Orienteering at Kedleston Hall Until Thu 31 Dec, 10am-3pm Using a specially designed map, find your way to locations around the parkland, at a speed to suit you. A fun activity for all ages, ideal for beginners or experienced orienteers. £1.50

Bird Walk Sat 8 Feb & Sat 7 Mar, 9am-10.30am Join a local bird expert for a walk to spot some of the wonderful birds in the park, then warm up afterwards with a bacon butty and hot drink. £10 If I Could Talk, I Would Tell You Stories Sat 15 Feb – Tue 3 Nov (excluding Fridays), 11am-3pmA new display in the Billiard Room and Museum, featuring poems and films about six museum objects, written by local school children. We invite you to consider the stories behind these objects.

Build a Bird Box at Kedleston Hall Mon 17 Feb – Fri 21 Feb, 11am-2pm It’ll soon be nesting season and birds will be looking for somewhere to raise their chicks. We’ll provide you with the tools and materials you’ll need to construct the perfect bird box to put up in your garden. £8.50

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Kedleston Hall Fri 10 Apr – Mon 13 Apr, 11am-3pm Go in search of seasonal challenges in the parkland at Kedleston and collect your Cadbury chocolate treat. Suitable for children of all ages, dogs on leads are welcome. £2.50

Longshaw, Burbage and the Eastern Moors

Explore Longshaw – Free Guided Walks at Longshaw Wed 12 Feb, 11am-1.30pm Discover beautiful scenery, from Padley Gorge to Burbage Moor, and take in the seasons with some special insights fromour volunteer walk leaders. Walks are twice a week, every Wednesday and Sunday, starting just outside the café, and usually cover around 4 miles.

No. 44 – ‘Watch a Bird’ Spotter Sheet Sat 15 Feb – Sun 1 Mar, 10am-3.30pm Can you tell a nuthatch from a chaffinch? Find out about our native birds on a walk with a spotter sheet and tick off one of your ‘50 things’.

Trust10 Longshaw Sun 23 Feb, Sun 22 Mar & Sun 26 Apr, 8.15am-10.30am Enjoy a 10k run in the special surroundings of the Longshaw Estate. Registration is at 8.15am in the café, and the run starts at 9am. The route is two laps and suitable for runners of all abilities.

Muck in Days Sun 8 Mar, Sun 12 Apr & Sun 10 May, 10am-12.30pm Join our rangers and help to look after the moors, woods and meadows, while having fun outdoors. Meeting points vary and information will be kept up to date on the website. Children can complete the Junior Rangers passport and earn rewards.

Spring Detectives – Family Trail Sat 28 Mar – Sat 25 Apr, 10am-3.30pm Spot signs, hear sounds and follow the scents of spring. Investigate Longshaw with all your senses at this amazing time of year and tick off some of your ‘50 things to do before you’re 11¾’. Trail £1, spring treat £2.50 per item

Longshaw’s Buzzy Trail Fri 22 May – Sun 7 Jun, 10am-4pm Aren’t bees awesome? They do so many weird and wonderful things, and they pollinate our food too. Butterflies will soon be starting to emerge, in all their colourful glory. Get your wings and antennae ready and join us for our buzzy trail. Trail £1, bee treat £2.50

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt Fri 10 Apr – Mon 13 Apr, 11am-5pm Collect your map, hunt high and low, use your brain power to solve the puzzle and win a yummy egg. Make a day of it with a visit to the house and one of the walks around the estate. £2.50

Spring Exhibition by ‘Art on the Map’Fri 1 May – Sun 31 May, 11am-5pm‘Art on the Map’ is a small group of talented Lincolnshire artists. Their Spring Exhibition in Gunby’s Orchard Gallery provides a fabulous opportunity to see a wide range of individual works by a selection of members.

Mr Straw’s House

Gardening Workshop Mon 30 Mar, 10.30am-12.30pmThe greenhouse contains some of Mr Straw’s original cacti specimens, plus many of their descendants. This workshop will include practical sessions on the history of the collection, how to propagate the plants and some tips on caring for them. Refreshments included and take home a cutting. £10
