Hymn Easter People Raise Your Voices REGENT SQUARE

Anthem Christ is Alive TRURO

Anthem Worthy is the Lamb Allen Pote

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain! Worthy to receive power, worthy to

receive riches, worthy to receive wisdom and strength! Worthy to receive honor, worthy to receive glory, worthy to receive blessing is the Lamb of God! To the one seated on the throne and unto the Lamb be blessing and

honor and glory. Forever and ever, Amen!

1. Christ is alive! Let Christians sing. His cross stands empty to the sky. Let streets and homes with praises ring. His love in death shall never die.

2. Christ is alive! No longer bound to distant years in Palestine, he comes to claim the here and now and dwell in every place and time.

3. In every insult, rift and war, where color, scorn or wealth divide, he suffers still, yet loves the more, and lives, though ever crucified.

Easter people, raise your voices, sounds of heav’n in earth should ring. Christ has brought us heaven’s choices; Heav’nly music, let it ring. Alleluia! Allleluia! Easter people, let us sing!

Fear of death can no more stop us from our pressing here below. For our Lord empowered us to triumph o’er every foe. Alleluia! Alleluia! On to vict’ry now we go!

Every day to us is Easter, with is resurrection song. When in trouble move the faster to our God who rights the wrong. Alleluia! Alleluia! See the power of Heavn’ly throngs!

Hymn Thine Be the Glory JUDAS MACCABEUS

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son;

endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won. Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,

kept the folded graveclothes where thy body lay. Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son;

endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won.

No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life! Life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife.

Make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love; bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above.

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death has won.

Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*Affirmation of Faith From 1 Corinthians 15:16 and Colossians 1:15-20

This is the good news, which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved: Christ died for our sins,

was buried, was raised on the third day, and appeared first to the women, then to Peter and the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses.

We believe Jesus is the Christ,

the Anointed One of God, the firstborn of all creation, the firstborn from the dead, in whom all things hold together, in whom the fullness of God was pleased to dwell by the power of the Spirit.

Christ is the head of the body, the church,

and by the blood of the cross reconciles all things to God. Amen.

*Closing Hymn Lift High the Cross p. 159

*Benediction Glory be to Christ Jesus, who is the Resurrection and the Life. He was dead, and behold he is alive forever and ever. Those who believe in him, even though they die, yet shall they live. Glory be to Christ Jesus, in the church which waits for him on earth, and in the church which is around him in heaven, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen. *Choral Response

After Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the Kidron

valley to a place where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. Now

Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, because Jesus often met there with his

disciples. So Judas brought a detachment of soldiers together with police from the

chief priests and the Pharisees, and they came there with lanterns and torches and

weapons. Then Jesus, knowing all that was to happen to him, came forward and

asked them, “Whom are you looking for?” They answered, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus

replied, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. When Je-

sus said to them, “I am he,” they stepped back and fell to the ground. Again he asked

them, “Whom are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus an-

swered, “I told you that I am he. So if you are looking for me, let these men go.” This

was to fulfill the word that he had spoken, “I did not lose a single one of those whom

you gave me.” Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s

slave, and cut off his right ear. The slave’s name was Malchus. Jesus said to Peter,

“Put your sword back into its sheath. Am I not to drink the cup that the Father has

given me?”

So the soldiers, their officer, and the Jewish police arrested Jesus and bound him. First

they took him to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that

year. Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it was better to have one

person die for the people.

Simon Peter and another disciple followed Jesus. Since that disciple was known to the

high priest, he went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, but Peter was

standing outside at the gate. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest,

went out, spoke to the woman who guarded the gate, and brought Peter in. The wom-

an said to Peter, “You are not also one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I

am not.” Now the slaves and the police had made a charcoal fire because it was cold,

and they were standing around it and warming themselves. Peter also was standing

with them and warming himself. ~John 18:1-18
