What Is Engagement?

• Employee Engagement is the extent to which employees commit to something or someone in their organization and how hard they work and how long they stay as a result of that commitment.

• Employee Engagement is directly tied to key areas:– Intent to Stay - Retention– Discretionary Effort - Performance

Why Care?

• Engagement drives effort, performance , and retention. According to Corporate Leadership Council research:– Commitment can increase discretionary efforts by 57%,

which can improve performance by 20%– Every 10% increase in commitment increase employee

effort (performance) by 6%– Every 10% increase in commitment decrease employee

probability of departure by 9%

• Greatest opportunity for organizations to increase engagement is large group of ‘moderates’
