Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Comparing my two front covers
This magazine includes minimal amount of magazine conventions.
Doesn’t look like a legit magazine.
I created the front cover when I was new to Photoshop which is clear as it doesn’t look legit..
i.e no ISBN/date/issue number, colour scheme isn’t coherent
The masthead is unproductive, as it isn’t the first thing any costumer would notice, also it’s on the side, and it should be on the top – as it’s noticeable there.
Although it includes a website, it is not clear.
Colour scheme is coherent (as is the font)
After doing a lot of research of other magazines. This was my final magazine cover...
Masthead is bold, and much more noticeable, allowing it to be the first thing someone sees.
Cover lines are also clear and not scattered all over the page like my first one.
Comparing my two content pagesThe colour isn’t consistent – uses too many different colours.
The use cartoons makes it seem less legit and more unprofessional
Doesn’t include common conventions such as the issue number/date
I feel that this contents page has too many empty/blank spaces.
And then there are places where I feel seems ‘squashed’ and quite forced. It’s not
obvious that this a contents page – doesn’t look legit.
Doesn’t include many blank and empty spaces
Consistent colour scheme – similar to the front cover.
Includes the masthead in the contents page – which is a common convention.
I did however include these in my final piece.
