The University of Idaho’s online Master of Science in Envi-ronmental Science is geared toward working profession-als who want to protect and conserve tomorrow’s world. Because all industries need to be mindful of preserving ex-isting ecosystems and keep sustainability at the forefront, this fully online master’s degree takes an intersectional ap-proach, examining where environmental science overlaps with soil science, geography, engineering, ecology, biology, political science, sociology, chemistry, and hydrology.

More and more industries are seeking to incorporate or switch to green technologies and sustainable processes. At the same time, consumers are demanding stricter environ-mental policies and regulations. Reflecting these develop-ments, public and private organizations have an increasing need for professionals with environmental science back-grounds to offer their input and shape efforts for natural resource management, pollution prevention, air and water quality, land use planning, environmental compliance, and waste management.

According to figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, environmental scientists and specialists are expected to experience 8% more demand between 2018 and 2028, while organizations will need 3% more conservation scientists and foresters. As well, openings for environmental engineers and environmental engineering technicians are predicted to increase 8% and 9% respectively.

The online MS in Environmental Science is a professional graduate degree offered through the College of Natural Resources (CNR) and is geared toward professionals who work full-time and have various family, community, and seasonal obligations. The program is structured like the on-campus CNR counterpart:

• Course content and requirements are the same foron-campus and online programs.

• All classes are taught by University of Idaho’s worldrenowned faculty members, who themselves areleaders in the natural, physical, and social sciences.

• Students receive a degree from one of the country’stop schools for natural resources and conservation,according to College Factual.

• 30 semester credits, non-thesis program designed forworking professionals.

• Students may complete the degree in just three se-mesters.

• Up to 12 applicable credits can be transferred into theprogram.

• Can be completed entirely online.• Culminates in a Final Project with lasting impact.• Apply year-round.
