#*Opening Hymns: “Christ Arose” Hymn 216 Celebration Orchestra; Jeremy Buzzard, Director of Music

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior! Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

(CHORUS): Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o'er His foes; He arose a Victor from the dark domain, and He lives forever with His saints to reign,

He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose! Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior!

Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord! Death cannot keep his prey, Jesus my Savior!

He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord! Words by Robert Lowry. Taken from The Hymnal for Worship and Celebration.

#*“Christ the Lord is Risen Today” Hymn 217 Christ the Lord is ris’n today, Alleluia! Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!

Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia! Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth, reply, Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia! Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!

Dying once He all doth save, Alleluia! Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia! Death in vain forbids His rise, Alleluia! Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia! Foll’wing our exalted Head, Alleluia!

Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia! Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Words by Charles Wesley. Taken from The Hymnal for Worship and Celebration. # Ushers will seat you at these times. * All who are able are invited to stand.

*The Apostles’ Creed Pastor Crow I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost (Spirit), born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick (living) and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church*; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. *holy catholic church: “The worldwide fellowship of believing people whose Head is Christ.”

*Gloria Patri Hymn 623 Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, World without end. Amen, Amen.

*Hymn: “Come People of the Risen King” Keith and Kristyn Getty/Townend Come people of the Risen King, who delight to bring Him praise.

Come all and tune your hearts to sing to the Morning Star of grace. From the shifting shadows of the earth, we will lift our eyes to Him

Where steady arms of mercy reach to gather children in. Chorus: Rejoice! Rejoice! Let ev’ry tongue rejoice! One heart, one voice, O Church of Christ, rejoice!

Come those whose joy is morning sun, and those weeping through the night. Come those who tell of battles won, and those struggling in the fight. For His perfect love will never change, and His mercies never cease,

But follow us through all our days with the certain hope of peace. Chorus: Rejoice! Rejoice! Let ev’ry tongue rejoice! One heart, one voice, O Church of Christ, rejoice!

Come young and old from ev’ry land, men and women of the faith. Come, those with full or empty hands; find the riches of His grace.

Over all the world His people sing; shore to shore we hear them call - The truth that cries through ev’ry age: “Our God is all in all!”

Chorus: Rejoice! Rejoice! Let ev’ry tongue rejoice! One heart, one voice, O Church of Christ, rejoice!

*Doxology Hymn 624 Prayer of Intercession and The Lord’s Prayer (9:00) Pastor Pittman, (11:15) Pastor Desch Offertory: “The Power of the Cross” Getty/Townend; arr. Hamilton

Chancel Choir and Celebration Orchestra Jeremy Reasoner and Kerri Roberts, duet

Oh, to see the dawn of the darkest day; Christ on the road to Calvary; Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten, then, nailed to a cross of wood.

Oh, to see the pain written on Your face, bearing the awesome weight of sin; Ev’ry bitter tho’t, ev’ry evil deed crowning Your bloodstained brow.

This the power of the cross; Christ became sin for us; Took the blame, bore the wrath; we stand forgiven at the cross!

Now the daylight flees; now the ground beneath quakes as its Maker bows His head. Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life; “Finished!” the vict’ry cry!

This the power of the cross; Christ became sin for us; Took the blame, bore the wrath; we stand forgiven at the cross!

Oh, to see my name written in the wounds, for thro’ Your suff’ring I am free. Death is crushed to death, life is mine to live, won thro’ Your selfless love!

This the power of the cross; Son of God slain for us. What a love, what a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross. What a love, what a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross.

Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne; Hark! How the heav’nly anthem drowns all music but its own!

Awake, my soul, and sing of Him Who died for thee, And hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

King of kings! And Lord of lords.

Crown Him the Lord of love! Behold His hands and side, Rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified:

His glories now we sing Who died, and rose on high, Who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

King of kings! And Lord of lords!

Crown Him the Lord of Life, Who triumphed o’er the grave, Who rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save;

To Thee be endless praise, for Thou for us hast died. Be Thou, O Lord, through endless days adored and magnified!

King of kings! And Lord of lords! Amen! Copyright © 2014 Soundforth, a division of The Lorenz Corporation. CCLI #541575.

“DEATH IS CRUSHED TO DEATH” FOR WHOM?

1. For the person who hears, believes and ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Jesus.

John 5: 19 So Jesus said to them . . . 21 “For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. 22 The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24 Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”

2. For persons who admit their own spiritual ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ and cry out to Jesus for His regenerating ___ ___ ___ ___.

John 5: 25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live . . . 28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.”

3. For persons who ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ eat the

flesh of Jesus.

John 6: 38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me . . . 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day . . . 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

4. For persons who belong to the ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28: 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.”
