The Main Event features a multi-faceted lighting plan. The use of multiple layered lighting and
dimmable lights provide maximum energy efciency while creating a variety of moods andallowing a range of activities within the same area. The lighting can be dimmed for an intimatelighting environment and enhanced where task lighting is needed. Twenty-foot ceilings and
glass window-walls ood the venue in daylight and minimize the need for articial light.
As one enters The Main Event, the foyer featuresa large, custom xture inset by Halo LED recessedlighting. As guests move into the reception hall, modern and clean Shaper pendant lights act asthe main light source and can be dimmed tohelp create the desired atmosphere. The dance
oor features a drop ceiling that houses Halo LEDand Metalux cove lighting and provides adecorative element as well as sets the area
apart from the rest of the space. Metalux indirectcove lighting is also used to highlight the stagearea and provide a soft glow that gives intrigue
to the architectural feature. Halo’s energyefcient LED track lighting directs light towardthe stage and can be adjusted to suit theneeds of the band or DJ. In the foyer andthroughout the main space, Portfolio ceramicmetal halides provide supplemental lightingwhich may be dimmed or turned off as needed.
Impressive columns illuminated by Shaper’swall-mounted xtures visually separate the foodand service area from the reception hall.Neo-Ray LED strip-lighting dwells within asuspended ceiling that denes the space andprovides light over the food tables. Glass doorslead guests to the terrace which allows for additional seating in warm weather and dramatic views of Chicago’s skyline.
This space features Lumière ADA-compliant wall sconces which provideillumination without distracting from the view.
Located at the back of the venue is an exciting, round bar in the center of aglass-walled atrium that draws the guests in for drinks and socializing. The bar is crowned by an octagonal drop ceiling that reects the shape of the atriumwalls. The suspended ceiling contains Halo LED xtures that provide task lighting for guests and the staff. In the center of the drop ceiling are multipleShaper pendant lights which hang over the bar area at different levels for visual interest. In-ground Boca accent lighting underneath the bar adds a
dramatic effect to the intimate area.
On the west side of the building, restrooms and a comfortable dressing and
seating area are lighted by Halo’s LED recessed xtures which provide acontinuous and cohesive theme throughout t hese spaces. Neo-Ray wallmounted luminaires over the sinks add task lighting for freshening up.
The Main Event offers a functional lighting design which meets the
ASHRAE/IESNA watts per square foot standard. For convenience and energyefciency, the lighting throughout the venue is controlled by a GreengateDigital Switch which allows different lighting zones to have multiple switchingoptions. NeoSwitch Tech/Dual Relay Wall Switch Sensors have been placedin each restroom and the dressing room to provide even more energy
efcient lighting. The Main Event, on the shore of Lake Michigan, is abeautiful and versatile space with unique decorative elements andimpressive lighting techniques that help to make it “the place” for wedding
receptions, rehearsal dinners, banquets, and reunions in Chicago and thesurrounding area.
