This week in Adult Sunday School we’ll continue with our discussions from the gospel of
Matthew. Last week’s selection: Matthew 16: 21-28. This week the lectionary reading
comes from Matthew 18:15-20.
As we enter the end of “ordinary times” and begin “planning times” (for UMC Steward-
ship and Thanksgiving), we’ll also devote some of the class time to planning for the up-
coming year.
Everyone is welcome and invited to join us at 9:00am in Noah’s Ark. Open doors, open
hearts and open minds are abundantly provided!
It has come to our attention that several of our church family members do not have access to
email. Many announcements from church are sent email. In order to eliminate the problem
of people not being fully informed we want to develop E-MAIL BUDDIES.
If you do not have email and would like to get calls when emails are sent, please sign up at
the Connection Point Table after church in Thurman Hall, call the church office, or call
Sheila King.

THE GIRLFRIENDS OF THE CHURCH SHEILA K ING
It is so exciting to see how much can be accomplished with such great volunteers. Have you enjoyed the COMFORT FOOD FRIDAYS? Be sure to thank the people who work so hard on them. We have had great success with our Friday dinners and some really wonderful food. As a reminder, the proceeds from the CFF dinners are being saved for the remodeling of the gravel area in front of the church. Our goal is to have a nice patio area instead of gravel. We are close to the goal and hopefully next year work can begin. So please keep supporting the CFF ministry. UNITED METHODIST WOMEN’S Great Northern District Meeting is coming up on September 20 at Marysville, CA United Methodist Church. PURSEue Love in Action is the theme of the meeting. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and program begins at 9. The day ends with communion and closes at 3 p.m. Lunch will be served by the Marysville UMW. The day will consist of song, fellowship, food and a special spiritual journey. Contact Pat Lawrence for further details. Maybe we could get a car pool going. Also coming up part of the outreach of GFOC is a dinner at Ronald McDonald House. The funds for this dinner were allocated in January as part of our goal to support local community programs. Several of our members, spearheaded by Kristen Scurry, will be preparing dinner (and snacks for breakfast) for about 20 people who will be using their facilities in September. Kristen has a list of what is needed. Call her and see what help she needs. Thanks to Kristen and to all who are working on this project. Do you every worry about the safety of our children Trick-or-Treating on Hallow-een? Well not this year. Linda Clark is heading up a new fun activity for the neighborhood and anyone who wants to bring their children to church that evening. She and her team are putting together a complete Halloween experience through the building. Stay tuned for more details and I’m sure she could use help. Also, stay tuned for more information on the Fall Soup Luncheon, Ornament Exchange, Cookie Exchange, Gingerbread Village, Comfort Food Fridays, and many many more activities. Belonging to Girl Friends of the Church is a great opportunity to get to know more people, get involved, and share your gifts, time, and talents.

Well, it has been a VERY busy 3 months. There has been a lot of plan-ning, a lot of help, a lot of develop-ment, and a lot of prayers. Our new Web site is now up and operational! It has a new look and a lot of differ-ent content. There are many reasons for the new site. One is flexibility; we can control what and how much we want to post. Another is cost; this site costs us less than one tenth the cost of the previous one. The last reason I want to mention here is the ability to have a “Members” area, were we can place things that we want only St. Paul’s members to have access to, such as videos that we have a license to only show to church members, but not the general public. My mind is reeling to the possibilities of this new site!
Right now, we are selling Lobsters for the Lobster Fest through our new site. Last year, we had to do a convoluted way of accepting credit card payments because of the cost to set up an easy payment method. This year, we have a real easy, secure way of accepting payments, thanks to the new site! Another new feature is our St. Paul’s Glossary. This lists a short definition of St. Paul’s terms we seem to freely throw around. Maybe you hear about SPRC and you don’t know what it means, maybe it stands for St. Paul’s Recreation Challenge. Check the glossary and there is a definition. This will grow as we identify these terms. – Hey - Do you know what BOTGOTC means? We have a good, strong base built for our site. Over the next couple of months, we will be adding new features. Some on our wish list are a Prayer Wall, a forms center, a member’s address list (restricted to

members only), and a facility map. Plus, I am sure there are things we haven’t thought of yet. This is an exciting project and we couldn’t do it without a great team. Special thanks to the team members Nord, Vicki, Lynn, Linda Leep, Audrey, Georgia, and Pastor Pat. Our biggest challenge is keeping it current and relevant. This is where you come in. If you see something that is out of date, misinformation, missing, or doesn’t look right, please let one of the team members know. We want it to be correct and valuable.
We have a new web address; it is now StPaulsUMCReno.org, in addition to StPaulsUMCReno.com. Either one will take you to the new site.

Shalom!

‘KNIT-WITS’ MINISTRY UPDATE
UMCOR PROJECT 2014
Everyone involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry, stand up and praise God
for your talent and love of yarn. This ministry is awesome. Since we
started sewing on the labels, we have given away 150 prayer shawls—
that’s just the ones who make it to church to get labels on them before
they are given away. We haven’t even counted the hats and scarves that
go to Charlie’s Wish Bags but I’m sure that number is pretty high, too.
Keep up the good work. Don’t forget, we have been gifted with many skeins of yarn for your
use. The selections will be available on Knit-Wit Sundays or call Sheila King.
Many people have shared that as soon as they wrap up in their prayer shawl they no longer
feel alone or frightened. They have reported that they feel the love and comfort from them.
God is good all the time.
