The target audience I selected were teenagers around 17 – 18 years old
I wanted to find out what their immediate reaction was on the video
Also, I wanted to find out any improvements that they felt would make the music video better
Finally a rating for the video and example of shot they either liked or disliked
The audiences feedback will now be analysed in the slides followed:
Around 63% of viewers said they enjoyed the
“concept” of the music video
A lot of the feedback suggested that people
enjoyed the music video because it was DIFFERENT to what other people had done and was INNOVATIVE in that it was brave enough to
break certain boundaries
“Very Entertaining”
“Interesting use of cinematography”
“LOVED IT!”
“I liked how the scenes synced together”
“Was funny and made me laugh”
This group were the ones who filled in this section quite bluntly, mostly saying:
“Funny” “Cute”
This suggests that they didn’t feel the video made an exceptional impact on them
(Or they were too busy enjoying the video to get a chance to write anything down)
“Liked it”
Majority of the initial feedback suggested that the video was very entertaining and that the originality made the video stand out from the others
The BIGGEST response on character was the feedback on the young boy singer
His character and lip syncing made a HUGE impression on the audience
“So cute”
“Aww!”“Funny, amusing, cute.”
The audience said they felt that they could really
SYMPATHISE with the young singer whereas the other
character was comical and fun to laugh at
This shows that the audience understood the concept of the characters and the majority of
people interpreted it in the way in which it was meant to be presented
There was no negative feedback about any of the characters
However, a few people thought that more detail could be added to portray the “desperate guys” character
This scene and setting seemed to be the favourite shot from the majority of the audience
These scenes where also commented on as having a particular positive effect on the audience
Some of the audience, in particular the female viewers, felt that this scene was particularly “cute”
The character feedback suggested that the video might appeal more a
female audience
The video and promotional texts could be adjusted to be more suited to a female audience
However, there was nothing to suggest from the male audience that it didn’t appeal to them as well
This response was the most varied
Viewers did give good examples of where
they felt the video matched the
genre and song style
One viewer thought that this scene was good in that it reflected the song lyrics and style about a guy feeling down on his luck
Feedback showed that enjoyed and understood the light hearted tone of the music video
They felt this matched the song style and “reflected the story”
“The dancing fitted in well with the genre”
Negative Feedback:
“The artist could learn the song better”
This could be improved and would improvethe music video, but was quite difficult as I was
working with a young child
Overall the audience reviews suggested that the
video style matched the song style
Improvements have been suggested:
“Use of a better quality camera would have made the video better”
- If I were to do this again I would find the resources to obtain one, however, at this
time one was not available but I agree
this would have made big improvements
There was a lot of positive feedback
surrounding the young boy
“Cute”
“Light Hearted”
“Comical”
“Funny”
“Enjoyable”
“Loved him”
EVERY viewer rated the video 4/5
All in all I felt the reviews were POSITIVE
I learned that aspects of my music video could be tweaked so that it is further
appealing to its target audience
Also, the lip syncing could be improved in some areas
I hoped to receive further positive criticism so that I could work on improvements
However, as most of the feedback was constructive I feel that my music video hasbeen successful
