2011 EMI Leonardo da Vinci AwardEstablished to recognize outstanding young investigators early in their careers for promising ground-breaking developments in the field of Engineering Mechanics and Mechanical Sciences as relevant to Civil Engineering, understood in the broadest sense.

Markus J. Buehler, Ph. D., Aff.M.ASCE, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is presented the 2011 EMI Leonardo da Vinci Award “for his pioneering research in the integration of atomistic simulation with methods of continuum mechanics, applied to the multi-scale modeling of the structure and mechanical behavior of biological and protein based materials."

2010 ASCE Associate Editor AwardThe Associate Editor Award recognizes associate editors who have provided consistent and exemplary service to a particular journal or practice periodical or who have made a substantial unique contribution to the enhancement of ASCE’s publication activities.

George Z. Voyiadjis, D.Eng., F.ASCE, Louisiana State University,is presented with ASCE’s Associate Editor Award. His research focuses on the damage mechanics of metals, metal matrix composites, and ceramics, with emphasis on theoretical modeling, numerical simulation of material behavior, and experimental correlations. Voyiadjis has more than 220 peer-reviewed journal articles and 17 books to his credit. He served as an associate editor of ASCE’s Journal of Engineering Mechanics from 1997 to 1999 and has been serving in that capacity since 2005.
