From Sharon’s Desk
What a fabulous effort by Chloe Ahern for her representation of our
school as part of the PSSA Western Girl’s Cricket team. Chloe was the
Captain of the combined team and performed well with both bat and a
ball and was excellent on the field. An excellent ambassador for our
school. Well done Chloe!
Canberra Writing trip—myself and Sue Rathbone travelled with 30
other colleagues from other local schools for 2 days to four Canberra
schools. The 4 schools are connected by a project targeting strategies
in writing for students which has shown improved results. I will be
meeting with staff to discuss further as writing becomes a focus for us.
Year 6 to 7 transition Our program has begun last week with a group of
20 targeted students Year 6 heading to Dubbo South Campus over next
3 weeks. All year 6 will be heading up on Wednesday to spend the day
getting to know the school staff.
Kindergarten 2013 have completed their transition with groups
meeting their teachers last week ready for next year. Other students
with special needs across the school K-5 will begin to transition over
the next 3 weeks– meet their new teacher and get to know them for a
positive beginning 2013.
Today myself and Lindy Blekemore are involved in Finance Training
with the new RAM—Resource Allocation Model now due in 2014. This
will be the new way in which all schools will be financed. We are a
part of a trial using a new financial tool, under the National Partnership
-Local School, Local Decisions.
I will be attending our last Regional Principals day as we know it under
the old model of our education structure with reductions from the
State Government, the state has been realigned from 15 to 5 new
areas for operation across NSW. This will not effect your child’s educa-
tion—children are always at the forefront of any decision made at Dub-
bo South Public School. I know we will certainly be celebrating all of
our programs at the Regional Day and return with a clearer idea of
direction and pathways of support for schools in 2013.
Stage Concerts are going particularly well. Congratulations to Stage 2
who got us off to a great start. See you at Stage 1 on Thursday. Thank
you to parents for your wonderful, positive comments. Staff and stu-
dents appreciate your positive feedback. Have a good week.
Cheers Sharon

P&C News
The uniform shop will be open in January before school commences.
Thank you to Darienne Keizer for all her work in organising the Laura Jean Family Photos.
Kim and her canteen workers continue to do an outstanding job in running a very successful canteen.
Helen McCubbin spoke about the Wambinya Program and showed the P & C some amazing results for children who have been involved in the program. Helen has a wonderful group of support workers who work with the children to help them achieve their amazing results.
The P&C thank all those people who volunteered their time to help the P & C, by helping in the canteen and uniform shop, helping with fund raising and by providing assistance & support at our meetings. Without all the volunteers our P & C would not be such a success.
