Excel Reports in GP

• Can view under the Administration navigation pane.• Depending on version of GP found under other reports

or excel reports• 190 Excel reports are deployed• 256 Data connection

Difference between .xlsx and .odc files• The .xlsx files are the excel workbooks• The .odc files are the office data connection to the GP

databases• The .odc files are used by the .xlsx files to populate the

workbooks with Dynamics GP information.

• You can change existing .odc files• You can reference your own views, tables and databases• Adding your excel files or .odc files to the network

Security of data

• Security is managed at the data layer.• Users or AD groups are assigned access to rpt roles in

sql. This dictates which tables, views, and databases they would have access to.• Rpt roles are out of the box database roles that are

defined when deploying GP.• Security model is similar to SSRS reports.
