LOWER SCHOOL Friday, 4th March: Fancy Dress Book Week Disco for Years 3-6. A DJ will be playing pop music and organising games for the children. Time and Place: Lower School Hall from 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Cost: £5, entry fee with drinks and snacks. Register through the portal. Sunday, 20 th March: Primary School “BIG FUN WALK” to Support North London Hospice! The walk covers 8.5 miles from East Finchley to Storey’s Gate, Westminster. For questions, please contact Mrs.Boyle: mboyle @dwightlondon.org Out and About Walk Monday, 14th March: – Tour of Highgate Cemetery West Highgate Cemetery is a beautiful, mysterious maze of Victorian tombs and time-shattered urns, notable for not only its famous architecture but for the famous people buried there like Karl Marx, Douglas Adams, and George Eliot. The West, more picturesque part of the cemetery is only accessible by guided tour that lasts around 70 minutes. The ticket price also includes entrance into the East Cemetery, which you can explore on your own on the same day. Could be wet and muddy, so plan accordingly! TIME AND PLACE: 1:30pm for a 1:45pm tour at Highgate Cemetery, Swain’s Lane, London, N6 6PJ Cost: £12 – you will need to pre-purchase your own ticket online using the link below - Book early to avoid disappointment! http://highgatecemetery.org/visit/cemetery/west Please contact Michele after you book your ticket so she knows to look out for you. Contact Michele at: [email protected] or 07519236803 WHEN IS SCREEN TIME TOO MUCH TIME? Come to the presentation on 16 th March to find out! Dr. Aric Sigman will be giving three presentations on managing screen time and dependency on 16th March. The first two of these presentations will be during the school day - one presented at the Lower School to students in Year 6, and the second at the Upper School, presented to all Upper School students. The third presentation will be in the evening at 7.00pm in Jubilee Hall, 6 Friern Barnet Lane, for all interested parents. An email asking for registration for the evening event has been sent out. As we know, young people of all ages are watching more recreational screen media than ever before and many are finding it difficult to stop. So-called screen media should be a tool and not a burden or a health risk, and these are some of the issues that Dr. Sigman will explore. He will tailor make his presentations so as to best suit the needs of the audience. Contributions to the newsletter: The newsletter is put together with content from the Dwight Community.
