What kind of media instiution might distribute your media

product and why?

• The kind of media institutions that might distribute my product would be institutions such as youtube or Virgin media shorts.

• As well as this there are short film festivals where people come together to share their short films.

YOUTUBE• What is YouTube?– a popular free video sharing web site which

lets users upload, view, and share video clips, the service utilizes Adobe Flash technology to display video. The wide variety of site content includes movie and TV clips and music videos, as well as amateur content such as videoblogging

• On youtube people are able to rate and make comments on peoples videos as well as share the links and embed the movies onto websites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Virgin Media Shorts

• What is Virgin Media Shorts??– The UK’s biggest short film competition where

12 film makers win a chance to show their work in cinemas nationwide for a whole year. People are able to vote for their favourite film to win the People’s Choice Award.

• You can comment on films you like via Facebook and Twitter.

Virign Media Shorts

• Cinemas such as the Odeon or vue are unlikely to distribute my products as there is not much money in the distribution of a short film therefore these companies will not make a profit from releasing and showing my short film.

• Occasionally Channel4 and the BBC put short films in breaks between shows, however the genre in which my short film falls is unllikely to be chosen to be shown on TV as it could be classed as very niche.
