In administration go to the Left-Hand Menu and click on Pages>Add New. Enter the title of

your blog (ex. My Blog) and then go to the Page Attributes panel and at the Select Template

box choose "Blog Template".

Click on the Publish button and return to Appearance>Menus. Here, go to the Pages panel

and select My Blog and press the Add to Menu button; then go to Categories and click onthe blog categories you want to add to the menu. When you are finished click the Add to

Menu button and go to the right-hand panel to arrange the newly added categories under

"My Blog" item. When you are ready, just press "Save Menu" and go to your website to

check the new menu.

If one or more panels referred in this documentation are not initially available, click on

Screen Options and select them by checking the adequate checkbox.

All the themes are coded and validated with HTML5 and CSS3.

Main styles are defined in style.css file. The file is well commented and every individual section is

marked at the beginning and at the end with:

If you wish to modify the style of your theme we highly recommend you to use the options available

in the DWS Configuration Panel. This way you will be able to update your theme to the latest

Our themes are coded using features such as Custom Posts Types and Taxonomies available in

WordPress. It has a complicated file system in order to incorporate a variety of features and to offer

a complex yet intuitive events manager system. Please refrain from modifying the structure or code

if you are not well familiarized with PHP/HTML/Java/WordPress and chapter Files & Hierarchy of

this documentation.

In Photoshop directory you will find a couple of files that will help you modify the default design of

PhotoEventful Theme. The main file is 01-PhotoEventful.psd ant there you will be able to edit

specific areas of the theme such as header, footer, body.
