The first handheld mobile cell phone was demonstratedby Motrola in 1973. The first commercial automatedcellular network was launched in Japan by NTT in 1979These 1G systems could support for more calls but stillused analog technology. Basic mobility, Basic services,Incompatibility, Analog System

In 1991, the secondgeneration (2G) digitalcellular technology waslaunched in Finaland byRadiolinja on the GSMstandard, which sparkedcompetition in the sector asthe new operationchallenged the incumbent1G network operators.Advanced mobility(Roaming) More Services(Data presence) Towardsglobal Solution Digitalsystem.

The industry began looking to dataoptimized 4th generation technologies, with the promise of speed improvementsup to 10-fold over existing 3Gtechnologies. The advantages of 3Gtechnologies are IP based mobility ,Very high data speed, Completetelecom/Datacom convergence.

Ten years later in 2001, the thirdgeneration (3G) was launched inJapan by NTT DoComo on theWCDMA standard. This wasfollowed by 3.5G, 3G+ or turbo 3Genhancements based on the high-speed data transfer speeds andcapacity .Global radio access, Highdata speed

An Artificial Neural

Network (ANN) is an information

processing paradigm that is inspired

by the way biological nervous

systems, such as the brain, process

information. The key element of this

paradigm is the novel structure of the

information processing system. It is

composed of a large number of highly

interconnected processing elements

(neurons) working in unison to solve

specific problems. ANNs, like people,

learn by example. An ANN is

configured for a specific application,

such as pattern recognition or data

classification, through a learning

process. Learning in biological

systems involves adjustments to the

synaptic connections that exist

between the neurons. This is true for

ANNs as well.

Why use neural networks?

Adaptive learning: An ability to

learn how to do tasks based on the

data given for training or initial

experience.

Self-Organization: An ANN can

create its own organization or

representation of the information it

receives during learning time.

Real Time Operation: ANN

computations may be carried out in

parallel, and special hardware devices

are being designed and manufactured

which take advantage of this

capability.

Fault Tolerance via Redundant

Information Coding: Partial

destruction of a network leads to the

corresponding degradation of

performance. However, some network

capabilities may be retained even with

major network damage.

Neural Networks Versus

Conventional Computers

Neural networks take a

different approach to problem solving

than that of conventional computers.

Conventional computers use an

algorithmic approach i.e. the computer

follows a set of instructions in order to

solve a problem. Unless the specific

steps that the computer needs to

follow are known the computer cannot

solve the problem. That restricts the

problem solving capability of

conventional computers to problems

that we already understand and know

how to solve. But computers would be

so much more useful if they could do

things that we don't exactly know how

to do. Neural networks process

information in a similar way the

human brain does.

example. They cannot be programmed

to perform a specific task. The

examples must be selected carefully

otherwise useful time is wasted or

even worse the network might be

functioning incorrectly. The

disadvantage is that because the

network finds out how to solve the

problem by itself, its operation can be

unpredictable.

Matlab is an efficient tool for electronics engineer tosimulate simple electronic systems. Circuit simulation is acritical step in electronic product design. By simulation anengineer will know the behaviour of the circuit on various testcases even before practically implementing it. Getting thedesign right at the first implementation saves a lot of time andcost for the manufacturer. This, in turn, helps the manufacturerto reduce the time to market.

Electronic Circuit Simulation Using Matlab

Example for simulation of a simplecircuit using Matlab simulink.Simulate the simple RLC series circuitsupplied with step input and study thetime response with the followingparameters: R=10 Ω, L=1 mH, C=100uf, V=100 V. Assume initial voltageconditions to be zero

Test your Aptitudes

1. Arun, Kamal and Vinay invested Rs. 8000, Rs. 4000

and Rs. 8000 respectively in a business. Arun left

after six months. If after eight months, there was a

gain of Rs. 4005, then what will be the share of

Kamal?

a. Rs. 890

b. Rs. 1335

c. Rs. 1602

d. Rs. 1780

a. Rs. 890

b. Rs. 1335

c. Rs. 1602

d. Rs. 1780

Answer:OptionA

Explanation:

Arun:Kamal:Vinay= (8,000 x 6) : (4,000 x 8) : (8,000 x 8)

= 48 : 32 : 64

= 3 : 2 : 4.

Kamal'sshare = Rs.(4005 x2/9)= Rs. 890.
