Through our gifts of time, talents, and treasures, we serve our parish as we journey together to the Kingdom of God.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT~
Sacred Heart Church every Friday from 7:00 a.m. until
closing with Benediction at 4:00 p.m. There are spots that
can be filled, and more than two people can keep
Jesus company. So please if you would like to make
this weekly commitment to spend time with Jesus,
sign up. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin boards by
the entrance doors of the Church. Thank you!
DEAR MEMBERS OF SACRED HEART PARISH~
I thank you for sharing your faith life, and yourselves with me
these past six years. As administrator of St. Joseph Monastery
I have come to know a number of you and I have enjoyed
sharing life with you. You will be remembered in my prayers
and the prayers of the former members of the monastery. May
the Spirit of Benedict and Scholastica, steeped in the love of
God, continue to fill your lives with blessings and awe.
In the next couple of weeks, I will be returning to my home
community St. Walburg Monastery, Covington, KY. I will be
ever grateful for my time in St. Marys and the warm welcome
and support you extended with open arms. May God’s loving
presence continue to be our source of strength and comfort in
the coming weeks, months, and years.
Blessings on each of you.
Sincerely yours, Rita Brink, OSB
FR. MICHAEL’S BIBLE STUDY

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT will be
held in Sacred Heart Church on Friday from 7:00 a.m.
until closing with Benediction at 4:00 p.m.
PLEASE PRAY for the repose of the souls of all the
faithful departed especially Dona Brunner, Joseph
DePrator, Yolanda Jeselnick and James Gapinski
(Father of Debbie Gatto). May God grant them eternal
rest and comfort all those who mourn them.
PRAYER LIST - Let us remember all the sick especially
Deacon Bill Gibson, Lindsay Lenze, Tom Nellis Jr.,
Tammy Pearsall, Harry Plows, Kathleen (Daisy) Rowley,
Matthew Sharrow, & Kathy Clausen. We pray in hope
that God’s healing power may touch all those who are
sick.
SACRED HEART PRAYER CHAIN - If you want to be
placed on the prayer chain for any need, just call Rose
at 781-6430, or Ann at 834-6534. The names of those
listed on this prayer chain will not be published in the
bulletin. If you want a name to be listed in the bulletin,
please call the Parish Office.
A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
In today’s gospel Jesus was “praised by all” except at
home in Nazareth where the “eyes of all were intently on
him.” Acceptance can be hard to find at home due to
unreal EXPECTATIONS. Jesus challenges us to
“proclaim liberty” to anyone “oppressed” or “captive’ by
our EXPECTATIONS.

Only Jesus can give our lives the purpose and
enthusiasm we long for. Everything else is passing,
partial, not satisfying for our souls. But Christ's Kingdom
lasts forever, and so all we do for that Kingdom will also
last forever. That everlasting meaning and happiness,
which we can begin to experience in this life, is exactly
what we're longing for. People's dying words can be
very instructive in this regard.
Elizabeth I, the Queen who launched the British
Empire, made England into the dominant world power,
and defeated the famous Spanish Armada, died after
reigning for almost fifty years. Her dying words were,
"All my possessions for a moment of time."
Winston Churchill, England's Prime Minister
during the crisis of World War II, who many say
singlehandedly saved his country from succumbing to
Nazi Totalitarianism, died after spending nine days in a
coma. His last words before falling into the coma were,
"I'm bored with it all."
Louis B. Mayer, co-founder of the film
production company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, was a
media mogul and builder of what became one of the
most lucrative and certainly the most influential industry
of modern times - the entertainment industry. In his 25
years with MGM he earned the nickname "Lion of
Hollywood", producing more films and movie stars than
any other studio and becoming the highest paid man in
America, a political force, and Hollywood's leading
spokesman. Just before he died of Leukemia at age 72,
he said his last words: "Nothing matters. Nothing
matters."
How is it that people who have seemingly
achieved so much value it so little from hindsight? It's
because we were made for more than this world has to
offer.
Jesus came to save us from a life of
meaninglessness and frustration. It is in knowing,
loving, and following him that our lives take on the true,
lasting excitement we long for. And part of following
him is being his ambassador to those around us, putting
our lives and our talents at the service of bringing
others into his friendship.
