Dear Mr. Kaplinger:
One or more of these parcels currently supports the Wolfs evening primrose (Oenorhtfa wolfii),a potemjal candidate for listi.D.gunder the Endangered Species Act, and potentially sev~ral other
rare or sensitive species. The coastline along Crescent City is one of only a few popultUon
centers for the evening primrose. Restoration of habitat for the species on this PIOP~ couldhelp preclude the need to list the species, or ifit is listed, contribute to future recovery;effortg.

RE: Letter supporting a feasIbility study for the acquisition and restoration of vacantcoastal zone properties 118-020-15, 118-020-21, 118-030-22 & 118-030-23
Dear Directors,
We support the proposal being presented to you by the City of Crescent City, DelNorte County, Californiafor a feasibility study to acquire the above parcels that reside Inthe coastal zone. We would ultimately like to see these privately-held lands acquiredand restored by the city.
Such rare undeveloped parcels deserve public stewardship to sustain open spaceand to restore and conserve sensitive coastal habitat for birds. Facing the documentedloss of wild avian species worldwide, it is critical that our coastal communities protect .
open spaces and habitat areas wherever and whenever possible.
Migratingand residential shorebirds utilize the sandy tidal shoreline on theharbor parcel and songbirds seek shelter In its wetland riparian vegetation as well as inthe cypress tress located on the second parcel near Battery Point Ughthouse. .
We hope you will give this proposal your consideratIon to help the city determinethe best and most important use of this valuable undeveloped land.
