Clinical Focus Dr. Anita Gupta is an accomplished physician, pharmacist leader, and patient-centered visionary strategist on healthcare innovation, government affairs, and pain related drug policy. She has served as a federal regulatory advisor at the FDA, National Quality Forum, and National Academies of Sciences. On behalf the American Society of Anesthesiologists, she was the first anesthesiologist to have led the Task Force on Opioid Use advocating for the expanded use of naloxone to save lives globally. Gupta was a recipient of the prestigious Association of American Medical Colleges Learner Award for her groundbreaking research on identifying the need to change the pain assessment and pain scores in hospital care. She is an author of three international books, and is called upon as an influential thought leader to discuss high profile complex cases on CNN, Washington Post, Forbes.
