DC Cooling economics

Each KW of power for Computing creates

1 KW (3412 BTU/h) of heat power

1 KW of heat needs approx. 800W of

electrical power in order to be cooled (with

traditional cooling technologies)

Hence, the yearly cooling cost for each KW

of servers is:

0.8 KW × 1000 € / KW ≈ 800 € / KW yearly

Free Cooling – Geothermal

Use FREE Energy from the environment

Geothermal drills (steady earth temperature is

between 10 and 16 ˚C @3 meters below surface)

Nearby Cool Water (river, pond, sea, etc)

Atmosphere Cool Air (during winter or night)

Efficient use of RES can offer additional reduction (up to 80-90% or more depending on location and climate conditions)

Additional Savings from automatic real-time adjustment of cooling power, depending on servers’ requirements
