1 - PRESENTATION

3 - QUALITE DES COMPOSANTS

3-1 Le rail est en acier galvanis. Les manchons, lments defixation et boulonnerie sont en acier zingu.

3-2 Le service qualit de PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL procdesur chaque lot de composants, des contrles et essais derupture conformment aux exigences des procdures validespar sa certification ISO 9002.

1-1 The mobile anchorage device allows a person to movearound safely on a horizontal line without needing to unhook; itconsists of a fixed installation and a mobile individualequipment.

2 -REFERENCE TO STANDARDS

2-1 The Hercule system is in conformity with standard EN795class D concerning anchorage devices. The certifiedorganization APAVE has issued conformity certificate No.97.6.0228.

3 -COMPONENT QUALITY

3-1 The rail is of galvanized steel. The sleeves, attaching partsand hardware are of zinc-plated steel.

3-2 The PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL quality department, oneach batch of components, carries out checks and tests tobreakage in conformity with the requirements of the proceduresconfirmed by ISO 9002 certification.

POSITIONNEMENT DU RAIL :

Le systme Hercule doit imprativement tre install audessus de lutilisateur et ne tolre aucune inclinaison.Pour limiter tout risque daccident d a leffet pendulaireil convient de positionner le rail la verticale de la zonede travail.

Le choix du positionnement du rail doit tre guid par :

* Le type de travaux effectuer* La zone de dplacement* Laccs au systme* Lespace de dgagement au niveau infrieur

FIXATIONS:

Les lments de fixation doivent tre conus en fonctionde la structure sur laquelle ils se fixent. Il doivent tredfinis par un bureau dtudes comptent. Il convient defournir, pour leur dfinition, toutes les informationstechniques, y compris les plans concernant la structuredaccueil (nature des matriaux, rsistance structurelle).

il existe diffrentes pattes de fixation adaptes chaquetype de montage (mural ou plafond) ou de structure(mtallique, bton... )

RAIL POSITIONING:

It is essential to install the Hercule system above the user. Itwill not tolerate any inclination. To minimize risks of accidentdue to the pendular effect, the rail must be placed verticallyabove the working area.

The choice of rail position should be guided by:* the type of work to be performed* the area of movement* access to the system* the clear space to the lower level

ATTACHMENTS:

The attaching parts must be designed according to thestructure on which they are mounted. They must be definedby a competent design office. For their definition, it isnecessary to supply all technical information includingdrawings concerning the receiving structure (types ofmaterials, structural strength).

There are different attaching lugs adapted to each type ofassembly (wall or ceiling) or structure (metal, concrete).

The Hercule system is a permanent mobile anchorage point designed to protectpersons during work at height while ensuring great freedom of movement.

The carriage (ref. AN 200) slides over the rail (ref. AN 201) attached permanentlyto the working area. The user can move along the rail in total safety.

The use of a Hercule system with a retractable type fall arrester (type JRC) ora flexible anchorage line (COBRA type) also provides for vertical movement.

1 - MISE EN OEUVRE

1-1 Une tude pralable savre indispensable, soit par

reconnaissance des lieux et le mtr, soit par la fourniture de plansprcis et contractuels. Aprs tude de ces paramtres, le ServiceTechnique de PROTECTAINTERNATIONAL dtermine les modesdimplantation, de fixation et dutilisation.

Cette tude prend en compte la normalisation en vigueur. Un devisestimatif sera tabli, accompagn dun schma de principe et nedeviendra une offre dfinitive quaprs acceptation du dossier parles parties concernes. Un dossier de plan de linstallation et notesde calcul pourront tre fournis. Il appartient au contractant desassurer de la conformit des plans et documents fournis auxspcifications du site.

1-2 MONTAGE SUR SITE

Les monteurs de PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL ou ses

installateurs agrs hautement qualifis, effectueront cette phasemontage. Les consignes dhygine et scurit seront appliquesconformment aux textes en vigueur, et des contraintes applicablesau site. Un planning de montage sera coordonn entre le servicemontage de PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL et le client, en fonctiondes impratifs lis linstallation.

1-3 ESSAIS DE RECEPTION APRES MONTAGE

Procdure : Un test de bon fonctionnement est ralis aprs lemontage par lquipe de pose, et en prsence des utilisateurs. Cetest est compris dans le march. Il consiste vrifier le boncoulissement du chariot dans son support. Cette action se fera danstous les cas.

1-4 ESSAIS DE RECEPTION ET CONTROLE

Les supports dassurage Hercule pourront tre contrls par toutOrganisme Agr ou par PROTECTAINTERNATIONAL; Dans tousles cas, ces contrles seront chiffrs hors clauses du march initial,suivant la procdure souhaite par le contractant. En cas dedtrioration de composants, la remise en tat et/ou leremplacement des pices dfectueuses seront facturs aprs

tablissement dun devis.

RAPPEL Suivant les normes en vigueur, un essai est concluantlorsque la charge est retenue. Les dformations de tout ou partiedquipement sont acceptes.

Il sera ralis avec du matriel conforme la Norme NF EN 364 etleffort pris en compte ne pourra excder 600 daN. Cet essai est

destructif, les composants soumis effort devront tre changs.

ATTENTION : Si le dispositif dancrage HERCULE participe larrt dune chute, il devra tre vrifi et certains composantsdevront tre changs.

1 - USE

1-1 A preliminary study is absolutely indispensable, either via a visit

to the site with measurement-taking, or the supply of precisecontractual drawings. After study of these parameters, thePROTECTA INTERNATIONAL Technical Department determinesthe procedures of installation.

This study will take into account the directives in force. An estimatewill be drawn up accompanied by a basic diagram, and will becomea final and definitive offer once the file has been accepted by bothparties. An installation sketch and calculations notes can beprovided. It is up to the contracting party to ensure conformity to sitespecifications of the drawings and documents.

1-2 ON-SITE INSTALLATION

PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL installers or its highly-qualified

approved installers will carry out this installation phase. Hygiene andsafety instructions will be applied in accordance with the texts inforce, and the constraints applicable to the site. An installationschedule will be drawn up in co-ordination between the PROTECTAINTERNATIONAL installation service and the customer, dependingon the parameters and requirements specific to the site.

1-3 ACCEPTANCE TEST AFTER INSTALLATION

Procedure: Acorrect operating test is carried out after installation bythe installation team, in the presence of the users. This test isincluded in the contract and consists in verifying the correctfunctioning of the HERCULE device from one end of the line to theother and back again. This action is required in all cases.

1-4 ACCEPTANCE AND CONTROL TEST

Lifelines can be inspected by any Approved Organisation or byPROTECTA INTERNATIONAL. In all cases, these inspections willbe quoted outside of the clauses of the initial contract, inaccordance with the procedure desired by the contracting party. Inthe event of the deterioration of parts, repair and/or replacement ofdefective parts will be billed after an estimate has been drawn up.

REMINDER: In accordance with the standards in force, a test isconclusive when the load is held. Deformations on all or part of theequipment are accepted.

This test will be carried out with equipment in compliance withstandard NF EN 364; the stress taken into account must not exceed

600 daN. This test is destructive.

WARNING: If the fall arrester HERCULE is subject to a fall, itwill have to be returned to the manufacturer to be repared.

2- CLAUSES TECHNIQUES PARTICULIERES

ainsi que la nature des pices spciales. (poteaux, supportsspciaux, ensemble de bridage, matire de ces pices et leurprotection)

2-2 CONDITIONS DE MONTAGES SPECIAUXCes clauses particulires seront dfinies pour des raisonsclimatiques, des impratifs de production, des dangers particuliers,des accs inexistants, des conditions spciales de manutention etde levage, ainsi que des interventions sur site, hors horaires detravail et jours chms.

3 - LIMITE DUTILISATION

3-1 La rsistance du support tant directement lie la qualit dusupport, la conformit ne pourra tre tablie que si le(s)matriau(x), constituant celui-ci, est(sont) exempt(s) de tout vice defabrication ou de chute de performance dpendante de sa mise enoeuvre ou de son utilisation. (vieillissement, surcharge, attaques

chimiques ou climatiques, etc...)3-2 La conformit du dispositif HERCULE nest assure que si sonutilisation est soumise lemploi de matriel dassujettissement(longe, harnais), possdant le marquage CE et utilisconformment aux recommandations du fabricant.

3-3 Les pices et accessoires ainsi que la position et la qualit despoints dancrage seront rigoureusement ceux, dcrits et prconissdans ltude effectue par PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL.

3-4 Le montage du systme ne pourra tre fait que par PROTECTAINTERNATIONAL ou ses installateurs agrs.

3-5 Le dispositif dancrage HERCULE sert protger un intervenantcontre les chutes, et permet dtre utilis comme systme desuspension.

4 - GARANTIE

Le dispositif dancrage HERCULE est garanti contre tout vice defabrication ou de pose, pendant 1 an, il est conseill de faire vrifiercelui-ci soit par Protecta ou un installateur agre, une fois par an.

LIMITE DE GARANTIELa garantie ne sapplique pas :* aux matriaux du support* aux pices dtriores, suite un essai de qualification*au montage, lorsque la ligne nest pas pose par PROTECTAINTERNATIONAL ou ses installateurs agrs* au montage, lorsquil a t tabli sur des plans ou desinformations errons.

5 - ENTRETIEN

5-1 Le dispositif dancrage HERCULE ne demande aucun entretienparticulier. Cependant, dans le cas dune installation en milieu

particulirement poussireux, il est recommand de nettoyer le railet les clisses pour faciliter le dplacement.

5-2 IMPERATIF Aprs une chute, le systme HERCULE, ainsi quelquipement individuel mobile ayant servi arrter celle-ci, doiventtre obligatoirement vrifis par un technicien de PROTECTAINTERNATIONAL ou un installateur agr. Il sera alors tabli undevis de remise en tat, aprs constat de dgradations ventuelles.

2 - SPECIAL TECHNICAL CLAUSES

2-1 SPECIALANCHORAGE DESIGNA technical descriptive will be drawn up specifying the system to be

used, together with the nature of the special parts (posts, specialsupport structures, clamping assembly, material of these parts andtheir protection).

2-2 SPECIALASSEMBLY CONDITIONSThese special clauses will be defined for weather conditions,production imperatives, specific danger, non-existent accesses,special handling and lifting conditions, together with all on-siteinterventions, outside of working hours and holidays.

3 - LIMIT OF USE

3-1 As the strength of the support is directly dependant to the qualityof the support structure, conformity can only be established if thematerial of the support structure is free from any manufacturingdefects or a drop in performance directly to its assembly or use(ageing, overload, chemical or climatic erosion, etc...).

3-2 Conformity of the HERCULE system is only ensured if the useruses fall protection equipments (harness), having the EC marking,used in compliance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

3-3 Parts and accessories together with the position and quality ofthe anchorage points are strictly those described and recommendedin the study carried out by PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL.

3-4 The system is only to be assembled by PROTECTAINTERNATIONAL or its approved installers.

3-5 The lifeline protects an operator against falls, and can be usedas a suspension system (ig : horizontal movement for handlingequipment).

4 - WARRANTY

The HERCULE lifeline is guaranteed against all manufacturing orinstallation defects for a period of 1 year, it is recommanded that theinstallation is to be inspected once a year, by Protecta or anauthorized installer.

LIMIT OF WARRANTYThe warranty does not apply to:. support equipment. deteriorated parts caused by a qualification test. when the line is not installed by PROTECTAINTERNATIONAL orits approved installers. installation, when it has been carried out on erroneous drawingsor informations.

5 - MAINTENANCE

5-1 The HERCULE lifline requires no special maintenance.Nevertheless, in the event the line is installed in a particularly dustyenvironment, we advise cleaning the rail and all the junction link for

a good functionning of the system.

5-2 IMPERATIVE After a fall, the HERCULE system, together withthe personal protective equipment having been used to arrest the fallmust be verified by a PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL technician or anauthorized installer. In the event of eventual degradation, a repairestimate will be drawn up.

Supports de fixationIls permettent la solidarisation du rail lastructure. Lespacement entre deux supports defixation ne doit pas dpasser 1 mtre. Diffrentstypes de supports sont disponibles afin depourvoir tout type de configuration.

Support de fixation souder (AN204)Permet linstallation dun systme hercule surune structure mtallique. Les supports defixation seront directement souds sur lastructure.

HERCULE mobile trolley (AN200)This is a mobile anchorage point. The Herculetrolley slides within a special rail on a straightline or on a curve. Can be used with an

energy absorber lanyard, a retractable type fallarrester or a flexible anchorage line to allowextensive vertical movements.

Straight rail (AN201)The rails provide Hercule anchorage devicewith a totally linear support allowing the trolleyto slide smoothly. Several rails can be placedend to end and connected by sleeves.

Curved rail (AN202)A corner (internal or external) can be formedusing a curved rail. Several bends can bemade using the same system.

Connecting sleeve (AN203)The straight or curved rail sections areconnected together by connection sleeves.Attachments are by 8 attaching bolts.

Attaching supportsThese supports are designed for connectingthe rail to the structure. The interval betweentwo supports must not be greater than 1 meter.Different types of supports are available toprovide for every configuration.

Welded attaching support (AN204)Used for installing a Hercule system on a metalstructure. The attaching supports are weldeddirectly onto the structure.

Ceiling attaching support (AN205)Used for installing a Hercule system directly ona building ceiling.
