VICTOR, TAIWAN
hello, my name is Victor . I am from Taipei, Taiwan . I am studying Tourism management for International Students Diploma at Capilano
University in North Vancouver . I studied at ELS for nine months, starting from Intermediate level through the master level . ELS helped me improve my
English skills, and it also gave me good training for survival skills in a university .
The staff at ELS gave me a support and consulting resource to help me understand how to apply for a university . moreover, the teachers offered
their recommendation letters to me, and they also helped me with my intention letter for the application form . The essay writing training is the
most helpful for university study . ELS helped me to build a strong foundation for essay writing skills .
The listening skill is the most difficult part of studying at a North American university . At a university, teachers rarely stop for a student to repeat their sentences many times . however, the program at ELS helped improve my
listening skills a lot . I can keep up to the lectors in classes easily now .
I would like to thank ELS for helping me build my English skills . I made many friends from different countries and had a rich experience in Canada .”

“The most difficult part of preparing to study in Canada was writing .
japanese have a totally different style of writing from English and it is very
hard to digest and express in a proper way . I studied at ELS for 5 months
at EAP level 105-109 . The EAP program contained every skill I need for
studying at college: speaking, grammar, reading, and writing .
Right now, I’m taking courses at North Island College for my Associate
of Arts Degree . I’m learning basic psychology, philosophy, and
anthropologyto transfer to another university in Canada .
ELS helped me prepare for college . They told about the college and
answered my questions . Also, the university adviser gave me a chance to
meet North Island College Director for International Students, and it was
very helpful to feel more comfortable about college before I went there .
ELS helped me with almost everything! Because of my English studies at
ELS, I didn’t have a big problem when I started at North Island . ELS’s EAP
program was very hard, but I can see the improvement in my own and my
friends’ English after we finished . It is totally worth doing!

ELS was the first private/public partnership which Douglas College established to create transparent pathways for
International and Domestic students who require academic English to enter public college or university . Over the years
many of the staff at Douglas College have been impressed with how prepared students who choose to attend ELS vs
those who apply for admission with a standardized test or other means are . The vast majority of students who attend ELS
prior to coming to Douglas achieve higher academic results and complete their studies quicker than those who come less
prepared, saving time and money .
Due to the professionalism of the ELS staff, the admission process is always very smooth and seamless . I can strongly
recommend ELS to any student who requires academic English to enter a public college or university in Canada .”

At the Art Institute of Vancouver, there is a vibrant energy that fuels students to do their best while becoming a part of a thriving creative community. the Art Institute of Vancouver, previously the center for Digital Imaging and sound in Burnaby, B.c., and the Institute of Digital Arts in richmond, B.c., opened in 2002. In June 2003, the school expanded to include culinary education with the addition of the Dubrulle International culinary & Hotel Institute of canada facilities. In september 2004, the school was formally integrated and named the Art Institute of Vancouver. the Princeton review announced their “top schools to study Video Game Design for 2013,” ranking the Art Institute of Vancouver as number nine on the top 15 of the list for undergraduate schools. this is the Art Institute of Vancouver’s fourth appearance on the list and the only school from canada included in the top 15.
In June 2009, the Design and event Management programs moved into a new purpose-built, two-story structure located at 2665 renfrew street, adjacent to the renfrew skytrain station. the renfrew campus, which has 40,000 square feet of student space, was master planned and developed specifically for the school by Vancouver-based McM Interiors, who won the 2006 Interior Designers Institute of Bc (IDI) Award of excellence for their work with electronic Arts. the Media Arts programs moved to the renfrew campus in summer 2010, bringing the student space to a total of 80,000 square feet.
the combined locations hold numerous classrooms, computer labs, studios, a professional kitchen, gallery space, as well as a large library and student lounge. the Art Institute of Vancouver offers school-sponsored housing and social activities, as well as a student health plan. there are also class-related clubs and extracurricular activities such as the soccer team, yoga classes, and movie nights to bring students together.

eLs Language centers is more than an educational institution.
It becomes a new family for all foreign students… the main
purpose for them is to offer the best tools
and advice to help students.
“ “
I’m currently studying Global Business Management as a postgraduate at Humber college. My reading and writing preparation
was essentialwhen I started college. I studied for an entire year at eLs. I took the english for Academic Purposes program and it was the most effective way to pick up my writing skills. new
vocabulary, linking words, and most importantly “excellent teachers” helped me to have a good start at the college. If I had not taken my
english preparation at eLs I would not have been able to start my program and reach the top of my english skills.
starting was really tough because my english level was poor. I needed to begin with simple stuff like alphabet’s pronunciation; however,
time, the quality of teachers and the staff at eLs helped me to improve and achieve my goal.
the most difficult part of preparing to study in canada was to change my methods of studying. Besides that, the multicultural
atmosphere, new language, and being far away from my family became really hard. eLs Language centers is more than an
educational institution. It becomes a new family for all foreign students. the main purpose for them is to offer the best
tools and advice to help students who want to be successful and have one of the nicest experiences in this beautiful country.”
