NSAN Chief ExecutiveJean Llewellyn, OBE
Dr Dame Sue Ion was appointed the HonoraryPresident of NSAN in November 2016.
Dame Sue represents the UK on a number ofinternational review and oversight committees for thenuclear sector including the Euratom Science andTechnology Committee, which she Chairs, and the USDepartment of Energy Nuclear Energy AdvisoryCommittee. She was the UK’s representative on theIAEA Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy2000-2006. Dame Sue was Vice President andMember of Council of the Royal Academy ofEngineering between 2002 and 2008 and remainsChairman of its Energy Policy Subcommittee. She hasbeen involved in energy matters generally since 2004and chaired the steering group which oversaw theResearch Councils’ International Review of EnergyResearch 2010-2011. She is the Royal Academy ofEngineering’s representative on the UK Government’sEnergy Research Partnership. She was awarded anOBE in 2002 for services to the nuclear industry and aDBE in the 2010 New Years Honours for services toScience and Engineering.

Jean Llewellyn was appointed as the first ChiefExecutive of the National Skills Academy forNuclear (NSAN) in November 2007.
This role builds on Jean’s breadth of experience andknowledge from her career involving seniormanagement and leadership positions in the privatesector, skills policy development roles in the publicsector and lecturing in both higher and furthereducation.
Jean was awarded an OBE in June 2011 in recognitionof her services to the Energy Industry and she wasappointed as an Honorary Fellow of the NuclearInstitute in March 2010. Jean has, and continues tobe, a member of a wide range of Industry andGovernment Boards and Committees working toaddress the nuclear skills challenge.

NSAN is formally recognised by the Nuclear Skills Strategy Group (NSSG) within theSkills Operating Model/Strategy with NSAN’s activities, products and servicesplaying a key role in supporting the UK nuclear industry.

NSAN is led and driven by its Employer Advisory Board. All Advisory Board members have been nominated by industryand have a key role in working collectively to address the skills challenges faced by members of NSAN and representingthe views of the broader industry and its supply chain. The Advisory Board Chair is the employer representative on theNSSG to ensure effective two way dialogue.
The Board of the Company has the fiduciary duty for NSAN and will work to ensure NSAN remains a sustainable andviable company that can effectively deliver the aims and ambitions of the Advisory Board and other members.
