Evaluation- Q6What have you learnt about technologies from

the process of constructing this product?

Within Photoshop I have learnt how to download and use different types of fonts on ‘www.dafont.com’ to improve the look of my magazine. On this website there is hundreds of different types of font, so I was able to pick fonts to match and create the style of my magazine. For example; I downloaded the font ‘Scorched Earth’ for my masthead.

I also learnt about the ‘blending options’ and how to create different drop shadows on the text and photographs. Also how to give my text two tones using the gradient option.

I now know how to successfully remove the background from a picture using the back ground eraser tool and/or the pen tool. I then discovered that by using the blending tool I was able to make it look less ‘sharp’ and look more natural and less amateur.

By using Photoshop I have been able to produce a professional looking magazine front cover with forms and conventions of real media products.

I used Quark to create my contents page and my double page spread.

Once again I was able to use the fonts I had downloaded to make my magazine more individual and unique.

By using Quark I was able to layout my pages into columns for the text using the typical conventions of a magazine contents page and double page spread.

I was able to create looking pages that looked smart and were easy to navigate around.

I discovered and learnt how to use Quark from setting up the page to inserting all of the information and photos relevant to my music magazine.

For my photoshoot I used a Lumix G10 camera. I played around with the settings of the camera and used filters to get certain effects.

I shot photos at different angles and distances to find the best shot suitable and interesting for my magazine.

By using the whitewall and lighting along with the effects on the camera and using filters I produced a range of different photos that looked professional.

I made sure that the photos complemented the housestyle of my magazine and followed the alternative look and colour scheme.

I then edited the photos on Windows Live Gallery, I adjusted the brightness, contrast, highlights and shadows to make the photo look more professional. Even by improving the colour, making the photo looks ‘cooler’ instead of ‘warm’ to fit in with the style of the magazine. I also made some of the photos black and white.

I’ve used blogger to show the process of creating and producing a new music magazine. By using blogger it has kept me organised as I always know what the next step is. I’ve blogged each stage of creating my magazine including audience research and general magazine research so that I knew what I was doing to make my magazine look professional.

I have learnt how to use blogger and place photos, text, prezi’s and PowerPoint's on there using slideshare.

Slideshare is a website which has let me be able to place my PowerPoint’s onto my blog by uploading them onto the site and then using the embedded code to put it onto my blog.

Prezi is a website which I can create a slideshow on but in a more interesting way where it navigates to each section with twists and turns and other effects. Again I was then able to upload it to my blog by using the embedded code.
