Human-Centered Change That Works.

Organizational change consultant reaches new heights

What does it mean to consult an organization whose mission is to “provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world?” Evans Inc.’s Tip Fallon, organizational change and development consultant, provides a glimpse into life at the Federal Aviation Administration.

When the FAA seeks to design or implement a new program, Evans Inc. finds itself in the middle of the action. When the FAA sought to

implement its NextGen initiative, a satellite navigation system that

informs pilots of the precise location of airplanes around

them, Fallon led the efforts. “Our clients see us as trustworthy,” said Fallon. “They can come to us with issues that are not easily solvable.”

Though Fallon has led the organization’s efforts

at the FAA for six years, he credits much of his success to

the Evans Inc. team. “Even if my work is really demanding, I know I have a group of people to support me along the way,” said Fallon. In federal work, the need for collaboration is at a premium, and Evans Inc. knows that.

Regardless of the change, Evans Inc. is there. As the FAA continues to guide pilots to their destinations, Evans Inc. will continue to guide the FAA.

Fallon, in his sixth year consulting, recollects on his time leading change at the FAA. “There is a very humbling sense of purpose and service our clients have toward their work,” said Fallon. “When working at the FAA, you see the sacrifices they make to ensure a program succeeds.”

Future success dwells on past experiencesSue Evans, Ph.D, ascends up her building’s elevator shaft. As Evans nears the eleventh floor, her day’s objectives run through her head.

Today, she will propel Evans Inc. farther into the organizational change management industry.

Evans, founder and CEO of Evans Inc., travels into her history and illustrates her road to leading an organization that specializes in guiding international financial institutions, U.S. government agencies and private sector clients through periods of change and transformation.

When Ford Motor Company approached her in 1993, she knew it was her opportunity to chase her dream. With the help of a friend,

corporate ergonomist Brad Joseph, Evans embarked on a mission to replace Ford’s paper processes used to manage ergonomic issues with a web-based application.

ErgoRx was born. Evans looks back on her experience developing the program with a slight grin on her face. “We really did things that pushed the envelope,” said Evans. “That made all the difference.” Twenty years later, ErgoRx is still Ford Motor Co.’s global standard for approaching ergonomic issues.

Evans accredits Evans Inc.’s past, present and future success to its employees. “Though it has Evans as the name, it is as much about the team,” said Evans. “Collaboration drives Evans Inc.’s success.”

Encouraging engagement; reaping resultsHonest innovation. Healthy collaboration. Honorable relationships.

Evans Inc.’s three pillars of client service have fueled The Challenge, an internal competition rooted in building relationships, sparking creativity and rewarding innovation through social media engagement and online content building.

“It has made my relationships with my colleagues more tangible and meaningful.”

The results have been immediate, says Beth Zimmerman, strategic communications and organizational developer. “The Challenge has worked to foster great connections among staff,” said Zimmerman. “It has made my relationships with my colleagues more tangible and meaningful.”

Gross: Visual storytelling is not a part-time jobAna Gross, secretary and graphic designer at Evans Inc., spends hours at her workstation. Three monitors, Ado-be’s Creative Suite and constant inspi-ration fuel her daily work. Gross, in her fourth year at Evans Inc., illustrates the importance of visual storytelling in the digital age.

Data constantly surrounds us. The in-flux of infographics, photos and videos conveys the need for users to be able to digest information efficiently. “The competition to get information to our publics is fierce,” Gross said. “A visual is the ideal way to grab your audience’s attention and tell them your story.”

As an organization that thrives off its reputation as innovative, creative and resourceful, Evans Inc. must ensure it navigates the shifting landscape of data presentation.

The marketing team at Evans Inc. knows the importance of visuals, and strives every day to align the organi-zation’s visuals with its mission and philosophy.

“Society’s need for visual stimulation is a constant need we must tend to,” Gross said. “If an organization ignores the role images play in daily life, it runs the risk of falling behind.”

Evans Inc. aids FAA’s social outreachEvans Inc.’s Nicole Morrow, project management professional, leads the Federal Aviation Administration’s communication efforts to broadcast its System Wide Information Management program.

SWIM allows more efficient data exchanges among aviation partners, provides current weather and flight planning information to National Airspace System users and enables airline dispatchers and traffic managers to collaborate on traffic routing and rerouting.

Morrow works hand-in-hand with the FAA’s communication department to inform publics about the innovative program. Through social media activity, participation in major air traffic control conventions and the creation and use of key messages,

Morrow’s efforts have helped drive SWIM’s presence and influence deeper into the aviation world.

“The most exciting part of this experience has been connecting the dots,” said Morrow. “Everyone needs to be a part of the bigger picture.” As Morrow spurs internal involvement, she sparks external engagement. SWIM’s presence at this year’s 59th Annual Air Traffic Control Association Convention drew in a global audience of aviation professionals.

“If you do not know something exists, you cannot ask for it,” said Morrow. As Morrow and the FAA’s communication department engage publics and build relationships, Morrow says to expect SWIM’s prevalance in the aviation community to skyrocket.
