1 Michele (Donahue) Abley Scholarship

This scholarship was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Donahue in 2000 in memory of their daughter, Michele D. Abley. In 1965, Michele received her B.S., majoring in Medical Technology. She later returned to Carroll and in 1987 received her B.A. in Accounting. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student with preference given to students majoring in accounting or biology. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

2 Dollee Adams Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

The Dollee Adams Endowed Scholarship in Nursing was established in 2018 by (Marilyn) Sue Stanaway to honor her mother, Dollee (Doline) Adams Stanaway, R.N., a 1951 graduate of Carroll College. The scholarship is intended for a worthy female student enrolled in the nursing program who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of an outstanding student at Carroll College.

3 Adamson Endowed ScholarshipIn 1998, Ms. Adamson created this scholarship to be awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student who has financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

4 Alumni Golden Years Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1999 by friends and family of Robert Wamsley to honor his 50 year reunion. Each Golden Year Class is invited to participate in building this fund. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student with academic integrity. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

5 Dr. Faust M. and Marie Alvarez Scholarship

Established in 1975 by Dr. Faust M. and Marie Alvarez, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student majoring in biological science or a health-field program. It may be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior student demonstrating academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA, and financial need. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

6 Stephen Ambrose Endowed ScholarshipCreated in 2003 by the Ambrose family in memory of Dr. Stephen Ambrose, this scholarship will be awarded annually to a student majoring in history who has completed the freshman year and has demonstrated academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

7 Amy N. Anderson Scholarship

Established in 1997 by Patsy and Larry Anderson, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level demonstrating financial need and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Preference is given first to students from Lake County, and second to business or education majors.

8 Dick and Margaret Anderson ScholarshipThis scholarship, established in 1998 by Dick and Margaret Anderson, is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student from Montana. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level demonstrating financial need and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

9 Theodore and Georgianna Babiak Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in 2006 in accordance with the last will and testament of Thaddeus A. Babiak to support students at Carroll College who are enrolled full-time and have demonstrated financial need and academic integrity. Priority is given to students from St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Hamilton; or if such a student is not identified, students from the Hamilton area.

10 Shirley A. Baker and Kimberly A. Kelley International Student Endowed Scholarship

Established in 1995 by the late Jeffrey D. Baker, Ph.D. and Shirley A. Baker, Ed.D., the scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll international student, incoming or current, with financial need. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study. The student shall exhibit academic integrity and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

11 John & Dorothy Barclay Scholarship

Established in 2000 by Karen Barclay Fagg, class of 1975, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student. Preference is given first to an Anaconda high school graduate majoring in civil engineering or math; second to an Anaconda high school graduate in any major; and third to any student majoring in civil engineering or math. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study.

12 Brian (Class of 2000) and Kate Bartle Endowed Scholarship

The Brian (Class of 2000) and Kate Bartle Endowed Scholarship was established in December 2017 to recognize a worthy student majoring in civil engineering and support his/her desire to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. In addition, this student will demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolling at Carroll College. Priority is given to graduates of a Washington or Oregon high school.

13 Basque Pioneers Endowed Scholarship

The Basque Pioneers Endowed Scholarship, founded in 2009, honors Jeanne and John Etchepare, parents of Paul Etchepare, and Catherine and John Etchart, parents of Gene Etchart. The senior Etchepares and Etcharts immigrated to America from the Basque Pyrenees in the south of France around the turn of the twentieth century. Both John Etchepare and John Etchart came from extremely modest circumstances in the old country and both traveled a very similar path to find success and respect in the "new world". They started in America as sheepherders following their bands by the season. Five generations later, their progeny can be found in all walks of life; mostly in the Western US, but also in Canada and Australia and elsewhere. These two big Basque families have been leaders in their communities and professions and stalwarts for their Church and the contributions they've made can be traced back to the strength of their pioneer fore-bearers. It is those brave, strong and capable people this Scholarship is meant to honor. Preference is given to students who meet one or all of the following criteria: a full-time student with demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, a resident of Montana or Wyoming, studying in the academic areas of agriculture or medicine, a student-athlete.

14 William and Diana Beaulieu Endowed Scholarship

The William and Diana Beaulieu Endowed Scholarship is intended for a worthy student who has demonstrated financial need, exemplifies the quality, character, and academic promise of a student enrolling at Carroll College, and has chosen to major in either a physical science or elementary/secondary education.

15 Joe and Helen Beausoleil Endowed Scholarship

Established in 1998, the Joe and Helen Beausoleil Endowed Scholarship was established in 1998 by Joe and Helen, in memory of Helen's mother, Marie Laurvick. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student. It may be awarded to any level student and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



16 Bill and Grace Berberet Family Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2009 by the Berberet Family, this scholarship recognizes a worthy student from Broadwater County High School who has demonstrated financial need and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise that Bill and Grace would expect of a student enrolling at Carroll College. This renewable scholarship, limited to four students per year and $1,000 annually per student, shall be awarded to an incoming or current Carroll College student enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Priority is given to an incoming freshman from Broadwater County High School, but if no incoming freshman meet the criteria, it may be awarded to a current student from Broadwater County High School who meets the criteria. Preference is given to a qualified student who is a member of Holy Cross Parish in Townsend. In the event a student from Broadwater County High School does not meet the criteria, this scholarship may be awarded to a freshman student from Montana who meets all other criteria.

17 Dr. Steven Paul Berberet Memorial Scholarship

Kathleen Berberet created this scholarship in 2007 to honor the memory of Dr. Paul Berberet. This fund supports pre-med students with outstanding academic and service records who intend to become primary care physicians practicing in rural Montana. Priority is given to students from Central Montana. Recipients must be enrolled full-time, have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA, and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity. This scholarship may be renewed annually based on a recipient's achievement of a satisfactory academic record and application for renewal confirming original intent to pursue a primary care physician career in rural Montana.

18 Dr. William (Jerry) Berberet Scholarship in History

The Dr. William (Jerry) Berberet Scholarship in History, established in 2009, was developed to recognize and encourage outstanding students majoring in history who show professional promise. It is awarded to full-time students entering their junior year and is renewable for their senior year as long as they maintain a 3.5 GPA in their history courses and a minimum 3.25 GPA overall. Preference is given to students from Montana and to students with demonstrated financial need. Students must have completed a minimum of 36 credit-hours to be eligible to apply. Demonstarted promise for career in history as determined by the history department. Scholarship funds cannot be used to replace other institutional financial aid and the awrd shall be limited to $1,000 annually.

19 John Blake Endowed Scholarship in Servant Leadership

Carroll's Board of Trustees created this scholarship in 2010 utilizing the final distribution from the John Blake Estate unrestricted gift. The funds were then matched with institutional funds as part of the Centennial Scholarship Matching Challenge. The scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior student who best exemplifies servant leadership as selected by a committee comprised of the Archbishop Hunthausen Professorship in Peace and Social Justice and the Dr. James & Joan Schneller Professorship in Catholic Mission and Identity.

20 Boitano Family Endowed ScholarshipEstablished in 2008 by Caroline and James Boitano, this scholarship fund is to be used in support of Carroll College students enrolled full-time and majoring in Liberal Arts, Social Science, or Mathematics who demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

21 Botz Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship

The Botz Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship was established by the Botz Family Foundation in December 2010. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. The scholarship recipient will demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolling at Carroll College.



22 William O. Bouten Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2013, the William O. Bouten Endowed Scholarship is intended for a worthy student from Mead High School, John Rogers High School or North Central High School, in Spokane, Washington, who has demonstrated financial need and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolling at Carroll College. The following are eligibility requirements in order of priority: new or currently enrolled graduate of the three high schools mentioned above; enrolled full-time; minimum 2.75 GPA; and demonstrated financial need.

23 Brakovec Family Endowed Scholarship

Founded by Dr. Joseph and Janet Brakovec in 2006, this scholarship is to be awarded annually to a full-time student at the sophomore level or higher who is enrolled as a science major pursuing the pre-professional area of medicine, dental, veterinarian, or engineering, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Great consideration is to be given to a non-Catholic student to encourage diversity. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship may be renewed twice per student.

24 Brooke-Sterling Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 1991 by the Joe and Vivian Morgan Brooke family in memory of Joe’s parents. Dr. J. Murray Brooke and Margaret Sterling Brooke were longtime Carroll supporters. Dr. Brooke attended Mount St. Charles College, now Carroll College, from 1928 to 1930. He served in World War II and was a general practitioner in the Ronan area for 40 years. Margaret Sterling Brooke was a lifelong active member of many Catholic organizations on the parish, diocesan and national level. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student from the Ronan/St. Ignatius area. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

25 Brown Memorial ScholarshipThis scholarship was established in 2012 by the estate of Monsignor Anthony Brown to honor his mother, Margaret M. Brown, his brother, the Reverend Patrick J. Brown, and his own special connection to Carroll College. The recipient must be a full-time student demonstrating financial need and academic integrity.

26 Bishop Alexander J. Brunett Endowed ScholarshipIn honor of Bishop Alexander Brunett, this scholarship was originated in 2005 to support Carroll College students who are enrolled full-time, maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity. Preference is given to those studying pre-seminary or Catholic students who are Montana residents.

27 Burger King Jay Pinkerton Endowed Scholarship

Created in 1999 by the Burger King College Football Scholarship Program in honor of Burger King Scholar Athlete Jay Pinkerton, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

28 Dr. Jack Burgess Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2004 by the Thomas C. Power family, in honor of Dr. Jack Burgess and is awarded to Carroll College students at any academic level who are enrolled full-time in the pre-med program and are graduates of a Montana high school with demonstrated financial need. The scholarship is renewable each year through graduation.

29 Mary Catherine Burke Scholarship

Endowed in 2004, this scholarship is to be used in support of a Carroll College student or students enrolled full-time who are graduates of Cut Bank (MT) high school and demonstrate financial need. If there are no candidates fitting the requirements available, the college may select other students as appropriate. The scholarship may be renewed until the student has met his or her fourth year of study.



30 Dr. Richard S. and Sue A. Buswell Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2012 and is intended for a worthy sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student majoring in nursing who has demonstrated strong academic promise and exemplifies the quality and character of a student enrolled at Carroll. The recipient must be enrolled full-time, have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA, be in good standing in the nursing department and demostrate financial need. The scholarship may be renewed so long as the criteria above continues to be met.

31 Byorth Endowed Scholarship

Founded in 2002 by James Paul Byorth, J. Patrick Byorth and Robert William Byorth, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level demonstrating academic integrity and renewable through senior year. Preference is given for Byorth descendants or students from South Dakota.

32 Wilda Cahill Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1997 by William Cahill in memory of Wilda Cahill, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level demonstrating financial need and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Wilda was interested in education and Carroll College; four of her five children attended Carroll.

33 Candace Cain Endowed Scholarship for Student Persistence

The Candace Cain Endowed Scholarship for Student Persistence, established in 2008, supports students with signifcant financial need and strong academic promise to achieve their goal of a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. The scholarship is awarded to full-time students who have successfully completed a minimum of 24 credits at Carroll College with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and have earned a minimum 2.5 GPA in the most recent semester. Priority shall be given to students maximizing federal student loans.

34 Mary Callahan Scholarship

Founded in 1993 by Ed Callahan in memory of his wife Mary, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll female student of any major. It may be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior female student with preference to an OTA and renewed until the student completes her course of study at Carroll. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

35 Melvin B and Ruth I. Carlson Endowed ScholarshipThis scholarship was established in 2003 in accordance with the Charitable Remainder Trust of Ruth I. Carlson in support of full-time Carroll students who are United States citizens and in medical-related fields of study. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

36 Kenneth (Ken) V. Carpenter, M.D. '69 Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2010, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student in support of his/her desire to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. The recipient of this scholarship will demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolling at Carroll College. A minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 is required to be eligible for initial awarding of scholarship and it may be renewed for up to three years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 cumulative college GPA and is enrolled full-time.

37 Bishop Carroll Endowed Scholarship

Created in 1996, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference is given to Catholic students from Montana. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



38 Leo C. Carroll Memorial Scholarship

Created in 1989 by the daughters of Leo C. Carroll in memory of their father, who attended Mount St. Charles High School and Mount St. Charles College as a pre-engineering student from 1921 to 1923, this scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding engineering student with financial need. It may be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior and renewed until the student completes his or her engineering course of study at Carroll. The recipient shall be an outstanding engineering major (recommended by the faculty) and demonstarte acdemic integrity with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

39 Cashman ScholarshipJeremiah P. and Janice A. Cashman created this scholarship in 2001 to support students from Montana. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

40 Clara Haffey Cavanaugh Book Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1987 by Clara Haffey Cavanaugh and her family, friends and co-workers. Clara was a dedicated, long-term employee of the Carroll College Book Store who befriended many students and understood the importance of scholarships. This book scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student for textbook purchases. The recipient will demonstrate academic integrity, financial need and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes their course of study at Carroll.

41 Patricia Chvatal Family Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2009 to recognize students who may not have extensive academic success but have extensive volunteer experience and activities. Recipients must be enrolled full time, demonstrate an appreciation for volunteerism and the awareness of the need to be a volunteer for the rest of their life. This scholarship is not financially or academically based.

42 Dolores F. Cikrit, M.D. '76 Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2015 by Dolores' husband, Joseph L. Schmit, and daughters, Sara and Anna. Dr. Cikrit exemplified the very best of what is expected of a Carroll College graduate and in every facet of her life as a wife, mother, physician, mentor and friend, she fulfilled the college's school motto "Not for school, but for Life." The scholarship is intended for a full-time student majoring in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology and/or chemistry entering his/her senior year who has the express intention of attending medical school. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic excellence, maintaining a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA, and exemplify the quality and character of a student at Carroll College. Priority is given to students of a widowed parent and students from Montana. Qualified students will be reviewed for a recommendation by the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences and/or the Department of Chemistry and Physics.

43 Class of 1973 ScholarshipFounded in 1998 by the students of the Class of 1973, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

44 Class of '74 Reunion ScholarshipFounded in 2000 by the class of 1974, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student who demonstrates academic integrity and financial need, and may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



45 Class of 1977 Endowed ScholarshipFounded in 1992 by the Class of 1977, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student who is a sophomore, junior, or senior and may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

46 Class of 1997 ScholarshipFounded in 1997 by the 1997 Graduating Class of Carroll College, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.8 GPA. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

47 Class of 1998 ScholarshipFounded in 1998 by the Senior Class of 1998, this scholarship is awarded annually to a currently enrolled Carroll student of any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

48 Fr. Richard L. Clifford Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2015 by Fr. Richard Clifford, Class of 1948, to assist students as they complete their Carroll College careers. The scholarship is intended for a worthy student entering their junior year who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student of Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, be entering their junior year as determined by the Registrar's Office and demonstrate academic excellence and/or financial need. The scholarship is renewable if the student maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and remains enrolled full-time.

49 Daniel and Mary B. Coleman Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1957 by Mary B. Coleman, in memory of Daniel Coleman, businessman of Butte, Montana, who during his lifetime was a devoted supporter of Carroll College and was the father of Carroll College alumna, Daniel H. Coleman, M.D., Class of 1942. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is enrolled full-time, demonstartes financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll as long as the eligibility criteria continues to be met.

50 Conlan - Regan Families Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2015 by the estate of Mary C. Conlan of Butte, Montana, in honor of Tim & Mary Conlan and Dan & Margaret Regan, this scholarship is to assist students attending Carroll College who have matriculated from a high school or junior college in Butte-Silver Bow County. Recipients must be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

51 Kenneth C. and Mary Belle Conroy ScholarshipFounded in 2001 by Dr. Kenneth C. Conroy, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity and maintains a minimum 2.7 GPA. This scholarship is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study.

52 James L. Copenhaver, Jr. Engineering Endowment

Patrick Copenhaver, from a bequest in honor of his father, James L. Copenhaver, a 1938 Carroll College graduate, endowed this fund in 1990. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in engineering or computer science. Recipients shall demonstrate academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



53 Elsie P. Corette Scholarship

Established in 1973 by Elsie's husband, J.E. Corette, along with their children - Joan C. Hanley; J.E. Corette, III; William P. Corette; and Diane C. Simperman - this scholarship is meant to assist extraordinarily dedicated, ambitious and well-rounded students who have struggled academically but who are committed to becoming a medical doctor. First consideration is given to juniors and seniors, but the scholarship may be awarded to first or second year students in certain circumstances. This scholarship may be reawarded at the end of each year for the next year to the same student, provided the student still continues to demonstrate the qualities for which the student was awarded the scholarship. If the recipient's grades, conduct or other qualifications deteriorate, and if this indicates that the student would not be able to get into medical school, the student shall no longer receive the scholarship.

54 Thomas and Neva Cotter ScholarshipFounded by Thomas and Neva Cotter in 1999, this scholarship is awarded annually to deserving incoming or current Carroll students. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Preference is given to Montana high school graduates.

55 James R. Courtney Scholarship

Founded in 2000 by Ann Mullany Courtney, John E. Courtney, Valerie Manion Courtney, and Marcus R. Courtney, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Butte High School or Butte Central High School graduating senior, or a Butte High School or Butte Central High School graduate attending Carroll College. The recipient shall have a minimum 3.5 high school GPA or 3.0 college GPA and participate in extra-curricular and community service activities. First preference is given to education, history or politcal science majors, with an alternate preference being a student with an undeclared major.

56 Most Reverend Elden F. Curtiss Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1993 by the priests of the Diocese of Helena to honor the 17 years of service by the Most Rev. Elden F. Curtiss as Bishop of the Diocese upon his departure to be installed as the Archbishop of Omaha, Nebraska. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Catholic student of any academic level and may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. The recipient shall be a resident of the Diocese of Helena, a practicing Roman Catholic and demonstrate financial need.

57 Carolyn Lipp Davies '70 Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Carolyn Lipp Davies '70 Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Jane and Nathan English in 2019 to honor the memory of Jane's sister, Carolyn Lipp Davies, a 1970 graduate of Carroll College in nursing. The scholarship is intended for a worthy student enrolled and accepted into the nursing program and exemplifies the quality, character, and academic program of a student at Carroll College.

58 Edward and Dorothy Dean Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1975 by the Dean Family in memory of their mother and father, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student who is a sophomore, junior or senior and demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

59 Harvey L. and 'Dolores DeMars Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1986 by Harvey L. DeMars, the DeMars family and friends as the Dolores DeMars Memorial Scholarship, at the request of the family the endowed scholarship name was changed in 2016 to honr both parents. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senior from the Helena area who is majoring in education/has been admitted to the Teacher Education program, has completed a minimum of 24 credit hours, and demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll, as long as the criteria above continues to be met.



60 Lawrence and Florence Dernbach Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 1996 by the Dernbach family to support students from Montana majoring in biology. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study.

61 William Diehl ScholarshipFounded in December 2000 by Mountain West Bank in memory of William Diehl, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student demonstrating academic integrity and maintaining a 2.0 to 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

62 Donahue Family Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2011 by Carroll College alumnus Brian Donahue, Class of 1973, to assist students pursuing degrees in business administration. Mr. Donahue graduated with a business degree from Carroll and spent his career in the finance profession. Mr. Donahue is excited to assist future business professionals pursue their education at Carroll College. The recipient shall be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

63 Michael Donovan Memorial Scholarship

Started in 1991 by memorial contributions from the family and friends of Michael Donovan, President and Chairman of the Board of Blue Shield of Montana, who also served on the Board of Investments at Carroll College, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

64 The Dowling Family Scholarship

Established in 1998 by Tom and Diana Dowling, the scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

65 John Downs Memorial ScholarshipEstablished in 2002 by the John Downs family, this scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior Carroll student majoring in psychology and may be renewed through the student’s senior year. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

66 Dufresne Major Endowment

Created in 2004 by the Dufresne Foundation of Great Falls, Montana, this scholarship supports full-time Carroll College students at any academic level enrolled in the pre-med or nursing programs. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and be a graduate of a Montana high school. The scholarship may be renewed each year through the student's graduation from Carroll.

67 Dumas Family Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2009, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student who is a Montana native, has been raised in the Catholic Church, and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. The recipient shall be enrolled full-time, demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA and submit a letter of recommendation from a Catholic parish official. The scholarship may be renewed for three years as long as the recipient maintains a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA and remains enrolled full-time.



68 Edwards Scholarship

Founded in 1997 by Cliff Edwards of Edwards Law Firm, Ltd. and Edwards Angus Ranch, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is a graduate of a Montana high school majoring in a non-science based curriculum. Recipients shall have demonstrated financial need, and the scholarship may be renewed until the student completes is or her course of study at Carroll.

69 Thomas L. and Helene W. Ellis ScholarshipFounded in 2000 by Thomas, Patrick and Peter Christopher Ellis, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level majoring in business, accounting or related curriculum. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

70 Jane and Nathan English Endowed Scholarship

The Jane and Nathan English Endowed Scholarship was established in 2018 by Jane and Nathan English of Lolo, Montana to support accounting students at Carroll College. The scholarship is intended for a worthy student enrolled in the accounting program and who exemplifies the quality, character, and academic promise of a student at Carrol College.

71 Ralph L. Esposito Endowed Scholarship

Established in 1992 by Carroll College Professor Ralph Esposito, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student majoring in biology who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. The recipient shall be enrolled full-time, maintain a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA and have completed their sophomore year. The scholarship may be used for the Manion summer research program and may be awarded for two years, depending on approval by the department chair of life and environmental sciences.

72 Gene and Elaine Etchart Scholarship

Created in 1997 by Gene and Elaine Etchart of Glasgow, Montana, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need. Preference is given to students from eastern Montana with an Agricultural background. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

73 Jake Etchart Performing Arts Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2007 by Gene and Mary Lou Mallette in memory of Jake Etchart, a great young man who had a profound disability but never believed that he was disabled. He gained the respect and love of all who had the opportunity to know him. With a recommendation from the Director of the Performing Arts Department, this scholarship will be awarded to a Carroll student demonstrating financial need and academic integrity.

74 Percy J. Evans Scholarship

Founded in 1991 by Carroll College from the bequest of Mr. Percy J. Evans, a graduate of Mount St. Charles in the late 1920's or early 1930's where he excelled in football and basketball, and was later selected to the Carroll College Football Hall of Fame. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll sophomore, junior or senior who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

75 Larry L. Fahlberg Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1998 by Lauri A. Fahlberg in recognition of her husband's contributions to health education and health promotion prior to his death in a solo mountaineering accident, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student majoring in Community Health or Health Science. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



76 Karrie Fairbrother, B.S.N., R.N., Nursing Endowment

This scholarship was established in 2010 by Dr. Jeffry and Elizabeth Goldes in honor of Dr. Goldes' sister. Karrie Fairbrother, B.S.N., R.N., has dedicated herself not only to caring for and educating her patients, but also to improving the field of nursing. A graduate of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Nursing and the University of Maryland, Mrs. Fairbrother began her nursing career at Walter Reed as a 1st Lieutenant in the cardiac intensive care unit. She then assisted her late husband, Dr. Gary Fairbrother, in his dental practice. Subsequently, she has worked in a clinic setting and in the hospital wellness program and has become a certified dermatological nurse and certified diabetes nurse educator. Mrs. Fairbrother is a past president of the American Dermatology Nurses' Association (2008-2009). This scholarship recognizes a worthy student who has been officially accepted to the nursing department in support of his/her goal to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College and pursue a career in nursing. In addition, this student will demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, be in good standing by College policy and have completed greater than 29 academic credits.

77 Viola Faure Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2010 by Jean E. Faure, B.A. '81, to honor her mother, Viola Faure, this scholarship is a tribute to Viola, a Carroll College nursing student in 1943. Viola was known for her tireless work ethic and for living a value-based life. Viola believed in the value of higher education and, in particular, Catholic higher education. This scholarship supports that commitment and is awarded to a worthy student who has demonstrated financial need and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. The recipient must be a transfer or a continuing student who is enrolled full-time and has completed 24 credits with a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA.

78 Fiehrer Family Endowed Scholarship Established in 2005 by Dan and Mary Ann Fiehrer, this scholarship supports Carroll College students who are enrolled full-time.

79 Doreen and Joseph Filson Scholarship

Founded by Doreen M. and Joseph J. Filson in 1999 because of their firm belief that every student should be afforded the opportunity of a higher education when they care enough to apply themselves to the task at hand. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA, and who has individual financial needs - for instance, to allow a student quality study time instead of having to work two or three jobs to be able to stay in school. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

80 Bishop Finnigan Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2013 by admirers of Bishop Finnigan. One of Bishop Finnigan's great interests as Bishop of Helena was Mount St. Charles College. Coming from one of America's leading Catholic universities, he realized the importance of Catholic higher education and devoted substantial resources and efforts to getting accreditation and long-term financial support for the institution. At the commencement exercises in 1932, Bishop Finnigan announced that, henceforth, the name of the school would be Carroll College in honor of its beloved founder. This scholarship is to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated financial need and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. The recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

81 Rose Marie Finnegan '58 Nursing Endowed Scholarship

The Rose Marie Finnegan '58 Nursing Endowed Scholarship was established in May 2018 to recognize a worthy student majoring in nursing and support his/her desire to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. In addition, this student will demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character, and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. Rose Marie, a proud graduate of Carroll College in nursing, has been recognized and honored throughout her life for serving the needs of others, especially those with developmental disabilities.

Flinn Nursing ScholarshipFounded in 1992, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll nursing student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

83 Dr. James M. and Kathryn M. Flinn Memorial ScholarshipFounded in 1989 by the son, daughter-in-law and daughters of Dr. and Mrs. James M. Flinn to honor their memory, this scholarship is awarded annually to a worthy student at any academic level majoring in Business, Economics or Accounting. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

84 James H. and Margaret O'Neill Foley Scholarship

Established in 2002 by James Foley in memory of his wife Margaret O'Neill Foley, and later revised by their children to honor both parents. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student from the Anaconda or Butte, Montana, areas who had demonstrated academic integrity. It may be renewed through the student's senior year.

85 Mike Franklin Endowed Scholarship

Created by Ralph E. Holmes and Judith M. Johnston as a permanent endowment for the use and benefit of Carroll College. This scholarship honors the legacy of Dr. Kenneth "Mike" Franklin, Director of Counseling Services at Carroll College from 2003-2014. It is intended for a sophomore, junior or senior full-time student majoring in Health Sciences or Public Health (or these degree programs' successors) who is committed to addressing the health challenges facing our nation and our world. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship is renewable annually as designated in the Memorandum of Understanding.

86 Hugh D. Galusha, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Founded in1975 in honor of the late Hugh Galusha, Jr., president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, by his wife, Jean Galusha, family and friends. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore,junior or senior student who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

87 Father Thomas J. Gannon Endowment Carroll College created this scholarship with a gift from Fr. Gannon’s estate in 1995. It may be awarded to any Carroll student and is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

88 Harry P. Gelsing Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1972 by the friends and family of Harry P. Gelsing, an alumni and faculty member of Carroll College, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in biology or a related field. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

89 Ed and Betty Gerspacher Scholarship

Ed Gerspacher created this scholarship in 1995 in memory of his wife, Betty. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is a resident of the Glasgow, Saco or Malta areas of Montana and who has demonstrated financial need. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

90 John J. Gilligan, Sr. Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1997 by Nora M. Gilligan and her family, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is from Montana. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



91 John H. and Margaret Sullivan Good Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1984 by the family and friends of John H. and Margaret (Sullivan) Good, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior student who is enrolled full-time and demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to students graduating from a high school in Butte, Montana. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

92 Dr. and Mrs. James R. Green Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1992 by Dr. and Mrs. James R. Green. Dr. Green, a 1942 Carroll graduate, spent his career specializing in internal medicine and cardiology. It is awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

93 Fr. William Greytak Scholarship Founded in 2001 by Jerome Loendorf, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student who demonstrates academic integrity. It is renewable through the student's senior year.

94 Matt Grimes ScholarshipCreated in memory of Matt Grimes, a former Carroll student, by his family in 2000, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student with financial need and a demonstrated leadership ability. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

95 Kathie McCarvel-Grmoljez Scholarship

Established in 1996 by friends and family of Kathie McCarvel-Grmoljez, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoing or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

96 Frank and Bonnie Gruber Scholarship

Founded in 2000 by Frank and Bonnie's children - Victoria Gruber, Beverly Radley, Daniel Gruber, David Gruber, Christopher Gruber, Paul Gruber, Joseph Gruber and Steven Gruber - this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level. The recipient must demonstrate academic integrity and be a graduate of Broadwater High School (Townsend), Jefferson High School (Boulder), Helena High School (Helena) or Capital High School (Helena) in Montana. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

97 Douglas Haller Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Frank and Bonnie Becky established this scholarship in 1986 to honor the memory of Douglas Haller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald J. Haller of Kalispell, Montana. It is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in Business Administration or a related area of study such as Economics or Accounting. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

98 Henrietta Hames Carroll Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1985 by Leo C. Carroll, husband of Henrietta Hames Carroll, this scholarship is awarded annually to an incoming or current Carroll student majoring in nursing who is a sophomore, junior or senior and is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study. The recipient must show academic intergrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA, and first consideration is given to mature and worthy students with a financial need who are returning to college following a hiatus in their formal education. In the event that there is no such nursing major in a given academic year, the scholarship may be awarded to a student studying pre-medicine who meets all other criteria.



99 Sharon Hance Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1990 by the Hance family, Marriott Corporation and the architectural firm of Crossman, Whitney, Griffin, P.C. in memory of Sharon Hance, a Carroll College food service employee and true friend to the Carroll Collegecommunity, this need-based scholarship is awarded annually to a sophomore student majoring in nursing with aminimum 2.5 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Firstpreference is given to a student employed by Marriott food service at Carroll College, then to a student from Lewis &Clark County, Montana. Consideration will be given to non-traditional or single parent students who also meet theabove requirements.

100 Becky Harrington '50 Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Established in 2014 by Becky's family to honor her lifelong admiration for her alma mater and her pioneering leadership in nursing and community health, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student enrolled in the nursing program who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. The recipient shall be enrolled full-time, maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, be recommended by the nursing department and demonstrate academic excellence and/or financial need. It is renewable if the student continues to meet the requirements above.

101 Monsignor Joseph D. Harrington Endowed ScholarshipFounded in 2000 by friends and former students of Monsignor Joseph D. Harrington, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is from Montana and has demonstrated financial need. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

102 Lou Frank and Bernard D. Harrington Scholarship

A bequest from Bernard D. and Marcia M. Harrington in 1987 established this scholarship which is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current male student from Butte, Montana. It may be awarded to a male student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his course of study at Carroll. The recipient shall demonstrate academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

103 Fr. Robert J. Hartman Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1997 by Gwen Hartman and other family and friends in memory of Fr. Hartman, a priest of the Diocese of Helena, a Carroll student, and pastor and mentor of the youth of Montana, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student with financial need and may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. The recipient must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.

104 Dr. Thomas Lee Hawkins Endowment

Established in 2004 in accordance with the Last Will and Testament of Martha Hawkins to honor her beloved husband, Dr. Thomas Lee Hawkins. Martha was very fond of Carroll and found great pleasure auditing classes from a variety of subject areas at the college. This scholarship is awarded to junior and senior Carroll students enrolled in the pre-med program who have demonstrated financial need.

105 Lawrence Hayes Memorial ScholarshipThis scholarship was created in 1995 by Gerald A. Sullivan, and is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



106 Jack and Isabel Haynes Scholarship

As a gift to the youth of Montana, Jack and Isabel Haynes created The Haynes Foundation in 1958 as a way to provide scholarship support to Montana residents attending the state's four-year colleges and universities. In 2016 the trustees of the Foundation, having served for many years and making plans to retire from their positions, decided to disperse the funds held by the Foundation and establish a permanent endowment at each of the colleges and universities that have traditionally been supported to ensure the Haynes family history is preserved and that the funds will be well managed in future years. Recipients shall be formally admitted to Carroll College, demonstrate financial need, have a minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale, be a graduate of a Montana high school and a resident of Montana. An exception to the Montana residency and Montana high school graduate requirement may be made for a member of the military and immediate family. Student athletes participating in an NAIA sanctioned sport and those pursuing a music degree are not eligible for this scholarship. Awards shall be a minimum of $2,000 and shall not exceed the amount of the College's annual tuition. The award may be renewable if the recipient continues to meet all of the scholarship requirements outlined above, and remains the best candidate.

107 William Randolph Hearst Endowed ScholarshipStarted in 1992 by The William Randolph Hearst Foundation, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

108 Terry Heller Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1993 by friends and family of Terry Heller, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

109 D. J. Hennessey Memorial Scholarship

Founded sometime between 1912 and 1919 by Mrs. Daniel J. Hennessey, Butte, Montana, in memory of her husband, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum of 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

110 Hillen-Troglia Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1998 by Fr. Dan Hillen in memory of his parents. In 2003, friends and family of Fr. Dan Hillen contributed to this fund in memory of Fr. Dan. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level from Butte, Montana. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

111 Robert and Maryruth Hodges Endowed Scholarship Fund Founded in 2006 by Mari Katherine Hodges in memory of her parents, this scholarship supports Carroll junior and senior students who are enrolled full-time, have demonstrated financial need and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA.



112 Cindy Kay Jones Hollenbaugh '85 Endowed Scholarship

Endowed in 2012 by Drs. Cindy and Darren Hollenbaugh, this scholarship assists female students from the Flathead Valley in obtaining their education at Carroll College. Dr. Cindy Hollenbaugh grew up in Kalispell in the Flathead Valley and graduated from Carroll College in 1985, attended the University of Washington School of Medicine, and became a pediatrician in Spokane, Washington. Recipients shall be a female who is enrolled full-time, a graduate of a high school in the Flathead Valley with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater, and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity. This scholarship may be renewed as long as the student maintains a Carroll GPA of 3.2 or greater.

113 Norman J. Holter Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1985 by the Holter Family in memory of Dr. Holter, a longtime Helena resident and prominent research scientist, this scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding science or mathematics student with financial need. Priority consideration is given to sophomore, junior and senior students who demonstrate academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA; however an outstanding freshman student may be considered. The scholarship may be renewed until the student graduates from Carroll.

114 Dr. Chip Houske ScholarshipFounded in 1997 by Dr. Chip Houske, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

115 Alden P. Howell ScholarshipFounded in 1995 by the estate of Alden P. Howell, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

Hunthausen ScholarshipCreated in 1994 by the Carroll Class of 1943, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Founded in 2011 by Ed and Bobbi Jasmin in memory of their daughter who died in an automobile accident on June 30, 1973 at the age of 16, this scholarship is for incoming or current Carroll students with significant financial need and strong academic promise to help them achieve their goal of earning a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and be in good academic standing. Priority is given to students maximizing federal student loans.

118 JCCS Scholarship

Founded in 2000 by the firm of Junkermier, Clark, Campanella, Stevens, P.C., this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who graduated from a Montana high school and is majoring in Business, with preference given to accounting majors. The recipient shall demonstrate academic integrity, and the scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



119 Rev. Leonard Jensen Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1989 by two anonymous donors in memory of Fr. Leonard Jensen, a 1934 Carroll College graduate and longtime Carroll supporter. It is awarded annually to outstanding students at any academic level from Lake County, Montana who are members of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Polson, Montana. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

120 Jernigan Family Endowed Football Scholarship

Created in 2014 by Chris, Mary and Jordan Jernigan, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student who is a football athlete and is involved in campus activities. The recipient shall be of exceptional character exhibiting a strong work ethic in academics resulting in a positive GPA index of 3.0 or more, and should be engaged in a lifestyle that compliments the values that have been created and fostered over decades at Carroll College.

121 LeRoy and Viola M. Johnson Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1994 by Carroll College in memory of LeRoy and Viola M. Johnson, who resided in Livingston, Montana, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level. The focus of this scholarship is on enhancing Catholic identity, and as such the priority for the award is to support pre-seminary students or students studying for the priesthood. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

122 Fr. Leo A. Joyce Memorial Scholarship

Created in 1995 with a bequest from the estate of Fr. Joyce, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to a student from Montana, enrolled in either the education or nursing program with financial need, in keeping with Fr. Joyce's commitment to those who otherwise would not be able to afford a college education. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

123 Joyce and Trudnowski Family Endowed Scholarship Established in 2008 by Jim and Kathleen (Joyce) Trudnowski, this scholarship is for full-time, Montana students enrolled in Education or Nursing who demonstrate financial need.

124 Tom and Blanche Judge Performing Arts Scholarship

In 1996, Blanche Judge created this performing arts scholarship in support of an incoming or current student at any academic level who is involved in the performing arts at Carroll. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

125 Kaiser Family Foundation Scholarship

Founded in 1982 by Carroll College and the Kaiser Family Foundation in honor of Edgar Kaiser, Sr., this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll pre-med student at any academic level. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

126 Kaparich Family Memorial ScholarshipThe estate of Fr. Albert Kaparich founded this scholarship in 1999 to be awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current student of any academic level from Butte, Anaconda or Deer Lodge (Montana). It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



127 Leo V. 'Skipper' Kelly Endowment

Established in 1998 by the Kelly family, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student who is a graduate of Anaconda High School and has a positive involvement in school, community and church activities. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.75 GPA.

128 Ralph R. and Mary J. Kelly Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1995 through a gift from the Kelly estate, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student who demonstrates financial need. Recipients shall be a graduate of a Montana high school who did not receive a Presidential Scholarship in his/her freshman year, and who increase their GPA one half point at the end of their freshman year compared to their high school GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll as long as the recipient's GPA meets or exceeds that of their freshman year.

129 Robert J. and Ruth D. Kelly Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1992 by Carol Boyd, Patrick R. Kelly, John D. Kelly and Mike Kelly as a memorial to their parents, Robert and Ruth Kelly, who were strong proponents of a college education, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

130 Tom and Jeanette Kelly Scholarship

The Tom and Jeanette Kelly Scholarship was founded in 1999 by Mrs. Jeanette Kelly & family, and in conjunction with former Carroll athletes who played for and greatly admired Coach Tom Kelly. It is awarded annually to a deserving male and female student at Carroll. This award is for one male and one female student-athlete, student trainer, or student assistant enrolled full-time who exemplifies the quality, character, and academic promise expected of Carroll students.

131 Francis J. and Mary Costigan Kerins Scholarship

Francis J. Kerins, Ph.D., President of Carroll College (1974-1989), created this scholarship in 1986 in honor of his wife and Carroll alumna, Mary E. Kerins. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student majoring in the health care field. It may be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior student and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll as long as the eligibility criteria continues to be met. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

132 Don and Natalie Knudesn Endowed ScholarshipEstablished in 2004 by Don and Natalie Knudsen, this scholarship is awarded to a full-time student in the nursing program who graduated from a Montana high school and demonstrates financial need. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

133 Knuth/Lahiff/Wiegenstein Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1985 by Dr. John Wiegenstein in memory of Margaret Knuth, Thomas and Margaret Lahiff, and Henry and Mary Wiegenstein, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student majoring in biology or other related major. It may be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior student and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.



134 Dr. Horace H. Koessler ScholarshipFounded in 1987 by a bequest from Horace H. 'Shorty' Koessler, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving pre-med student at Carroll who is a sophomore, junior or senior student and demonstrates academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

135 Ernest L. and Ruth A. Kradolfer Endowed ScholarshipEstablished in 2007 by Ernest and Ruth Kradolfer, this scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior Carroll student in the civil engineering program. Recipients shall be a Montana high school graduate and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

136 Carolyn Langhi Krsul Memorial Scholarship

The Carolyn Langhi Krsul Memorial Scholarship was founded in 1993 by her husband John R. Krsul, class of 1965, and other family members and friends in memory of Carolyn Langhi Krsul, a 1966 graduate of Carroll College. It is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student who is enrolled in the nursing program and has demonstrated financial need. It may be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

137 Kwak Family Endowed ScholarshipEstablished in 2010 by Mr. and Mrs. Kyung-nam Kwak, this scholarship is intended for a worthy full-time student in support of his/her goal to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. In addition, this student will demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College.

138 Shannon LaBau Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was founded by Kari and Ron Weber in 2006 in memory of Shannon, who has been missing since 1999. Shannon's family feels that this case will eventually be solved with the help of forensic science, which is why they specified the recipient shall be a Biology major and demonstrate academic integrity. Priority is given to students demonstarting financial need.

139 Georgiana Conley Lacey and William Andrew Lacey, M.D., '22 Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Lacey attended Mount St. Charles Academy (class of 1917) and Mount St. Charles College (class of 1922). Established in 2009 by Dr. Conley G. and Carolyn Lacey, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student from a Catholic high school who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. Priority is given to graduates of Butte Central High School and Gonzaga Prep High School. Recipients shall be a full-time student, a U.S. citizen and demonstrate financial need. No minimum GPA is required for the initial awarding of the scholarship; however, the scholarship may be renewed for up to three years as long as the recipient maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, remains enrolled full-time and no other qualified candidates demonstrate a greater financial need.

140 Frederick N. LaLonde Memorial ScholarshipFounded in 1993 by the estate of Robert W. LaLonde, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

141 Stanley and Charlotte Lane Endowed ScholarshipCreated in 2007 by the Lane children - Martin, Charles and Lori - to honor their father who had a 43 year career in Metallurgy, and their loving mother Charlotte, this scholarship is awarded to a full-time junior or senior student majoring in engineering who demonstrates academic integrity and financial need.



142 Henry and Sharon Lang Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2009 to recognize high achieving students from St. Mary's Parish in the Diocese of Helena and/or nursing students active in their Catholic parish from the Helena area who choose to pursue academic study with the intent of achieving a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

143 H. H. 'Larry' Larison Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2010, this scholarship supports students who have completed a minimum of 28 academic credits at Carroll while maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and declare a major in history or political science. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. It may be renewed through the recipient's senior year (not a fifth year) as long as the eligibility requirements continue to be met.

144 L. Hoyt and Miller Larison Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2010 by Hoyt H. 'Larry' Larison, this scholarship supports students who have completed a minimum of 28 academic credits at Carroll while maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and declare a major in history or political science. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. It may be renewed through the recipient's senior year (not a fifth year) as long as the eligibility requirements continue to be met.

Created in 1984 by Mr. and Mrs. James Lechner in memory of their daughter, Cynthia, who was a Biology/Pre-med student at Carroll, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in biology or pre-med. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

148 Michael Patrick Lee Scholarship

Established in 2016 by Logan McInnis and Brian Topel to honor their college roommate and long-term friend, Michael Patrick Lee who passed away in 2012. The scholarship is intended for a worthy Montana high school student who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic excellence and can be renewed if the student has earned a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and remains enrolled full-time.

149 Judge Lester H. Loble Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1978 by Sylvia Loble, wife of Judge Loble, and the Judge Lester H. Loble Foundation in memory of Judge Loble, a noted jurist and attorney, who practiced law and served as district judge in Helena, Montana. It is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior student studying pre-law and is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.



150 George C. and Helen T. Loendorf Scholarship

The descendants of George and Helen Loendorf established this scholarship in 1998. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates good moral character and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

151 Lopach Family Scholarship

Founded in 1998 by John (1960), James (1964), Michael (1970), and Angie (1997) Lopach, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and maintains a 3.4 or above college GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

152 Fr. Jerry Lowney Social Justice Scholarship

Established in 1993, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current practicing Roman Catholic student at any academic level from the Diocese of Helena. It is meant to encourage students to become acquainted with and put into practice the social justice teachings of the Catholic Church. Recipients shall complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service to the needy per semester, complete a minimum of one course per academic year dealing with social justice issues and/or Catholic social teachings, and demonstrate financial need as evidenced by a family income of no more than 50% above the federal poverty level. Preference is given to sociology majors, then sociology minors. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

153 Honorable Jeremiah and Teri Darragh Lynch and Family Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2002 by the Honorable Jeremiah and Teri Lynch, this scholarship supports full-time students at any academic level from the Great Falls, Butte or Anaconda (Montana) areas who demonstrate financial need and academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes their course of study at Carroll.

154 Father J. Joseph Mackin Endowed ScholarshipEstablished in 2003 by Joseph E. and Mary Pat Kasperick, this scholarship is to be awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student enrolled full-time as a business major, with economic or finance options, who demonstrates academic integrity and financial need. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study.

155 Vincent J. and Margaret M. MacKinnon Memorial ScholarshipFounded in 1969 by the estate of Miss Catherine Frances MacKinnon, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior female student who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes her course of study at Carroll.

156 Joseph A. Maierle Family Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1991 to honor the memory of the donor and his family. Joseph A. Maierle began high school at Mount St. Charles High School in September 1923, graduating in 1927 and then pursued his pre-engineering studies at Mount St. Charles College, graduating in 1929 with a certificate in basic engineering. The scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding high school student entering their freshman year at Carroll College who is majoring in engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to freshman students majoring in civil engineering. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her engineering course of study at Carroll, provided the student maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA.

158 Mallette Campus Ministry Endowed Scholarship

Gene and Mary Lou Mallette established this scholarship in 2008 to recognize and support Carroll's mission as a Catholic college and its commitment to campus ministry for its students. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, participate in the campus ministry program and be willing to lead a weekly group rosary for the causes of pro-life and peace. Award will be $1,500 per year through distributions of $750 per semester.

159 Mallette Endowed Athletic ScholarshipEstablished in 2008 by Gene and Mary Lou Mallette, this scholarship is awarded to a football athlete who is a Montana native and enrolled full-time. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity. Award will be $3,000 per year through distributions of $1,500 per semester.

160 Mallette Seminary Scholarship

Founded in 2000 by Gene and Mary Lou Mallette, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll pre-seminary student at any academic level. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes their course of study at Carroll.

161 Rudy and Ann Malnar Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1993 by Fr. Stan Malnar. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level. Recipients shall demonstrate personal integrity, financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.25 GPA. Preference is given to students from Montana and who are Catholic and active in their parish community. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

162 Mike Malone Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1999 by Frank and Bonnie Becky in memory of Frank's friend, Mike Malone, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to an orphaned or displaced child. This scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

163 Charles Mandeville Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1991 by the faculty and staff of Carroll College and the family and friends of Charlie Mandeville, this scholarship is awarded annually to a sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in accounting or business. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

164 Mike Mansfield Memorial Endowment

This scholarship was established in 2003 by the three Hahn brothers: Fred J. (and Pearl) Hahn, class of 1955; Dr. Richard Gillis Hahn, class of 1953; and in the memory of Dr. Robert F. Hahn, class of 1950. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

Founded in 1990 by John Scharf and Terry Mullen, this book scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is majoring in Math, Engineering or Computer Science. 169 Dr. James J. and Mary R. McCabe Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1984 by family and friends of Dr. and Mrs. McCabe, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior student from the Helena area who is studying for the priesthood or majoring in nursing, medical technology or pre-med. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

170 Chris and Laura McCarthy Endowed ScholarshipChris and Laura McCarthy, classes of 1999 and 1998, created this scholarship in 2012 to assist quality students studying in the fields of engineering or psychology. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

171 Daniel W. McCarthy Endowed ScholarshipThis scholarship was founded by Laurie A. McCarthy, sister of Dan McCarthy, in 2003. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity. 172 Frank T. and Nell Whalen McCarthy Endowmed ScholarshipFr. Robert McCarthy established this scholarship in 1991 to honor his beloved parents. Preference is given to McCarthy family descendants, then to students who are from Butte or Anaconda, Montana, with special consideration for students pursuing a religious vocation.

173 Fr. Robert J. McCarthy Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1993 by the family and friends of Father McCarthy. Father Bob was born in Butte, Montana, and graduated from Carroll College in 1948. He returned to Carroll in 1963 where he taught Theology for 27 years. Upon retirement he served as Alumni Chaplain. He is best remembered for his special gift of linking names with faces and for an unceasing smile. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current student at any academic level who is from Southwest Montana. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



174 McCarthy-Boodell Scholarship

Established in 1971 by William C. Boodell, a 1971 Carroll College graduate, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Native American student at any academic level at Carroll. Recipients shall be at least 1/8 Native American, and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA. Preference is given to individuals from Montana, and in the event the Lewis and Clark County Welfare Department submits applicants they are to be strongly considered. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll as long as the recipient remains in good academic standing.

175 Patricia McClarty Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2015 by Patricia McClarty, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student in support of his/her desire to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. The recipient will exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a full-time student majoring in biology, chemistry and/or biochemistry-molecular biology (pre-med) at Carroll. Recipients shall be a Montana resident, be committed to the Catholic faith, and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.5 GPA after completing a minimum of 30 credit hours. The scholarship may be renewed for two years if the recipient maintains a 3.5 cumulative GPA, is enrolled full-time and remains in good standing with the college. It is the wish of the donor that alumni recipients of this scholarship contribute back to the college so future generations of students can benefit from a Carroll education.

176 Carl and Patricia McFarland Scholarship

Created in 2000 by the estate of Patricia McFarland, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic promise, with preference given to Native American students. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

177 Judge John J. McHatton Scholarship

John J. McHatton was an artist, developer and judge in Butte, Montana. His scholarship, founded in 1906, is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

Established in 1994 by the late Peter McHugh, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving current Carroll student who has demonstrated financial need, has successfully completed 30 credit hours and who has received a recommendation from an alumnus of Carroll College. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

179 Tim '85 and Char (Harmon) '85 McInnis Family Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for a worthy student who has demonstrated academic excellence in a health science related major (biology, nursing, health science, and/or public health), and exemplifies the quality and character of a student at Carroll.

180 Leo A. McIntee Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1977 by Dr. Leo A. McIntee, Mount St. Charles College class of 1923, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student studying for the priesthood from the Diocese of Helena, preferably from Butte. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes their course of study at Carroll.

181 Nora Bee McKelvey Scholarship

This scholarship, created in 1992 by the McKelvey family, is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is a resident of the Helena area and is older than the average college student. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



182 Kay McKenna Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1996 by the McKenna family to honor Kay, who taught for many years at Broadwater Elementary School in Helena and became the Lewis and Clark County Superintendent of Schools. In 1991, Kay was elected Mayor of Helena and was re-elected in 1993. As a very popular Mayor she was a great supporter of the area schools as well as children's programs throughout the community. In addition, she served Carroll College as supervisor of Student Teachers in her capacity as Adjunct Professor of Education. In 1995, Carroll College honored Kay with the Community Service Award for her dedication to the Helena community. Kay died of cancer in October of 1996. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is from Montana and majoring in elementary education. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed unti lthe student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

183 Robert C. McKenna Endowed Scholarship

Founded in 2009 by Charles McKenna, this scholarship assists full-time Civil Engineering students from Montana continue their education at Carroll College. Robert McKenna's passion for the field of civil engineering and his charter membership on Carroll's Engineering Advisory Board helped lead to the creation of Carroll's nationally recognized Civil Engineering program. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

184 McMahon Family Scholarship

Founded in 1998 by Dr. and Mrs. John McMahon, Sr., this scholarship was combined with funds from the Steve McMahon Memorial Scholarship established in 1996 to assist degree-seeking students at any academic level with financial challenges due to exceptional circumstances (i.e. a death in the family, loss of income, etc.) that place the pursuit of his/her college education in jeopardy. Scholarship award may be up to 50% of the annual full tuition amount and may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll as long as a minimum 2.5 GPA is maintained.

185 Gene and Peggy McMahon Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2009 this scholarship supports students with financial need and strong academic promise to achieve their goal of a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. Students must be enrolled full-time at the sophomore or junior level (having completed a minimum of 24 credits but not more than 60 credits), be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and demonstrate financial need. Priority will be given to students from Lewis & Clark, Deer Lodge or Powell Counties (Montana), but must be from Montana if scholarship is not awarded to a student from the priority counties. It is renewable if the student has not earned more than 60 credits.

186 Rev. Dr. Patrick F. McVeigh Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1934 by alumni and friends of the College's first graduate. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

187 The Richard, Frances and Mary Louise Mears Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2008 by the Frances A. Mears Trust, this scholarship supports full-time students of academic integrity and financial need.



188 Raymond and Elaine Messer Endowed Scholarship in Civil Engineering

Established by Raymond and Elaine Messer in 2007 to recognize and encourage excellence in civil engineering studies, this scholarship is awarded annually to an entering freshman civil cngineering student. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time with an outstanding academic record and demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to students from rural Montana. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student makes satisfactory progress toward a degree in Civil Engineering for up to four years. Each consecutive year a new freshman civil engineering student will be selected using the above detailed criteria.

189 Paul and Mary Ann Milhous Endowed ScholarshipThis scholarship was established in 2010 and is intended for a worthy student who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, demonstrate financial need and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.

The Sarah LaPlante Miller ’97 Endowed Scholarship, established in 2020, is awarded to worthy individuals who exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of students enrolled at Carroll College with a priority given to a biology major who is also a participant in the Honors Scholars program or actively involved in Campus Ministry at the college.

191 Daniel T. and Mary Rita Molloy ScholarshipFounded in 2001 by Dr. Daniel M. Molloy in honor of his parents, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student who demonstrates academic integrity. It may be renewed through the student’s senior year.

192 Rev. William Carroll Molloy and Helen Molloy Memorial ScholarshipFounded in 1989 by Dr. and Mrs. Daniel T. Molloy, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student who demonstrates financial need and is studying for the priesthood or religious studies. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

193 Montana Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers Endowed Scholarship

Created by the MT Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2009, this scholarship is awarded to junior or senior students who are enrolled full-time as a civil engineering major with the intent to work in the civil engineering profession. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.0 or better and be a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers in good standing. Scholarship recipients shall be selected by the faculty of the Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science Dept. and the Financial Aid Office.

194 Dr. Annette Moran CJS Endowed Scholarship in Humanities

Established in 2008 by members of the Moran family in recognition of Sister Annette Moran's contribution to Carroll College, this scholarship is awarded to full-time sophomore, junior or senior Carroll students majoring in an area of the humanities, theology, philosophy, literature, history or fine arts. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.25 GPA.

195 Bishop Robert C. Morlino Scholarship

Founded in 1999 by the priests, pastoral administrators and seminarians of the Diocese of Helena on the occasion of the ordination and installation of Bishop Morlino as the Ninth Bishop of Helena, this scholarship is awarded to a Roman Catholic student at any academic level who shows promise as a philosophy major and priesthood candidate. The award may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll, providing the eligibility criteria continues to be met. The Diocesan Vocations Committee, with written approval of the Diocesan Bishop or his delegate, will designate the recipient from a group of eligible students as determined by the Financial Aid Office.



196 Katharine L. Morningstar Memorial EndowmentEstablished in 1986 by the Morningstar Trust for deserving and earnest students to discover and develop potential through higher education. Awards will be given to traditional and non-traditional students. Recipients shall be working toward a degree and be graduates of a Montana high school, with preference for those of Madison County.

197 Morrison-Maierle, Inc. Engineering Scholarship

Founded in 2001 by Morrison-Maierle, Inc., this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving junior or senior Carroll student with first preference given to a student enrolled in a civil engineering program, and second preference given to students of mathematics or computer science. Recipients of this scholarship, which may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll, shall demonstrate academic integrity.

198 MPCO/Entech ScholarshipEstablished in 1992 by the Montana Power Company, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student from Montana who demonstrates academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

199 Mrs. 'P' Scholarship from Eve and Nelson Seeley

Founded by Eve and Nelson L. Seeley in 2000 in honor of their daughter, Linda Piccolo, for her work as a drama teacher at Boulder High School, this scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Boulder High School who is entering Carroll College. Recipients shall be a student of good character who has participated in high school drama and demonstrates financial need. Preference is given to average students (minimum 2.0 GPA) who may be encouraged to excel by receiving this scholarship award.

200 Mullen Family Endowed Scholarship FundThis scholarship was established in 2006 by Joseph T. Mullen, M.D. in memory of his wife Barbara Babbitt Mullen, and his sister Rosaleen O. Mullen - one of the first women to graduate from Carroll College. This scholarship supports Carroll students who are enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need.

201 Munger/Butler Nursing Endowment

Established in 1984 as the Mary D. Munger Nursing Endowment by E.R. 'Chub' and Mary Munger, a former faculty member at Carroll, the name of the endowment was changed in 1994 to the Munger/Butler Nursing Endowment by agreement between the Munger's and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Glisan, parents of Sharon Butler, R.N., B.A., a graduate of Carroll who died in January 1993. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving junior or senior Carroll nursing student who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

202 Murphy Family Endowed Scholarship

Endowed by Dr. John Murphy in 2010 as a sign of gratitude for the great education that John and Cheryl Murphy (classes of 1974 and 1975) and their son, Brian (class of 2011), received at Carroll College, this scholarship is meant to assist hard-working students enrolled full-time and majoring in Environmental Studies. No preference shall be given to students based on financial need or academic performance.

203 Emmett T. Murphy, M.D., Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2013 by Mary Sullivan Murphy in memory of her husband, Emmett, who was very proud to be a graduate of Carroll College and carried that affection for his alma mater for 65 years. It is awarded to new or current students from Montana, with priority given to residents of Silver Bow County, who are enrolled full-time with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need, as well as the exceptional academic integrity and personal character that Emmett would expect of a student enrolled at Carroll.



204 Dr. John J. Murphy ScholarshipStarted in 2000 by Betty S. Wheeler, this sholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level, preferably of the Catholic faith, who demonstrates academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

205 Leo H. Murphy Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1996 by Karen Davison and James Murphy, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level, with preference given to those students who have attended private schools. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

206 Al Murray Math and Engineering Scholarship

Created in 1992 by the family and friends of Alfred J. Murray, long-time Carroll College mathematics professor, this scholarship is awarded annually to a sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student majoring in mathematics or engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

207 Murray-Aalgaard Family Nursing Scholarship

Established in 2015 by Patricia Aalgaard to encourage and assist students pursuing nursing as an academic major and career, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student enrolled full-time in the nursing program who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. It may be renewed if the recipient continues to meet the criteria above and remains in good standing in the nursing department and at the college.

208 Eric Myhre Endowed ScholarshipA Montana businessman and longtime supporter of Carroll College, Eric Myhre created this scholarship in 1991 to be awarded annually to a student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and/or academic achievement. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

209 Endowed Scholarship for Native American Students

Established in 2014 by Gary and YuVonne Hoovestal, this scholarship is awarded to a Native American student who has demonstrated financial need and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolling at Carroll College. Recipients shall meet the following eligibility requirements in the following order: a new or currently enrolled student who has self-reported his/her ethnicity as Native American on their application for admission or by self-certifying his/her ethnicity to the Financial Aid Office; a Montana resident; enrolled full-time; minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA; demonstrated financial need. The scholarship is renewable if the recipient continues to meet the GPA requirements.

210 Navy V5/V12 Program Scholarship

Founded in 1999 by Keith Zerschling, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to high school graduates from one of the following states: California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington or Wyoming. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

211 Agnes Harrington-Nelson Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1980 by a bequest from the estate of Butte native, Agnes Harrington-Nelson, this scholarship is awarded annually to a sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student from the Butte area (Montana) who has demonstrated academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



212 Henry H. Nelson Scholarship

Founded in 1977 by Ann Jancic in memory of her mother, Elizabeth Nelson Greenfield, and her grandfather, Henry H. Nelson, an early Montana pioneer, stockman and conservationist, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student who demonstrates academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

213 Warren Nelson Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2003 by Mr. Warren Nelson, an alumni and long time supporter of Carroll College, to assist students demonstrating financial need to attend Carroll College. Recipients shall demonstrate academic achievement and leadership in addition to strong Christian commitment. Priority is given (in order) to students from Bishop Manogue High School, Nevada or Montana. It may be renewed annually until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

214 Dr. Edward W. Neuman Scholarship

Founded in 1955 by Carroll College and the family and friends of Dr. Neuman, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

215 Nicholson Single Parent Scholarship

Created in 1986 by Nancy Nicholson - a Carroll College instructor, former Board member and longtime supporter - and her husband, Alan Nicholson, this scholarship is intended to encourage single parents to further their education. It is awarded annually to an outstanding single parent student with financial need. The award is available to both full- and part-time degree students. It may be awarded to a freshman and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.

216 Kiki Niedermeyer Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1996 by Ben (Class of 1973) and Joanne Niedermeyer in memory of their daughter, Kiki, who passed away gently at home in January 1995 after enduring months of leukemia (AML). Despite her youth (10 years old), she displayed unusual courage and a remarkable ability to give care to those charged with caring for her. Her strong faith in the continuity of life and the ultimate reunion of loved ones is a source of comfort to her many relatives and friends. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study.

217 Augie Nieto's Legacy Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2007 by Mike and Mary Chaet to recognize the lifelong accomplishments of Augie Nieto, a man who dedicated his life to health and fitness, this scholarship is awarded to full-time junior and senior Carroll students majoring in health and physical education or sports management. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

218 Niklas Family Scholarship

Founded in 1992 by Isabel Niklas, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is a resident of the state of Montana and is enrolled full-time in a degree-directed program. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll if the recipient maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA.

219 Jack Oberweiser Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was created by former students in 2014 to honor Carroll College mathematics professor, Mr. Jack Oberweiser '71, for his years of service to the college and the impact he made on his students through teaching, advising, mentoring and service to those less fortunate. Recipients shall be a Native American student enrolled full-time at Carroll who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity.



220 Father James F. O'Brien, Jr. Scholarship

Founded in 1961, this scholarship is meant to encourage students interested in the study of law. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

221 James Edmond O'Connell II Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2010 to honor the life of Jim O'Connell, one of Carroll's, and Helena's, best friends. Jim truly loved life and wanted to make life better for his neighbors and his community. His generosity, and his life, will always be remembered. The scholarship is awarded to full-time students who demonstrate financial need and academic integrity. Preference is given to students who are 23 or older when the academic term begins and those majoring in an area of business (business administration, accounting, finance or similar).

222 Stella M. O'Connell Scholarship

Founded in 1996 by Phil and Betty Maronick in memory of Stella M. O’Connell, mother of Betty Maronick, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving junior or senior Carroll engineering student who demonstrates financial need. Preference is given to students from Thermopolis or Cody, Wyoming. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

223 John J. O'Connor Family Scholarship

Established in 1967 by the friends and family of the Right Reverend Monsignor John J. O'Connor - teacher of social sciences - to honor his memory, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student majoring in social science. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

224 Fr. Robert O'Donnell Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1995 by Fr. O'Donnell's brother, Fr. Thomas M. O'Donnell, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

225 Msgr. Francis X. O'Farrell Scholarship

Founded in 1954 in memory of Monsignor O’Farrell by his family, this scholarship is awarded to a student from St. Matthew’s Parish, Kalispell, Montana. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

226 Thomas F. O'Hara Scholarship

Established in 1995 by Thomas C. O'Hara, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level majoring in biology and from Butte, Montana. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to Native American students. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

227 Donald and Joanne Olson EndowmentEstablished in 2012 by Donald and Joanne Olson, this scholarship is awarded to full-time students who are Catholic, from Oregon and majoring in the natural sciences (biology, biochemistry-molecular biology or chemistry) with high financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Preference is given to biology majors.



228 Don and Beverly Opitz Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2009 to assist young men and women to continue their education and pursue careers in the field of nursing. Don, a lifelong Helenan, and Beverly, a proud Carroll College graduate, endowed this scholarship in the hopes that future nursing students would carry on the excellent Carroll nursing tradition. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time in the nursing program, and demonstrate financial need as well as academic integrity.

231 Pacific Steel & Recycling Endowed ScholarshipThis endowment was created in 2008 by Pacific Steel & Recycling to support full-time students who demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.7 GPA. Recipients must be from one of the following states: Idaho, Montana, Nevada, South Dakota, Utah, Washington or Wyoming.

232 Scott and Heidi Pasek Future Educator Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2009 to honor Scott and Heidi Pasek, two educators committed to student success and the advancement of all people through education. Scott and Heidi were career educators whose impact in alternative and community education is immeasurable. Their passion and service to the Great Falls community through education shall be remembered through this endowed scholarship for future educators. It is awarded to full-time Carroll students who demonstrate financial need and who are committed to entering the field of education.

Founded in 1913 by Patrick John Patton of Columbus, Montana, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

234 Thomas D. and Carolyn H. Paul Scholarship

Founded in 1998 by Thomas and Carolyn Paul, this scholarship is awarded annually to a Carroll biology or chemistry major who has completed their junior year, for the purpose of conducting a summer research project prior to their senior year. Recipients shall have a GPA of 3.25 or higher and be selected by Carroll biology/chemistry faculty for the Manion Summer Research Program.

235 Robert Peccia & Associates Scholarship

The firm of Robert Peccia & Associates established this scholarship in 1999. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level majoring in engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



236 Andrew and Emily Peoples Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1993 by Donald A. Peoples, Rev. J. Eugene Peoples and Clare Peoples Schneider, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student who is the son or daughter of a Carroll staff employee (not faculty). It was created to honor the memory of Andrew Peoples, a long-time employee of Carroll College and his wife, Emily. It may be awarded to a student at any academic level who maintains a minimum 2.0 GPA and demonstrates financial need, and may also be awarded to students who already receive the tuition remission - to cover books, supplies, etc. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

Established in 2013 by the Petersons, this scholarship is intended for a worthy junior or senior student majoring in accounting in support of his/her desires to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. Priority is given to students who are residents of Montana.

240 Planned and Engineered Construction Endowed ScholarshipCreated in 2009 by Planned and Engineered Construction, Inc. this scholarship is intended to support future engineers from the state of Montana pursue their education at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity.

241 Pointer Scenic Cruises Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2005 by Pointer Enterprises, Inc., a Montana corporation doing business as Pointer Scenic Cruises, the intent of this fund is to support non-smoking Carroll College students enrolled in the Program of Formation for Lay Ministers (PFLM) or in campus ministry. To the extent possible, awards should be based on a demonstrated financial need, community involvement and volunteering, and successful completion of course work in PFLM or campus ministry. Preference is given to students who are a resident of Lake or Flathead Counties; however, any resident of Montana is eligible. The award shall be used for course tuition, enrollment fees and materials for PFLM or campus ministry classes at Carroll.

242 Porrini Family Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2009 by Phil and Kathleen Porrini to honor the connection the Porrini family has developed with the Carroll College Fighting Saints football team and head football coach, Mike Van Diest, while Nick (1999-20003) and A.J. (2002-2006) were a part of the team. It is awarded to a full-time student participating in football who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity. At the discretion of the head football coach, preference may be given to siblings playing on the team in the same year.

243 Pauline E. Power Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1978 by the Pauline E. Power Trust, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior or senio student majoring in Theology or Religious Education. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



244 Sarah E. Power Scholarship

Founded in 1906 (making it one of Carroll's oldest scholarships) by Sarah E. Power of Helena, Montana, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

245 Thomas C. and Ann (McCabe) Power Endowed Scholarship FundThrough the estate of Thomas C. and Ann (McCabe) Power, this scholarship was established in 2006. The intent of the donors was to create a scholarship in support of full-time junior or senior students who are natives of Montana (or at least a 10 year resident of Montana) who demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA.

246 Clark and Mary Pyfer Family ScholarshipFounded in 1995 by the family of Don Pyfer, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any acdemic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. 248 Mary Dillon Quinn and Beatrice Alavosius Molloy Scholarship

Founded in 1990 by Dr. Matthew J. Quinn and Dr. Maureen A. Quinn in memory of their mothers, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore, junior, or senior student who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

249 Bill Racicot ScholarshipEstablished in 1998 by Cheri (Purnell) Seed and the Racicot family, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is majoring in Education and who demonstrates academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

250 Arthur J. Rambo World Peace Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1976 by Helen Rambo Christensen in memory of her husband, Art, a Vietnam War casualty and 1967 Carroll College graduate, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior, or senior Carroll student. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to a member of the Carroll Choir. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

251 Rarus Railway Company Endowment Fund

Railroad principals William McCarthy and John Greene created this scholarship in 1999. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity and is a graduate of a high school in Silver Bow or Deer Lodge Counties (Montana). It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



252 James R. Reardon Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2013 by the Reardon family in memory of their father, Jim, this scholarship is awarded to a new or current Carroll student from Napa, California enrolled full-time with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Recipients will also have demonstrated financial need, academic integrity, and exceptional personal character. Preference is given to current students accepted into the nursing program.

253 Harry and Shirley Reinig EndowmentCreated in 1999 by Harry and Shirley Reinig, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

254 Monsignor Emmet J. Riley Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1967 by the Butte Committee for the Monsignor Emmet J. Riley Memorial Fund, Marjorie Harrington, Chairman. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

255 Katherine J. Rinehart Memorial Endowed Scholarship Established in 2017, the Katherine J. Rinehart Memorial Endowed Scholarship, is intended for students who are residents of Montana and have completed at least one year of study at Carroll College.

256 Russ Ritter Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2016 by members of the extended Ritter family to honor the life of Russell Ritter. It is intended for a worthy student that graduated from a high school in Montana, who is engaged in community service, and who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a Carroll College student. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, have demonstrated commitment to community service, and must demonstrate academic excellence and/or financial need. The scholarship may be renewed if the student remains enrolled full-time and maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

257 Willard Clarence Rivers Memorial ScholarshipThe estate of Martha Mae Rivers founded this scholarship in 1993 to be awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstartes financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completed his or her course of study at Carroll.

258 Bruce and Kerrie Robertson Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2010 by Bruce and Kerrie Robertson, this scholarship is intended for a worthy Montana high school graduate in support of his/her desire to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. This student will demonstrate financial need and exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. The scholarship shall be awarded to a qualified student, either new or continuing, with preference given to graduates of Billings Central Catholic HS, Big Sandy HS or Laurel HS. It is renewable to the recipient through his/her senior year, but does not include a 5th year, by maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

259 James and Geraldine Robinson and Father Joseph P. Sullivan Scholarship

Founded in 1991 by the family of James and Geraldine and renamed in 2009 to include Geraldine's brother, Fr. Jospeh P. Sullivan, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student in any four years of study and renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll. Preference will be given to a single parent or a child of a single parent family with demonstrated financial need who maintains a minimum 2.25 GPA, participates in at least one college sanctioned extracurricular activity, and is recognized as a good citizen.



260 Sister Miriam Clare Roesler Scholarship

'Founded in 1984 by Patricia Curtis Petty in recognition of the inspiring teaching and individual care shown by Sister Miriam Clare Roesler during her tenure as a professor in the English department of Carroll College. Sister Miriam Clare Roesler initiated the summer European study groups and was a much loved Carroll College professor. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in English, Political Science, Foreign Language or History. Recipients shall be involved in travel and studying abroad (especially in England), and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

261 Jim and Lin Roscoe ScholarshipFounded in 2007 by James and Linda Roscoe, and Emily Roscoe, wife of the late William P. Roscoe, Jr. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student at any level and any academic major and is renewable at the discretion of Carroll College.

262 Rotsinger Family Memorial Scholarship

Created in 1984 by Donald Rotsinger, Sr. in memory of his son, Donnie, who attended Carroll as a freshman, this scholarship now serves to honor Donald, his loving wife Sarah, and Donnie. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current full-time Carroll student who demonstrates academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her degree at Carroll.

263 Reverend Stephen C. Rowan ScholarshipCarroll’s Interim President, (Rev.) Stephen C. Rowan, Ph.D., established this scholarship in 2001 to be awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity. 264 John D. Ryan ScholarshipFounded in 1906 by John D. Ryan of Butte, Montana, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

265 The Honorable Mike Salvagni Endowment Established in 2018 by The Honorable Mike Salvagni, '69, to provide support for the pre-law studies program at Carroll College through student professional development and guest speakers or lecturers.

266 Scanlon-Stallard Scholarship

Established in 1990 by Margaret Stallard Pike and her brothers and sisters in memory of their parents, Berl and Helen (Scanlon) Stallard, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates financial need. Preference is given to students from Eastern Montana. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

267 Norman D. Schneckloth & Howard T. Schneckloth Endowment

Founded by Mrs. Lenora E. McBirney in November 2002 in memory of her brothers, Norman and Howard Schneckloth. After reaching full endowment, the scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student. It may be awarded to any level student and renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



268 Schneider Lall Family Scholarship

Established in 2015 by Sandra (Schneider), Rajesh and Daniel Lall to provide financial assistance to worthy students enrolled in the engineering (civil engineering, engineering science, dual degree programs or future engineering programs) and business (accounting, business administration, finance or future business related programs) fields who exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and demonstrate financial need with an estimated family contribution below the cost of attendance and not eligible for federal financial aid grants. The scholarship is renewable if the student remains enrolled full-time while mantaining a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA. The donors prefer that the scholarship assist one student until their financial need is met or until the scholarship amount per recipient reaches $2,500.

269 Schnitzler Heritage Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1999 by John Sullivan in memory of his mother (Helen Schnitzler Sullivan Hornby), his sister (Mary Catherine Hornby), and his grandparents (J.W. and Katherine Schnitzler). The Schnitzlers were a pioneer family in northeastern Montana - active in ranching, banking and other development of that portion of the state -since 1910. For three generations the family has appreciated the unique qualities of Montana life, and been devoted to their preservation. This scholarship is awarded annually to Montana students, with preference given to those from Roosevelt and Sheridan counties, who demonstrate academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients must be willing to accept an internship at the Montana Historical Society, another non-profit organization in Helena or perform community service at the direction of the college. Students receiving athletic scholarships are not eligible.

270 Bob Scriver Memorial BursaryIn 2002, Mrs. D. Lorraine Scriver, widow of renowned Montana artist Bob Scriver, established this scholarship to be awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student studying in the area of sculpting, painting, art or music who demonstartes academic integrity. It may be renewed through the student's senior year.

271 Seat of Wisdom Scholarship

Established in 1985 by Reverend John J. Wang of Missoula, MT, this scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior Carroll student pursuing a baccalaureate degree who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minumum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

272 Nelson L. Seeley Scholarship

Founded by Nelson L. Seeley in 1999, this scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Baker High School who is a student of good character that requires financial assistance to attend college. Preference is given to average students (at least 2.0 GPA) who may be encouraged to excel by receiving this award. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll, not to exceed four years.

273 Nelson L. and Eve Seeley Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2016 by Nelson L. Seeley, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student from the First Presbyterian Church in Helena, Montana with demonstrated financial need who exemplifies the quality, character, and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. Recipients shall be a new admitted student, enrolled full-time, with a minimum 2.75 cumulative high school GPA and who attends the First Presbyterian Church and is recommended by the church pastor and selection committee.



274 Mrs. 'P' Linda Seeley Piccolo Endowed Scholarship

Established by Nelson and Eve Seeley in 2000, to honor their daughter, Linda Seeley Piccolo and her wonderful and inspiring career as a drama teacher at Jefferson High School, the Mrs. ‘P’ Linda Seeley Piccolo Endowed Scholarship is intended for a worthy student from Jefferson High School (Boulder, MT) in support of his/her desire to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. The scholarship recipient will exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student majoring in theatre (priority) or other academic programs at the college.

275 Linda Seeley Piccolo Mariah's Challenge Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Nelson Seeley in 2010 in recognition of Linda's commitment to the prevention of under-age drinking and driving that inspired her play, Mariah's Challenge, in memory of Mariah Daye McCarthy. It is awarded to an incoming Carroll student who is a graduate of Butte High School (priority) or Butte Central High School and who has a letter from a high school or Mariah's Challenge Foundation official certifying that he/she has accepted and completed Mariah's Challenge of: students under the age of 21 do not drink and never get in a car with someone who has been drinking; students over the age of 21 will not drink and drive and will be a good role model for children; no minor in possession or other alcohol related offense; and refrain from use of illegal drugs).

276 Seiler Single Parent Scholarship

Started in 1991 by Art Seiler and Karen Seiler, the purpose of this scholarship is to encourage single parents to further their education. It is awarded annually to an outstanding single parent student with financial needs. It may be awarded to a part-time or full-time freshman and renewed until the student completes his/her course of study at Carroll, provided the student maintains a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference is given to single mothers.

277 Semmens Family 'Stay at Carroll' Endowed Scholarship

Mark and Rosemary Semmens established this endowment in 2009 to provide a $1,000 grant each for one to three qualifying Carroll students returning for their sophomore, junior, or senior year. The scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to full-time students who desire to remain at Carroll but are considering withdrawing or transferring to another institution due to financial hardship in meeting tuition and fee obligations. Recipients shall be from Montana and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

278 Donald J. and Mary A. Shaughnessy Scholarship

Established in 2003 by Donald and Mary Shaughnessy, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity. Preference is given to students who are Catholic and from Montana. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

279 Father Daniel B. Shea Endowed Scholarship

Founded in 1999 by Fr. Daniel B. Shea, this scholarship is awarded to deserving Carroll students enrolled full-time who are from the Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Helena, Montana. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. If no student from the Our Lady of the Valley Parish is eligible, it may be awarded to a student from another Helena-area Catholic parish who meets all other requirements.

280 Mary Sheehy Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Mary Sheehy by her family and friends, especially her two sons who are Carroll graduates (John Sheehy '66 and Dennis Sheehy '71). Mary became an R.N. in 1933 and was a former employee of Carroll College. The scholarship is awarded annually to a sophomore, junior or senior student majoring in nursing who demonstrates financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her nursing degree at Carroll.



281 Les Sheridan Scholarship

Mrs. Sarajane Corette established this scholarship in 1991. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll at any academic level student from Montana. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

282 William Sherman Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2003 by Roger Sherman, son and executor of the estate of William Sherman, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is from the United States, demonstrates academic integrity and is interested in the study of American history. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

283 Shevlin Family Endowed Scholarship

The Shevlin Family Endowed Scholarship was created in 2011 to assist future educators engaged in community service. The Shevlin family started the fund and continues to give to it promoting community service and quality educators. This scholarship is awarded to full-time students in their junior or senior year who are graduates of a Montana high school, have demonstrated service to the Helena community and who have been accepted into the education (elementary, secondary or special education) program.

284 Father John Sladich Memorial Scholarship for the Native American

This scholarship was established in 1991 in accordance with the final wishes of Fr. John Sladich, a Carroll College graduate and a true friend to the Native American. The scholarship is awarded annually to a freshman Native American student in good academic standing who is an enrolled member of a Montana Native American Tribe. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

285 Joseph Slobojan Endowed ScholarshipCreated by Joseph Slobojan in December 2000, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Carroll sophomore or junior student who demonstrates academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

286 Marjorie E. Sotero Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was created in 2002 in accordance with the Last Will and Testament of Marjorie E. Sotero. It is awarded to a Carroll student of color who is enrolled full-time, and demonstrates financial need and academic integrity.

287 Catherine Spellman Scholarship

This scholarship was funded by the estate of Catherine Spellman in 1992. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level from Montana, with preference given to students from Anaconda. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

288 Fred St. Onge Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1993 by Fred St. Onge of Butte, Montana, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student from Holy Spirit Parish in Butte. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It is renewable until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



289 Marie Stanaway Nursing Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2014 by Dr. Timothy J. and B. Marie Stanaway, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student enrolled in the nursing program who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and demonstrate financial need. It is renewable if the student maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and remains enrolled full-time.

290 Robert T. and Clara (Cornelius) Sterling Memorial ScholarshipCreated by the Sterling family in 2011, this scholarship is awarded to a worthy student who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum cumulative 2.50 high school or college GPA, adn be a graduate of Ronan High School (Ronan, MT).

291 Stockman Bank Endowed Scholarship FundCreated in 2006, this scholarship supports Carroll College student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate football program who are Pell Grant eligible with high financial need. Recipients shall be from Montana and demonstrate academic integrity.

292 Keith and Georgia Stokes Scholarship

Founded in 1989 by Keith and Georgia Stokes in support of the long standing relationship between the Stokes, as owners and former managers of the Big Sky Nursing Home and the nursing students of Carroll College, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior Carroll nursing student. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

293 Rev. Bernard J. Sullivan Endowed Scholarship Fund Established in 2005 through the estate of Reverend Bernard J. Sullivan, this scholarship is to be awarded to no more than two full-time Carroll College students annually who have demonstrated financial need.

294 David Patrick Sullivan Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1969 by Robert and Ellie Sullivan in memory of their son, David, a former Carroll student and soldier killed in action in Vietnam. David's ambition was to return to academic life after the completion of military service, and to possibly become a lawyer. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current male Carroll student at any academic level in need of financial assistance. It may be renewed until the student completes his course of study at Carroll.

295 Dennis M. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship

Created in 2001 by Alicia B. Sullivan, the Sullivan family and the Byrd family, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who demonstrates academic integrity. Preference is given to history majors or minors. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

296 Eleanor M. 'Ellie' Sullivan Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1987 by the family and friends of Ellie Sullivan to commemorate her faith, love, courage and profound influence on the lives of everyone she touched, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior female student who is a practicing Roman Catholic, is in good academic standing and who manifests good citizen behavior as outlined in the 'Guide to Discipline' in the Carroll College Student Handbook.



297 Sullivan Family Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2016 in honor of their parents, Butte natives Dan and Virginia Sullivan, and in memory of their sister, Mary Kay Sullivan ('75-'76), Dannette M. Sullivan ('72) and John M. Sullivan ('80), through their estates, establish The Sullivan Family Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship is intended for a student from Silver Bow County (priority considereation) or a Montana high school graduate who has demonstrated financial need and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. The award can be renewed through degree completion pending satisfactory academic progess as outlined above.

298 Peter and Sheila Sullivan Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2012 by Peter Sullivan, Carroll Class of 1957, this scholarship is meant to assist worthy students majoring in performing arts or business-related fields who exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. It is renewable through graduation if the student continues to meet the requirements above.

299 Stephen and Elma M. Sullivan Scholarship

Established in 1966 by J. Donald Sullivan and Elma Neidermeyer in honor of their parents, Stephen and Elma Sullivan, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

300 Dr. Robert Swartout Endowed Scholarship

The Dr. Robert Swartout Endowed Scholarship was established in 2017 by Tom and Kim Whyte, to honor the legacy of Dr. Swartout, a beloved history professor who inspired students for 36 years. His example, dedication, and tireless commitment to his students encouraged everyone around him to pursue excellence regardless of their field of endeavor. 301 Eugene Taconette ScholarshipCreated in 1996 by the estate of Eugene Taconette, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

302 Tahoe Endowed Scholarship for Seattle Area Students

Established in 2011, this scholarship provides necessary funds to assist in the retention of qualified students. These funds are an addition to the student's initial institutional financial aid award and cannot be used to replace other institutional financial aid. Recipients shall be a graduate of a Seattle-area high school, be enrolled full-time at Carroll, demonstrate financial need and have completed at least 24 credits at Carroll with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the most recent semester. Priority is given to students maximizing federal student loans.

303 Bishop George Thomas Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in honor of Bishop Thomas by the Priests of the Diocese of Helena in 2006. It is meant to support Carroll College students who are enrolled full-time, demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.2 GPA. First preference is given to pre-seminary students and second preference is given to Catholic students from Montana.



304 Bishop George Leo Thomas Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2016 by James and Janet Sinegal to honor Bishop George Leo Thomas, this scholarship is inteneded for a worthy student who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA, demonstrate financial need and represent ethnic diversity (African American, Native American, Hispanic or Asian). The scholarship may be renewed if the recipient maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA.

305 John P. Thomas Family ScholarshipFounded in 1994 by Dr. John P. Thomas, Jr., this scholarship is awarded to a Carroll student from Helena, Montana, who has completed his or her junior year. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

306 John P. Thomas Family Biology ScholarshipFounded in 1994 by Dr. John P. Thomas, Jr., this scholarship is awarded to a Carroll biology student from Helena, Montana, who has completed his or her junior year. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

307 Emmett and Ann Thornton Endowed Scholarship

Richard Thornton and his wife, Ila, established this scholarship in 2011 in honor of his parents, Emmett and Ann Thornton, to assist students from Butte, Montana, pursue their education at Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity. Preference is given to students (in order of greatest to least): 1) from Butte, Montana; 2) majoring in Accounting; 3) majoring in Education; and 4) from Washington or Oregon.

308 Toca Family Endowed Scholarship

Mario E. and Ana M. Toca established this scholarship in 2013 to honor and give back to Carroll College and the city of Helena, Montana, which have played a priceless role in their education and lives. It is awarded to accounting/business students from the Helena-area (MT) who are enrolled full-time at Carroll and have demonstrated financial need and academic integrity.

309 Bishop Bernard J. Topel Memorial Scholarship

In 1986, the brothers and sister of Bishop Topel, a 1923 graduate of Carroll College, established this scholarship in his memory. It is awarded annually to an outstanding sophomore, junior or senior student in the pre-seminarian program, religious studies or pastoral lay ministry studies. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

310 Maxine and Genevieve Topel Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1989 by Larry J. Topel in memory of his deceased wives, Maxine and Genevieve Topel, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving sophomore, junior or senior Carroll nursing student. Recipients shall be recommended by nursing faculty, and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

311 Dr. Jim Traynor Memorial Endowed ScholarshipBeth Traynor and family established this scholarship in 1998 to be awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll biology student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



312 Dr. James A. Trudnowski '57 and Kathleen (Joyce) Trudnowski Mullins Student-Athlete Education Endowment Fund

The Dr. James A. Trudnowski ’57 and Kathleen (Joyce) Trudnowksi Mullins Student-Athlete Education Fund was established by Kathleen M. (Joyce) Trudnowski Mullins in 2019 through her estate to honor Dr. James “Jim” A. Trudnowski ’57 for his life-long commitment to teaching, learning, coaching, and the importance of health and wellness, especially for young people. This endowment will support the educational needs of our student athletes to include all intercollegiate student athletes and coaches, cheer squad, and student managers. Topics to include, but not limited to, are leadership, health and wellness, sexual safety and awareness, drug and alcohol use.

313 Thomas and Elizabeth Tucci Family Endowed ScholarshipThis scholarship was established by the family of Tom and Betty Tucci in 2008 to recognize and honor their support of the students of Carroll College. It is awarded to Carroll nursing students who are enrolled full-time, and demonstrate financial need and academic integrity. Preference is given to juniors and seniors.

314 Gary Turcott Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2010 to recognize Gary Turcott for his nineteen years of service to Carroll College and its students as the head coach of the men's basketball team. As an alumnus of Carroll, and throughout his coaching tenure at the College, Gary has exemplified the quality of character and integrity expected of the recipient of this endowed scholarship. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, be in good academic standing and be a member of an intercollegiate athletic team. Preference is given to a returning member of the Carroll men's basketball team and/or a student-athlete who is receiving less than 50% of his/her tuition in athletic aid.

315 Neil and Evie Ugrin Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2009 by Evelyn Ugrin in memory of her husband, Neil, a 1967 Carroll College graduate and strong Carroll College supporter. Neil was very proud of his alma mater and the 'Talking Saints' forensics team. By funding this scholarship, it is Evie's hope that young men and women will be able to pursue not only their education at Carroll College, but also their passion for speech and debate. Recipients shall be a member of Carroll's forensics team, be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need and strong academic integrity.

316 Valley Bank of Helena Endowed Scholarship Fund

This fund was created in 2010 by Valley Bank of Helena to support a full-time sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student enrolled in the finance and/or business program who has demonstrated financial need and academic success. Recipients shall be a graduate of a Helena-area (MT) high school and a resident of Lewis and Clark, Broadwater, Jefferson or Powell Counties.

317 Paul 'Spike' VanCleve, III Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1984 by Mrs. Barbara VanCleve and her children in honor of her husband and their father, this scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time sophomore, junior or senior Carroll student who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

318 John T. Vandeberg, PhD, '62 Endowed Chemistry Scholarship

Created in 2010 by Dr. John T. Vandeberg, this scholarship supports junior or senior Carroll students majoring in chemistry who have significant financial need and strong academic credentials, in their pursuit of a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. Recipients shall be enrolled full-time, be a graduate of a Montana high school, have completed a minimum of 60 credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and is progressing toward an academic major in chemistry and an academic minor or double major in biology, business, computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics or secondary education. The donor specifies that these funds are intended to assist Carroll College in the retention of qualified students and as such, these funds are in addition to the student's institutional financial aid award and cannot be used to replace other institutional financial aid.



319 Jim Vandergeest Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2013, this scholarship is intended for a worthy full-time Carroll student who has demonstrated financial need, is involved in intercollegiate athletics, and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College, with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to men's or women's basketball players. It may be renewed for no more than three years if the recipient remains enrolled full-time and in good standing with the college.

320 The Bishop Austin A. Vetter Endowed ScholarshipEstablished in 2019, by the Diocese of Helena, the Bishop Austin A. Vetter Scholarship supports Catholic students from Montana and North Dakota who exemplify the quality, character, and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College and demonstrates financial need.

321 Wallace and Francis Waddell Endowed Scholarship Established in 2019, the Wallace and Francis Waddell Endowed Scholarship is intended for a worthy student who has demonstrated academic excellence and exemplifies the quality and character of a student at Carroll College.

322 Peter and Pearl Walchuk Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1993 by Leo and Mae Walchuk,this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level with demonstrated financial need who has committed to the pre-seminary program with intentions to enter the seminary upon completing his course of study at Carroll. It may be renewed until the student completes his course of study at Carroll.

323 Walsh Family Endowed Scholarship for Elementary Educators

The Walsh Family Endowed Scholarship for Elementary Educators was established in 2018 by the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation to recognize Mr. Tom Walsh, Class of 1981, for his service to the Washington Companies. The scholarship is intended for a worthy student enrolled in the Elementary Education program and who exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student at Carroll College.

324 James H. Watts, MD and Christopher E. Watts, MD Endowed Scholarship

Created in 2015 through the estate intentions of James H. Watts, MD and Lynn A. Watts, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student in support of his/her desires to complete a baccalaureate degree from Carroll College. The scholarship recipient will exemplify the quality, character and academic promise of a student majoring in biology, chemistry and/or biochemistry-molecular biology at Carroll College. It is the wish of the donors that alumni recipients of this scholarship contribute back to the college so future generations of students can benefit from a Carroll education. Further eligibility requirements include: recipients must be enrolled full-time, must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 after completing a minimum of 30 credit hours, demonstrated financial need may be considered but is not required. The scholarship may be renewed for two years if the recipient remains enrolled full-time and in good standing with the college, maintaining a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.

325 Anne S. Weeks Memorial Scholarship

Founded in 1998 by the Anne S. Weeks estate through the Western Independent Colleges Fund, Inc., this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and high moral character and academic achievement, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Priority is given to students in need of additional financial assistance after the financial aid award process is complete. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

326 Willis and Nancy Wetstein Engineering ScholarshipEstablished in 2000 by Willis and Nancy Wetstein, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who is majoring in civil engineering and has demonstrated academic integrity. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



327 Heather D. Whiting Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 2002 by Heather’s parents, Greg T. and Lorie J. Whiting, and her brothers, Joshua T. and Jonathan R. Whiting. Heather was a 2000 Carroll nursing graduate. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student with preference given to students in the nursing program and those who are from Montana. It may be renewed through the student's senior year.

328 Wiegenstein ScholarshipFounded in 1992 by Dr. John T. Wiegenstein, this renewable scholarship is awarded annually to a student with financial need, maintaining a minimum of 3.0 grade point average, who is a minority such as Native American, Hispanic, Afro-American and pursuing a degree in business administration.

329 Albert L. and Marcella L. Wiegenstein Scholarship

Dr. John T. Wiegenstein, in accordance with the Albert L. Wiegenstein estate, established this scholarship in 1992. Dr. Wiegenstein's cousin, Albert, was District Sales Manager for Westinghouse, and therefore it is fitting that this award be given to a business administration major. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current minority Carroll student at any academic level majoring in business administration. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

330 W. Joseph and Sheilah M. Burke Wilcynski Endowed Scholarship

Established by the Wilcynskis in 2010, this scholarship is intended for a worthy student from Wyoming who has demonstrated financial need and exemplifies the quality, character and academic promise of a student enrolled at Carroll College. Recipients shall be a graduate of a Wyoming high school with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0, must be enrolled full-time and must have demonstrated financial need. The scholarship may be renewed for three years as long as the recipient remains enrolled full-time and maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA.

331 Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wilson ScholarshipFounded in 1998 by Harry and Roberta Wilson, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

332 Saint Francis Xavier Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1994 by the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in honor of Rev. Terrance Toland, S.J., Vice President for Academic Affairs at Carroll College during the 1993-1994 academic year. It is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated financial need and academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.

333 Ralph and Joan Young ScholarshipEstablished in 1998 by the Youngs, this scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving incoming or current Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated academic integrity, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. It may be renewed until the student completes his or her course of study at Carroll.



334 Zachary Michael Zigich Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2005 by the friends and family of Zachary M. Zigich. Zachary had completed his freshman year at Carroll when he lost his life going to the Hayman Colorado wildfire, the largest fire in Colorado's history. Zachary was known for his bright smile, kindness to others and his love of life. This scholarship may be awarded to a Carroll student at any academic level who has demonstrated academic integrity, and can be renewed until the student completes his or her studies at Carroll. Preference is given to students from the state of Idaho who show positive involvement with student ambassadors or the Carroll College community.



PLEASE NOTE: All endowed scholarships are administered through the Financial Aid Office. Applications for individual scholarships will be solicited by the Financial Aid Office when applicable. Scholarships are only awarded once the fund has been fully vested and will not be awarded should the fund balance drop below the corpus at any time.
