Making ConnectionsAt downtown Metra stations, consult the transit information panels to find the right bus stop to make your connection. Metra, CTA, and Pace work together as a system to get you door to door as easily as possible.
CTA and Pace FaresCash accepted on buses only in dollar bills or coins; no transfers available when paying cash. Load cash at ‘L’ stations onto a Ventra™ card, personal contactless bankcard, or buy a Single-Ride ticket. Ventra cards can be loaded with value and passes using the Ventra App.
CTA and Pace PassesPasses offer unlimited rides on CTA and Pace when activated with first use, 1-day: $10; 3-day: $20; 7-day: $28; 7-day CTA/Pace: $33. CTA and Pace passes are available at Ventra vending machines at CTA rail stations, on the telephone at 1-877-NOW-VENTRA and online at ventrachicago.com.
Metra FaresMetra Mobile Tickets and Passes can be purchased using the Ventra App. Fares are based on distance traveled. Purchase tickets at downtown terminals or at many outlying stations. Monthly and Ten-Ride tickets can also be ordered online. One-way tickets can also be purchased on the train ($5 surcharge if agent on duty). Regional Transportation AuthorityThe Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) provides financial oversight, funding, and regional transit planning for the three public transit operations in Northeastern Illinois that serve two million riders each weekday: The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra and Pace bus and paratransit. The Agency provides customer services including on-line and telephone travel planning assistance and travel training for people with disabilities. The RTA is the only transit agency that focuses on the entire region when determining transit planning and funding. The RTA region

Transit Partners South Shore Line runs trains on the Metra Electric line from downtown Chicago to South Bend, Indiana, serving the Southeast Side of Chicago and Northwest Indiana. For schedules and fares visit nictd.com Amtrak provides rail service from Chicago’s Union Station to cities throughout Illinois and United States.
Many of these routes, combined with Thruway buses, connect 35 Illinois cities. Divvy BikesDivvy is Chicago’s bike share system. Many Divvy stations are conveniently located near CTA and Metra stations. Bikes can be checked out from and returned to any station. For pricing and station locations, please visit DivvyBikes.com
Bikes On TransitCTA and Pace provide bus service throughout the Chicagoland region. Customers can put their bikes on bus bike racks located on the front of buses. Bikes are permitted on CTA trains except during weekday rush periods. On Metra, bikes are allowed on certain weekday trains and all weekend trains, visit MetraRail.com for details. AccessibilityMetra has 242 commuter rail stations, of which 171 are fully accessible and 22 are partially accessible. The CTA “L” train system includes 145 stations, of which 101 are fully accessible. All CTA and Pace buses are ramp-equipped and make automated stop announcements.
