What is Event Orb?

EventOrb is an event marketing portal that provides the necessary tools to event promoters to help them publish, manage and market their events worldwide. EventOrbtreats everyone that signs up on the site as an event promoter, whether they are anindividual or a professional organization promoting an event. Once enrolled, users aregiven the ability to:

Create unlimited events Add photos from the event before or after it has taken place Add videos of the event Search for events all around the world by proximity, date, time of day or category Benefit from a standalone event page that advertisers can target with their ads Network with other individuals and promoters. Allow users to grade events using a trademarked weighted average called the

Event GPA. Each promoter has a Cumulative Event GPA that advertisers can thenin turn use to select which promoters they want to advertise with.

Set privacy for events, restricting access to either users in a network, or users witha specific password.

Sell Tickets to their events online ( wip)

Getting StartedEventOrb requires users to sign-up on the website to utilize available services. In a phase2 release of EventOrb, users will be allowed to sign up for a premium account thatenables them to make use of some features that regular users do not have access to, suchas a more sophisticated Event Page Styling engine, and profit sharing from advertisingrevenue generated from their events.

The EventOrb registration process treatsall registered users as event promoters.Unlike most other event portals, Event orbdoes not restrict sign-up to only the UnitedStates. Users from all over the world areallowed to register with EventOrb.

User Pages

User LoginOnce an account iscreated, an email issent to the emailaddress the user

provided at the timeof registration,

providing a link for the user to click onto activate their account. A user canthen login using thecredential they have

provided.

User Profile URLOnce registered, a user can access their profile page using a URL of the form eventorbURL + / + user URL . In other words, if the user URL you provided was Oracle at thetime of registration, your user profile would be accessed via:www.eventorb.com/Oracle

User Profile PageFrom the User Profile pages, a user can administer most of the services available to themvia EventOrb. The initial user profile page shows the users personal details, a snapshotof either the most recent event or the closest upcoming event.

On the user profile page, a user has the ability to: Edit Profile Change privacy settings of profile

Edit ProfileThis feature allows a registered user to change their personal details.

Change Privacy SettingsThis feature allows a registered user to change the privacy settings on their account inorder to restrict access and viewing to only the users within their network.

Events PageThe events page shows the entirelisting of events that the user has

Add a New EventA user can add a new event by clicking on the Add Event link in the sub menu. Once onthat page a user inserts data about their event. Data collected for events include

Event Title Start Date and time End Date and time Venue Name and details Cover Short description etc.

Edit Event DetailsFrom the Edit Event Details page a user can edit all the details provided for the event atthe time of registration including start date, end date, venue name etc. Users navigate tothe Edit Event Details page by clicking on the Edit Icon next to the event listing on theevents page and clicking Edit Events.

Edit Event ThemeOne of the more appealing features that EventOrb provides to users is the ability to

customize their Event Pages. Event Pages are a single page EventOrb provides for everyevent that gets created. Think of an Event Page like a mini-website. More on this subjectlater, however, users can customize the look and feel of their event pages from the EditEvent Theme page.

After clicking on a radio button beneath thetheme to select it, users can then click on

Send InvitationsTo help promoters advertise or broadcast their events, EventOrb provides users with toolsto send out emails pertaining to their events. Like Event Page themes, users cancustomize the look and feel of the emails they send out.

Upload PhotosHopefully, promotersexperience a fun-filled eventand managed to capture agreat many Kodak moments.

Promoters can use theUpload Photos feature toupload photos they took fromtheir events, giving themcaptions. There is no limit tohow many photos can beuploaded by a promoter.

Once added to the site, photos can then be commented on by visiting users, which is avaluable way to foster participation and interaction on any site. This will give EventOrb

the stickiness it needs to engage, entertain and retain.

EventOrb as a video sharing platformAnother highly valuable feature that sets EventOrb apart from its competitors is theability for promoters to upload videos from their event. The audience for video streaminghas grown exponentially on the web and EventOrb capitalizes on that to present awonderful way to not just capture static moments from events, but all the actions andinteractions that went on during the event as well.

Like photos, videos uploaded to the site can also be commented on by visiting users.Metadata is also stored about videos such as the number of times it is viewed, to allowusers to search for videos by their popularity.

EventOrb as a Social Networking PortalEventOrb possesses a youthfulness thats an advantage over its competitors. Sites likeZvents.com, eventful.com etc. pre-date the Social networking era, where the web sawsites like MySpace.com and Facebook flourish. EventOrb on the other hand hasimplemented the features that have made these sites flourish into its infrastructure.EventOrb provides a fine social networking solution as part of its event promotion portal.

How Social Networking works on EventOrbFrom the user profile page, visiting users can click onthe Add to Network link to open up a popup for adding a user to their network.

Once added to another users network, users are kept up to date on events beingorganized by other users in their network. They also automatically receive more access tofeatures on another users page such as photos, videos and even profiles in general.

Adding a user to your network does not guarantee that a user will accept you into their network. A request to join a users network results in a message being sent to the user,which in turn the user can accept or decline, in order to either restrict or approve access totheir network.

EventOrb as a Message Exchange ServiceEmailing is incorporated into EventOrb to allow users to instantly send messagesamongst themselves. EventOrb provides all the necessary features to make this possibleincluding:

Event CalendarEventOrb provides a calendar that allows users to view all upcoming events by day, week and month. In month view, EventOrb shows all the days of the month, with fliers

positioned on days that have events. Users can mouse over on a flier to reveal more

information about the event as in the figure below.

Event Page URLThe Event Page created for every event a user uploads to event orb takes the formeventorb URL + / + user URL + / + events + / + event identifier. In other words, if

your unique URL was tritongroup and you were organizing an event called TritonChristmas Party , your Event Page URL would be accessed with the URL:www.eventorb.com/tritongroup/events/triton-christmas-party .

An Instant Website for Every Event The concept of event pages is crucial to EventOrbs advertising revenue model. Tounderstand the concept of an event page, lets think from the point of view of someoneorganizing an event for a second. You are organizing the event of a lifetime which isimportant enough to have its own space on the web, but still not big enough to go throughall the trouble to hire a web developer to put the page together, only to have it be of littleuse once the event is over. EventOrb helps event promoters solve this problem with adynamically generated, one page website called the event page. The Event Page servesthe following purposes:

It allows all potential patrons of your events to access information about your

event from one location. It hosts ad space which event sponsors can purchase It is the single location where patrons can leave comments and suggestions about

your event, including rating your event to contribute to your EventGPA

Event Pages are customizable by the user, allowing each event to be truly unique.

Main Pages

A Revolutionized Event SearchUI EventOrb spares no effort when it comesto the refinement of its event searchengine. Speed and usability have been

brought to the forefront of thisimplementation, providing one of the best

experiences a user could possibly have with a search engine. EventOrb allows you tosearch for events by keywords in the event title, the venue or by the promoter organizingthe event. Once a list of events is populated by the keywords submitted by a user, a user need only move the filtration sliders that show up in the right sidebar of the page to filter their search. Result sets can be sorted by Date, Event and Time.

Other Noteworthy Features

The EventOrb BlogBlogs are an essential marketing tool for just about any venture these days, needless tosay they were not overlooked when features were being considered for integration intoEventOrb. The vision for the EventOrb blog is that it will keep a keen eye on currentevents, posting information pertaining to them, and become popular enough in thosecircuits that it can generate substantial revenue on its own from advertising.

Event Geo-LocationUsing the Google Maps API. EventOrb allows users toget an instant topographical view of their locations and

the events taking place there. Events in the database arerepresented by markers in the users locale. Clicking onthese reveal further information about the event.

Event HTML EmbeddingRealizing the need for promoters to spread the wordabout their product as much as possible, EventOrb

provides embeddable html for every event that getscreated. The best example of its usage is in creating acraigslist post. One need only copy the html, by clicking on more for the event listingand then copying the html from the Embed HTML textbox. The html can then be

placed into a craigslist post, or on a site external to EventOrb. It will contain all thedetails that a user added for their event while creating it. It can also be modified to

include any other information that a user wants.

Work In Progress

Ticket Sales Module No event marketing portal could ever be complete without a ticket sales module.EventOrb will allow users to sell and manage ticket sales online. This feature isscheduled for a May 2009 release.

GlobalizationEventOrb is designed to adapt seamlessly to supporting any language there is. Currentlythe fully functional German version of the site has been deployed at EventOrb.de.
