Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing

task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to

full product?

Evaluation Q7:

Preliminary task THE PACKAGE

In this task we were coving the basic shots to show that we were capable of them and it gave our first insight into what it would be like making our own short film. Although it was not necessary we decided to add in a little narrative to make the shots we were taking more effective and interesting. However this piece of film is not very similar to the title sequence that we have constructed, but we have definitely taken a lot of the techniques used from the preliminary task into the main film. Shots like medium shots and match on action were used in both pieces of film.

As the preliminary task was our first taste of producing our own small film we took a lot of what we learnt from it into the main task. The preliminary task helped us familiarise our selves with all the essential camera and editing rules like the 180 degree line. In theory it is quite a simple step to follow but when it came to editing our shots we realise we had not stuck to it. this meant that we had to flip the shot in final cut pro. We had to learn new skills to make our film more effective. Things like the sound effects. We had a little amount of experience of the sound effects from a preliminary task so we had a good base to start from in the editing.
