Tree protection fencing to be erected in accordancewith the enclosed details and maintained as aConstruction Exclusion Zone for the duration of allconstruction works.
Where sections of existing trees and hedgerows areshown to be removed to allow creation of aConstruction Working Area, (CWA). Within this areathe roots/stumps of felled tree and hedgerow vegetationshould remain in-situ and not be grubbed out. Workswithin this area should otherwise follow the principalsoutlined within BS5837:2012, the following MethodStatement to minimise the impact of ConstructionAccess upon the the rootzones of the adjacent treesand hedgerow;
• Select site access route and construction plant thatcan safely access the CWA given the physicalconstraints imposed by the height of the existingtree canopies.
• For construction purposes, systems for the controland suppression of dust, hydrocarbons,cementitious and other phytotoxic elements shouldbe employed to prevent damage to the adjacenttrees and hedgerow.
• Do not store materials or construction plant withinthe CWA.
• Depth of any excavation work within the CWA to begenerally minimised to reduce the potential toexpose and/or damage shallow tree roots.Consideration should be given to the re-use of theexisting foundations/sub-base of hard surfacedareas where possible.
• Provide ground protection to minimise excessivecompaction from people/plant. This should includethe use of temporary ground protection andselection of light, tracked plant over heavier,wheeled alternatives.
Any minor tree surgery proposed to facilitate demolitionor construction access will be undertaken by anArboricultural Association Approved Contractor withworks compliant with BS3998:2010 Tree work -recommendations. Any tree surgery proposed will besubject to approval of the Local Planning Authority TreeOfficer.
