CHURCH CLEANING

Crew #5 will be cleaning the church on April 21 at 5:00 p.m.

From our Pastor…

JESUS HAS RISEN ALLELUIA, ALLELUIA. We are confronted by God's power over physical and spiritual death. Basically, God is asking us, "Do you believe or not?" But God is not limited by our unbelief. He desires life within us. What truths are difficult for you to believe--that God loves you in spite of your sinfulness; that the bread and wine are the body and blood of Jesus? Over what evil in your life is Christ asking you to believe in God's power?

God’s Blessings,

PARISH NEWS

TRI-PARISH DIVINE MERCY SERVICE

Today at 3:00 PM Chaplet and Confessions at St. Bonaventure on Sunday, April 23, 2017. Please join us for this beautiful devotion. During the course of Jesus' revelations to Saint Faustina on the Divine Mercy He asked on numerous occasions that a feast day be dedicated to the Divine Mercy and that this feast be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. This was granted to the Universal Church by St. Pope John Paul II on the occasion of the canonization of Sr. Faustina on April 30, 2000. On May 23, 2000, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments stated that “throughout the world the Second Sunday of Easter will receive the name Divine Mercy Sunday, a perennial invitation to the Christian world to face, with confidence in divine benevolence, the difficulties and trials that mankind will experience in the years to come.” The faithful are encouraged to go to Confession and receive Holy Communion. The Communion requirement can be easily met by receiving Holy Communion at Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday. The Confession requirement can be met by receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation 20 days before or after Divine Mercy Sunday.

DEACON ORDINATION You are invited!! Please help us celebrate the ordination of Jim Naughtin into the sacrament of Holy Orders as a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Omaha. The celebration will take place on Sunday, May 7, 2017, with the celebration of Holy Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bonaventure’s. After the Mass, we will be celebrating with a dinner/open house in the Scotus Central Catholic High School Cafeteria, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. All St. Bonaventure parishioners are invited to please join us for this dinner in appreciation of all the ways that you have supported Jim through your prayers these past 4 years of his formation and training! We ask for your continued prayers! Jim will be ordained as a Permanent Deacon by Archbishop George Lucas at St. Cecelia’s Cathedral in Omaha on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. This is a joyous event for our parish as Jim joins Deacons Art, Larry and Dan as a permanent deacon for St. Bonaventure parish.

CONFIRMATION APRIL 30 Archbishop George Lucas will be here on April 30 at Noon to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with St. Bonaventure

students. This means NO 11AM Mass that day. Spanish Mass will move to 3 PM.

ANUNCIOS en ESPAÑOL

Tiempo Pascual Por: Padre Gregorio Congote

SPIRITUAL/LITURGY

Get in the fight for the soul of America – Pray the Rosary daily.

Don’t have time, then pray 1 decade. Don’t have time, then pray 1 Hail Mary – but get in the fight!

Have you ever wondered about the history of our beautiful stained glass windows? We have a new video documentary on our Parish website that explains it all. Just go to our Home Page at http://stboncc.com and look under the "Visitors" Tab at the top of the page to find the link. You'll see some fascinating facts about our windows' history and also how they are meant to teach us Sacred Scripture. Let other parishioners know about this as well!

EMHC AND USHERS NEEDED We are in need of EMHC volunteers to take Holy Communion to homebound parishioners. This ministry is a true privilege. We also need ushers, especially for the 6:30 p.m. Mass on Sundays. Please call the rectory if interested, 402-564-7151.

RESPECTFUL DRESS REQUESTED Clothes reflect attitude, and attitude dictates behavior. As the weather gets warmer, please dress modestly. Summer wear, including shorts and flip flop sandals, is not appropriate dress for Mass.

HIGH SCHOOL AND JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS Every week there is church cleaning (see schedule elsewhere in the bulletin) with which our students can help for Living the Faith hours. The times are listed, and all they have to do is show up and help. The adult volunteers will sign their forms for them.
