Staples High School

The Westport Board of Education seeks an outstanding educational leader for the position of Principal of Staples High School and invites qualified, interested candidates to apply. Cooperative Educational Services (C.E.S.) Executive Searches will facilitate the search on behalf of the Board of Education. The Board expects the new principal to assume responsibilty of the office during the 2016-17 school year.

Qualified candidates, at minimum, are expected to meet the following general performance standards for the principal of Staples High School:

Simply stated, Staples High School is one of the best public secondary schools in Connecticut and the Northeast. Staples offers a rigorous academic curriculum that challenges its students and produces graduates who are well prepared for college and the world beyond Westport. U.S. News and World Report ranked Staples as one of the 10 best public high schools in the state for 2015. There are great expectations for students of all abilities, as well as teachers, support staff, and administrators.

The school features state-of-the-art facilities and outstanding faculty and staff members. A comprehensive administrative structure is in place to support students and teachers, as well as cutting-edge curricular and professional development pro-grams and exceptional special education programs. Students are offered a global educational experience: Staples offers international exchange programs and several world languages, including Spanish, French, Italian, German, Latin, and Mandarin.

Students are very active in all aspects of high school life. The school has won many accolades for dramatic and musical performance as well as student publications. Staples athletics has been recognized as one of the best and most comprehensive programs in the state, and the school emphasizes good sportsmanship as integral to fair play. In total, there are more than 150 different interscholastic sports, intra-murals, and other extracurricular programs for students to choose.
