Upgrade to face roads, and weather protection

De Luca was engaged by Brisbane Airport Corporation to install weather protection canopies across two face roads at the Domestic Terminal Building, Brisbane Airport. The project also included the upgrade of existing shelters at the Ternimal Bus Stop and Taxi Ranks.

Due to the busy, non-stop nature of the Brisbane Airport, we were required to complete all construction work in off-peak hours daily, between 11pm and 4am. The project scoped multiple fronts and was set over three stages to ensure disruptions to the terminal were kept to a minimum.

Stage one included the upgrade to the taxi ranks at the Macleay Way / Southern end of the Virgin Australia domestic check-in terminal, ensuring adequate weather coverage for all patrons to the airport. Stage 2 also included weather proof upgrades to the taxi rank in front of the Macleay Way / Northern end of the Qantas terminal, and in addition the upgrade of a bus shelter. Stage 3 saw weather proof awnings installed and connected to the Domestic Terminal all the way from the car park through the middle of the Domestic Terminal.

To aid the easy flow of pedestrian traffic and for visibility, bright yellow and orange colour coded cladding throughout, indicating travel options for all patrons to the airport.
