multidisciplinary health care simulation center in Iowa

Located on the maincampus in Cedar Rapids,the 12,000 square-footfacility is home to nine

medical simulators andseven patient care areas.

Each simulation room hasits own control center,operated by a center staffliaison.

Rooms are modeled to re-

semble an ER/OR, IntensiveCare Unit, Obstetrics area,traditional hospital roomand even a home setting.

The simulation dollsin the center can beprogrammed to dovarious human-like

actions, including inhalingand exhaling, talking andexhibiting a pulse.

The environment wascreated to reect all

aspects of a healthcare ex-perience, from the waitingrooms to the check-in area,

Researchers at the Palmer Centerfor Chiropractic Research (PCCR) areworking in collaboration with the

University of Iowas College of Dentistryand Institute for Clinical and TranslationalSciences to explore the feasibility ofusing chiropractic care to treat peoplewith chronic pain in their face and jaw,classied as temporomandibular disorder
