Pavement Jointing Mortars www.nccstreetscape.co.uk Durham County Council has used GftK Pavement Jointing Mortars from NCC Streetscape in their upgrading of streets around the historic town centre of Bishop Auckland. Previously the granite sett pointing had been with cement and polymer modified cement based products, but these were all found to be inadequate and failed. This was for a combination of reasons including their sensitivity to moisture during application, plus their rigidity and high strength, which makes them brittle and sensitive to traffic vibration. The solution was GftK 850 Jointing Mortar. This can be safely applied in damp / wet conditions and at low temperatures, as a slurry which ‘self-compacts’ into the joints, then it is simply rinsed and brushed off to leave a stain free finish, which is totally non-shrink and rapid hardening. It has optimised strength correlation and is therefore also designed to withstand the vibration and heavy loading from frequent traffic.
