Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?Generally, my film would be watched by people that fall into the group of football fans. My main character’s footballing career is the main focus for the film, therefore fans of this sport would be attracted to my film. The majority of football fans are male according to a study conducted by the Premier League in the 2007/2008 season: 85% of the 34,827 fans of various Barclays Premier League teams asked were male. This means a lot of my audience will most likely be male. The average age of the fans studied was 41 in the 2014/2015 season however my film is not aimed at older adults but for children and teens. They make up 11% of the fans studied so it is a large amount of football fans.

Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?

Since a large proportion of my audience would most likely be children, a lot of them would be going to the cinema with their parents. Therefore, parents would also be the audience for my film. These parents may be active on social media so this could prove to be a good platform for advertisement. The interests of the children that would be my audience will most likely include watching television. Therefore this could also be a good medium for advertisement. The teens of my target audience will, like the parents, most likely use social media frequently and may use the cinema often as a social event. Therefore teens may be an important part of my audience.

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

My first shot is an establishing shot of the football pitch which starts looking at a goalkeeper and pans to another player jogging onto screen. This shows the theme of football. This will attract the audience of football fans as it is clear early on that my film has a key theme of football. Children may also be attracted to this as it shows excitement at the very start. This shot is anchored by the beginning of a song. This song is an upbeat, yet intense non-diegetic score so it also creates excitement which would attract children. The song choice was something that was identified as a positive in the feedback from my target audience. One person said: ‘Music is well fitting, went well with the sport genre’ and another said: ‘Music fit the genre well’.

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

The text used in the opening credits fits the theme and this style of text is a common convention of films aimed at children. The font is bubbly, exciting and is easy to read. This lets the audience know what style of film they are about to watch – in this case it shows this is an upbeat film and it is child-friendly. My target audience agreed with this and said: ‘title sequence fitted perfectly with the genre’. On the other hand, I think it would have been better if the text was a colour other than black. This is due to the fact that black is a dull colour and connotes fear and gloominess. However black was the only colour that I could use as no others showed up against the green AstroTurf.

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

In my film I included plenty of shots of the young characters including close up shots. This would attract teens as they would be interested in seeing a film based on a character that is a similar or the same age as they are. This may attract them to the film as it may create a feeling of empathy towards the characters and in particular the main character.
