The EMC® Connectrix® DS-4900B Fibre Channel switch combines 64 ports of 4 gigabit-per-sec-ond (4 Gb/s) performance in a 2U rack with ports-on-demand scalability and high availability tosupport mission-critical storage area networks (SANs). The DS-4900B provides an affordable, flexible solution that can help reduce the size of the SAN footprint and simplify management bylowering the total number of domains through consolidation. The DS-4900B base model con-sists of 32 ports and scales in 16-port increments to 48 and 64 ports. The switch also supportsISL Trunking of up to eight 4Gb/s ports per ISL Trunk, for a single Trunk of up to 32 Gb/s. Forcomplete investment protection, the DS-4900B supports 1, 2, and 4 Gb/s speeds, is backwards-compatible, and can support distance deployments of up to 35 km. The DS-4900B meets theneeds of a broad range of networked storage applications, including storage consolidation, backup and restore, and includes a rich optional feature set.
