Since 2000, Babson College’s Center for Women’s Leadership (CWL) has been dedicated to advancing the entrepreneurial leadership of women worldwide.
Through high-impact programs, powerful collaborations, and funding and disseminating
research, CWL connects female students with role models in the business world, and
helps women professionals deliver innovative leadership to their organizations.
Despite a decade of achievements, CWL faces an uphill battle to ensure opportunity
for talented women. Recognizing this, the Center has undertaken a comprehensive action
plan to ensure that Babson is leading the advancement of women as contributors to, and
creators of, social and economic value.
To achieve this goal, the center is focusing on the following activities:
> Creating, supporting, and disseminating best practices for women’s leadership
grounded in Entrepreneurial Thought and Action®
> Providing innovative and action-oriented programs, outreach activities, and research
> Partnering with organizations committed to leveraging the talent and market power of women
> Addressing how the advancement of women is challenging existing gender norms and
acting as a driver of social change
> Researching women’s success in creating economic and social value around the world

Developing women who are ready to lead in a world that they will change for the better.
While the number of female executives has grown steadily in the last 10 years, a 2010
report by The Corporate Library, a corporate governance research firm, indicates that
diversity efforts in America’s boardrooms are being implemented slowly and grudgingly.
According to the report, “gender parity—measured both by absolute numbers and by the
levels of responsibility given to women—is still far out of reach.”
Babson College models organizational gender parity through its increasingly gender-
balanced administration, with women acting in leadership roles alongside their male
counterparts. Raising CWL’s profile among Babson’s other academic and research centers
will position Babson as a leader in developing women who are ready to lead in a world
that they will change for the better.
