for free to promote the reading of our own history.

Apart from that,

our beneficiaries

received a package

Peter Wallet, the UNESCO Pro-

gram coordinator Regional office

of East Africa Antenna in Rwan-

da who spoke on behalf of spon-

sors on the topic “Investing in a

world with a sustainable future

is investing in education” said

that UNESCO is committed to

support initiatives to support

children remaining in school,

progressing smoothly through

the levels and grades, and

completing a full cycle of basic education with the re-

quired knowledge, skills, aptitudes and tools to help peo-

ple lead health lives and contribute positively to social

and economic development ,transformation and growth.

“Rwanda aims to transform its economy from being agrari-

an based to one tied to the emergence of knowledge socie-

ties. Education remains at the heart of this social transfor-

mation, higher living standards and economic develop-

ment. UNESCO ,as the lead United Nations Agency, in

education, science, culture and communication strongly

advocates in robust and sustainable investment in these

important domains”. He said

He also showed statics of education between girls and boys

based on the data from UNESCO in 2013 and emphasize

that more investment is needed to ensure equitable out-

comes in education.

“Investments in teachers themselves is vital” .Peter said

Teaching should be an attractive ,first –choice profession-

if teachers were valued commensurate with significant val-

ue they provide to our children, and if their professional

status as educators reflected the enormous impact their

profession has on our shared future. This means providing

them with continuing training and development to support

them in their critical role of educating all children, in all

contexts-including the poorest, most remote communi-

ties ,and in communities in crisis. UNESCO particularly

active in supporting the Ministry of Education in this re-

gard from developing new teacher training framework, to

supporting teacher development and training in a number

of emerging areas including inclusive education and ICT

in education.

Peter Wallet, the UNESCO Program

coordinator Regional office of East

Africa Antenna in Rwanda

Innocent Nizeyimana

who was representing

Aegis Trust and who is

the writer of the present-

ed book “UBUMWE

BW’ABANYARWAN-

DA MU MATEKA

YABO” talking on the

topic “Reading our his-

tory is the way to

peace building in

Rwanda emphasized

on the reading culture

which is the root of every kind of knowledge. As

the writer of Rwandan history, it was a time to hit

the ball to the audience about the experience he

has in reading the history of Rwanda.

He reminded everyone that by reading our own

history, we shall know more about our country,

our history and help us to prepare for our own

destiny.

AEGIS TRUST delivered more than 150 books

for free that contain information about Rwandan

history ,he requested children, youth and adults to

read those books and to keep in mind their con-

tents .

Innocent Nizeyimana who

was representing Aegis

Trust

He concluded the remarks saying that the chal-

lenges in education are significant but not insur-

mountable. UNESCO is committed to promoting

these values and working with governments eve-

rywhere in the world to support ministries in de-

veloping policy, at the school level and with their

own monitoring and evaluation systems. He rein-

forced UNESCO’s dedication to education in

Rwanda and its prime beneficiaries-students. “I

want to thank again each of you here for your de-

votion to teaching and learning. By redoubling

our efforts, growth and expansion of education

T he Director Gen-

eral at Rwanda

Cooperative

Agency which is

also our partner, Apollo MU-

NANURA talking to the au-

dience especially a

generation of chil-

dren, he emphasized

that the leaders of tomorrow are the children of today.

The problem with today’s generation in contributing

to the social economic development of the country is

not “What can we do”? But “How can we do it”? He

said. There are many things to do and there are many

ways of doing them, but we have to learn how we can

do it and share experience.

The Director General at Rwanda Cooper-

ative Agency, Apollo MUNANURA

T he delegate of

the National

commission for

Children in her

remarks on children’s

rights reminded the parents

that they have to take the

first place in the adoption

of the rights of children by

accomplishing their du-

ties and help children

understand their rights.

She reminded children also that they have to be a

part of their rights adoption by discovering what

they are allowed to do and what thy are not allowed

to do depending on their age, capacity and so on..

Children should be treated in families and not on

the streets, children have rights to education, chil-

dren have rights to be protected from any kind of

violence, children have rights to be registered to

their parents. She also took the time to remind par-

ents that they have to register their children as their

primary rights and let children have a part in the

decision making that can be made on them.

The delegate of the National

commission for Children

Rwanda National Commission for UNESCO which provides expert analysis

and policy advice on United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Or-

ganization (UNESCO) matters to the Rwandan Government; contributes to

the development and implementation of programs in support of UNESCO

priorities; and promotes and publicizes UNESCO's objectives and pro-

grammes. As one of our greatest partners they help in the implementation
