Learning requirement and academic standards Math All students in grades sixth, seventh, and eighth are required to score a level III or higher on the FCAT 2.0 Math test. Any student who does not achieve a level III or higher will need to attend remedial math in order to boost their mathematical understandings in order to achieve academic success. Reading All students in grades sixth, seventh, and eighth are required to score a level III or higher on the FCAT 2.0 Reading test. Any student who does not achieve a level III or higher will need to attend remedial math in order to boost their Reading skills and comprehension in order to achieve academic success. 4. Things to improve Reading Sixth grade reading is 19% below the state average and 15% below the district average. Sixth grade math is 11% below the state average and 7% below the district average. Seventh grade reading is 17% below the state average and 13% below the district average. Seventh grade math is 12% below the state average and 10% below the district average. 17. Things to cheer about!!!!! Our eighth grade math and reading scores are both within 2% of state and district averages with ego eighth-grade team! 18. How do we improve? Teacher in-service trainings. With an emphasis on common core standards, best teaching practices, and data analysis for optimal teaching success. Cooperative teaching, teambuilding, team planning. Peer tutoring and reimplementation of afterschool programs to help improve our students academic success. 19.
