  • Title: Chord PlayLevel: Early ElementaryLearning Area: Scales & ChordsStudent Outcome:Students will be able to recognise, locate, name the notes and play Early Elementary Level Chords in a pop vamp.

    Contents:Folder Cover Page Folder Divider Labels Student Record Page Game Pages Game Cards

    Extra Materials: Erasable/Whiteboard Marker8 small erasers, beads or discs to fit on piano keys

    To Create the Folder Games:Print the Game PagesPlace the Game Pages in plastic pockets and insert into your Early Elementary Folder in order Print the Game CardsCut the Game Cards apart along the linesLaminate or cover the Game Cards as desiredPlace the Game Cards into the appropriate Game Page plastic pocket

    Instructions: Learn Page: Complete the pages and play the chords. Remember Game - Find & Play 1. Shuffle the Chord Cards and place them in a pile face down in front of the student.2. The student selects the top card and colours all of the chord notes on the game page before

    playing the chords on the piano. Wipe the game page clean when completed.3. Repeat Step 2 until all cards have been played.

    Remember Page: Colour the missing chord notes. Wipe clean when completed.

    Apply Game - Can You Make a Chord?1. Shuffle the Can You Make a Chord Name Cards and Keyboard Cards separately and place them in 2

    piles face down between the players.2, Players take turns turning over one top card from each pile and then determine if they can

    "make" the chord named on the chord name card from the note shown on the keyboard card. If the player can make the chord they keep the card pair. If they cannot make the chord then the card pair is discarded.3. Play continues until all of the cards in the card game piles have been played.4. The winner is the player with the most cards at the end of the game.
