Charlie is currently working across the Colleges under the Clontarf program. The theme “We all Stand on Sacred Land” Celebrate, Learn and Respect was discussed by senior students, our school choir sang “One People, One Land” and other performances by Sistaspeak as well as 3K with “Move it South Style” all contributed to the celebraons. We have another fabulous day today with a range of rotaonal acvies. More photos next week. An excellent effort by the Aboriginal Educaon team and community. Well done to all involved. Tell Them From Me Survey: This term our school will be parcipang in a Department of Educaon iniave Tell Them From Me. This is the second me that we have parcipated. The survey aims to help improve student learning outcomes and measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effecve teaching pracces. The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help improve how they do things at school. I want to assure you that the survey is confidenal. It is conducted online and will take less than 30 minutes to complete. It will be conducted during school hours between 24th August and 16th October. Parcipaon is enrely voluntary. A consent form is aached. Partners in Learning: Our school will also be parcipang in Partners in Learning parent survey, another component of Tell Them From Me survey on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers quesons about different factors that are know to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents and carers perspecves on their child’s experience at school. These include communicaon between parents/carers and staff, acvies and pracces at home and parent views on the school’s support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make praccal improvements. The survey is conducted enrely online at home. If you have not got a computer you will be able to access one at school. These typically take 15 minutes to complete and is strictly confidenal. The parent survey will be conducted between 24th August and 16th October. The area has definitely developed over the last 12 months. In September the school will be hosng Kids Teaching Kids Conference. NAIDOC celebrations kicked off yesterday at a whole school assembly with guest speaker Charlie Maher speaking about his experience as a marathon runner from Alice Springs. OLGA: What a great effort over the weekend with 10 people on Saturday and 15 on Sunday attending the working bees. Drop in and have a look at the outdoor learning area on Dalton St. The vegie gardens, fruit orchard, worm farms and dry creek bed look great and nearly completed amphitheatre will definitely be a feature. The area has definitely developed over the last 12 months. In September the school will be hosting Kids Teaching Kids Conference. Library News Premier’s Reading Challenge: Only 10 days until the end of the challenge!! The completion date is NEXT FRIDAY 21st August! Please see Mrs Rice NOW if you need help to finish! Book Week commences 24th August in Week 7. Last week the

wrong date was published for the Dress Up day – my apologies.

Dress Up day for Book Week is on Tuesday the 25th of August. Athletics Carnival Last Tuesday all students from Years 3 to 6 as well as some 8 yr olds from Year 2 participated in the annual Athletics Carnival. We had a fantastic day at the renovated Barden Park. The overall winning house on the day was Sturt. The age champions are as follows: Junior Girls: Georgia Cudmore Junior Boys: Will Cuthill 11 yrs Girls: Kimmy Trappett 11 yr boys: Brayden Smith Senior girls: Sorelle Thomas Senior boys: Will Magner-Pollard

This week a team of 53 students accompanied by Mrs Fistr will compete in the District Athletics Carnival at Barden Park this Friday. We wish them all the best. Congratulations to Amelia Raidaveta who smashed the senior girls discus record (held since 2001) and shot put (held since 1972) Jonah Raidaveta also broke the junior shotput record held since 2006.

Touch Football Last Wednesday our senior Boys Touch Football team played Dunedoo Central School and won 10-7. The boys played a great game and showed excellent sportsmanship during the day. We now progress to the next round and play Orana Heights tomorrow .

Tullamore Band Day Our band students will be travelling to Tullamore this Thursday for

a workshop and performance with other students from Trangie,

Tullamore and Tottenham. Workshops are held in wind

instruments, strings and guitar. Please ensure that all permission

notes are returned as soon as possible. A reminder that we will be

leaving at 8.00am from Fitzroy Street.

Dubbo South will be hosting a workshop in Term 4.

ICAS Digital Technologies Results Congratulations to the following students who recently participat-

ed in the Digital Technologies Results last term. Special mention to

Tina Vo who scored in the top 1% of the State. Well done Tina!!!

Soccer Last Friday our senior boys soccer team travelled to Mudgee to play at the Glen Willow Sports Complex to compete in rounds 3 and 4 of the PSSA knockout competition. We played Mudgee Public School first and lost 3-2. Our next game was against Cudgegong Valley Public School where we also lost 3-2. There were some great goals made by Jack Wallbridge and Julian Morrison-Zhou. It was a great team effort and the boys played well. Thank you to the parents who assisted with transport and gave us fantastic support on the day. Literacy and Numeracy Week Literacy and Numeracy Week will be held from Monday 24th

August to 28th August during book week. We would love parents,

grandparents or community members to come along and spend

some time in their child’s class and read an excerpt from their

favourite children’s book. An invitation will be issued to every

family at the end of next week for you to arrange a suitable time

for your visit. We look forward to seeing you.

Positive Behaviour for Learning The PBL learning focus for this week is Respect.

Respect in the playground- Listening to others.

Respect in the classroom- Respecting other people’s

property.

Teachers are always looking for students to give Ollie

tokens to in the playground and the classroom

who are following the PBL expectations.
