NANO-TECHNOLOGY
As a global leader in apparel manufacturing, we have the opportunity and responsibility to encourage the use of environmentally-friendly products. By utilizing renewable and recycled fibers in our new eco collection, we are able to produce eco-friendly apparel that helps lessen the burden on our globe’s natural resources.
Bamboo Charcoal used in NANO-TECHNOLOGY blends nature with technology. We use a sustainable resource as an additive in yarn production to provide permanent performance without the use of harmful chemicals.
Bamboo and Soybean are ideal alternative fabric choices, given that they are made from RENEWABLE AND SUSTAINABLE NATURAL RESOURCES. Their soft hand, breathability and easy-care properties also offer a winning combination when it comes to our performance wovens and knits.
Recycled polyester is another great eco-friendly alternative fabric featuring RECYCLED YARNS MADE FROM POST-CONSUMER WASTE. By introducing recycled components into our knits, fleece and outerwear garments, we can help to reduce landfill waste. By introducing recycled components into our knits, fleece and outerwear garments, we can help to reduce landfill waste, decrease energy consumption and conserve petroleum resources used in the manufacturing of virgin polyester – all without compromising style and quality.

BAMBOO
FIBER
Introducing Bamboo Fiber…
What is bamboo fiber? Bamboo fiber is a cellulose, which is the main
ingredient in all vegetable fibers that come from plants
Cellulose is mainly obtained from wood pulp and other plant fibers
Cellulose is most commonly converted into rayon type fibers
Bamboo fiber is converted into fiber using the same rayon manufacturing process
a renewable natural resource that’s always in style.
Introducing Bamboo Fiber…
Why is bamboo eco-friendly? Bamboo grows naturally without the need for agricultural tending
or large diesel exhaust-spewing tractors to plant seeds and cultivate the soil
Due to its extra ordinary water absorbency and little need for irrigation, it is one of the best renewable resources on the planet.
It is grown without the use of harmful pesticides or fertilizers, even in poor quality soil due to its natural agent “bamboo kun” which protects it from infection and pests.
Bamboo protects the air we breathe by extracting vast amounts of CO² from the atmosphere and releasing 35% more oxygen into the air versus other cellulose crops or forests
Bamboo fiber properties: Its inherent absorbency wicks moisture away from the body, to
evaporate perspiration quickly Softer and more comfortable than cotton Natural sheen and luster Similar hand feel and softness as silk 100% Biodegradable The bamboo kun inhibits bacterial growth naturally
a renewable natural resource that’s always in style.
Introducing Bamboo Fiber…
How is it made into fabric? Using 4-year old bamboo plants, the leaves and inner part of the
trunk are extracted, pummeled and crushed The crushed cellulose is then soaked in solution for up to 3 hours,
then pressed to extract moisture and left to dry for 24 hours Carbon compounds are added causing the bamboo pulp to gel Solution is added to dissolve and liquify the gel The bamboo cellulose is then forced through a spinneret (device like
a showerhead) It then hardens, reconverting to cellulose bamboo fiber threads The finished bamboo fiber threads are spun into yarns After bleaching and dyeing, the yarns are ready to be woven or knit
into fabrics
a renewable natural resource that’s always in style.
Introducing Bamboo Fiber…
How is Bamboo charcoal different? Bamboo charcoal technology is a highly specialized process where
dried bamboo is carbonized in a kiln at nearly 800˚C, reducing it to charcoal, then ground into a fine powder.
This charcoal powder is then blended with a polymer to form fibers that are woven or knitted into fabric form.
The resulting fabric is enhanced with permanent lifetime performance qualities provided by the bamboo carbons, such as wicking, odor absorption, UV protection and thermal regulation
a renewable natural resource that’s always in style.

- Bamboo is classified botanically as a grass, not a tree
- The kind of bamboo used to make fibers and fabrics is not the same kind as eaten by the panda bears
- It can grow 36” on average in 24hr period and is able to reach maturity in about 4 years when it is ready for harvest
- Bamboo does not require replanting after harvest because its vast root network continually sprouts new shoots which almost zoom up while you watch, pulling in sunlight and greenhouse gases and converting them to new green growth.

PROTEIN FIBER
Introducing Soybean Protein Fiber…
Why is soybean eco-friendly? A sustainable raw material which does not add any extra burden
on mother nature All waste of the soybean production process is recyclable,
making the production process a closed end process
Soybean protein properties Superior warmth retention and moisture transmission to keep
you warm and dry Silky luster, super soft hand feel and luxurious appearance Known as “vegetable cashmere” 100% Biodegradable

Introducing Soybean Protein Fiber…
How is it made into fabric? Plant proteins are extracted from the leftover dregs of food
production (such as tofu, soymilk, soybean oil) Through the wet-spinning process, these protein liquids are
forced through a spinneret (a device resembling a showerhead) to make liquid soy
The liquid soy is then solidified, resulting in soybean fiber

POLYESTER
Introducing Recycled Polyester…
Why is Recycled Polyester eco-friendly? Divert 3 billion plastic PET bottles from world landfills annually Save over ½ million barrels of oil annually Eliminate 400,000 tons of harmful air emissions which
contribute to acid rain, global warming and smog
Recycled Polyester Properties Chemically and functionally nearly identical to non-recycled
(virgin) polyester Can be spun with other fibers to enhance quality Non-depleting of our Earth’s natural resources

Introducing Recycled Polyester…
How is it made into fabric?1. At the recycling depot the plastic pop bottles are sorted and baled for pick up.
The plastic is technically called “polyethylene terephthalate” or PET.2. At the processing plant, the caps and labels are removed, and bottles are
separated by color.3. Bottles are then sterilized, crushed and chopped into flakes.4. The flakes are then melted and stirred, and extruded through a spinneret
(similar to a showerhead) producing fibrous polyester strands.5. Fiber strands are stretched to produce thinness and strength. The strands are
crimped, cut into short pieces and baled.6. The baled threads are shipped to knitters and weavers to produce recycled
fabric.

Reduce, Recycle, Realize the value of Recycled Polyester
- The amount of petroleum saved by using post consumer bottles instead of virgin materials in the manufacturing process annually is enough to supply power to a city the size of Atlanta for an entire year!
- Two million plastic bottles are used in the US every 10 minutes and 51 billion plastic bottles are sent to landfills annually.
- It will take 700 years before plastic bottles in landfills start to decompose.
- Less than 30% of plastic bottles in the U.S. are actually recycled.
- One square yard of recycled polyester fabric contains approximately 5 clear 2L soda bottles
- For every garment we make using recycled polyester, approximately 10 recycled plastic bottles will have been diverted from the landfill.
