Program Update Ingle Farm Family Zone Our Ingle Farm Family Zone office remains open, despite programs and services being scaled back during the initial stages of COVID-19. We are pleased that we will be able to start reintroducing some of our programs for Term 3. The crèche program will be starting for selected programs and our home visiting program has continued to operate. This has been supported by a team of volunteers who put together book and craft packs for families. We enjoyed the chance to touch base with our team of volunteers at Ingle Farm last week and plan to meet again on August 7. It has been wonderful to reconnect with our volunteers and we look forward to welcoming more of you back to active volunteering over the coming weeks and months. Welcome back! It’s been a few weeks and WOW - have you and your fellow volunteers been working hard. Our op shops are thriving again, our emergency relief programs are continuing to serve the community safely and many of our community visitors have been able to return to facilities to visit their friends. Although a kind of ‘new normal’ has emerged for most of us in SA and NT, the COVID situation continues to impact of daily lives. I know many are still feeling isolated, uneasy and perhaps even sad about things that are happening around us and also in our own individual lives. Please continue to care for each other and remember that we are always here for you at Lutheran Community Care. If you need any sort of support, we are always hear to listen. 2 LCC Volunteer Newsletter #6

A special update for all our valued and treasured volunteers!I trust you are all staying warm, well and enjoying beautiful bouts of winter sunshine as and when it appears.

It has been a very busy month across the organisation for all our programs with many significant activities. Before I share some of this work with you, I would like to take the opportunity to once again say how thankful and appreciative I am for each and every one of you for your efforts and your commitment to our service during this challenging time.

Any organisation is only as good as its people and our people are amazing! I am constantly in awe of the passion and dedication you all have for the work of LCC and most importantly, the children, individuals, families and communities we are here to serve.

This month, a big piece of work completed was the finalisation of the 2020/21 budget. I believe it to be the most financially responsible budget we’ve seen in many years. We have financially structured all our programs in a robust manner and included realistic and transparent costings where appropriate. This body of work will help greatly with future budgets, growth costings and most importantly, the ability to better invest in service delivery.

There has been fast and furious progress towards our NDIS registration and service offering. Karen Harvey continues to lead our charge in this respect. I look forward to providing you with an update on further progress again soon.

Our Winter Appeal has launched with great success. We are well on track to overtake last year’s record donations. A strong story in our donor brochure, combined with a video promotion and some intensive social media promotion, has seen us kick off this appeal well. This on the back of a very successful Lenten Appeal.

What excites me most about the success of our appeals is that it reflects excellent congregational engagement and connection to what we do. We’ve also put together videos to thank volunteers and will look to invest more in video promotion for them in the coming year. We have also invested in ‘Better Impact’, a volunteer specific database to help us continue to increase the support and management of our valuable volunteers.

There continues to be ongoing revisions to the workplace and operations as the restrictions due to COVID-19 begin to be lifted. With restrictions lifting and allowing us to enjoy greater freedom, it presents an opportunity to reflect upon how lucky and blessed we are in both SA and the NT as compared with the rest of the nation.

The past month has also seen the implementation of our strategy refresh. Given the devastating impact caused by bushfires pre and post-Christmas and the global health pandemic, we had the opportunity to refocus our strategic direction and priorities. Ultimately this refresh allows us to better invest in service delivery with the dedication of more resources and to responsibly prepare our organisation for our next phase of growth. There are some very exciting times and initiatives ahead.

There has also been the completion of a number of major tenders, the re-opening of op shops and the transition to a new organisational structure with a change in portfolio responsibilities at executive level.

Again, I thank you all for your wonderful work, dedication and commitment and I look forward to sharing more information soon.

Kind regards, Rohan Feegrade

Facing the future

TOGETHER

Better ImpactWe have some very exciting news! We have just launched Lutheran Community Care’s first centralised volunteer database!

This has been a long time coming and we are eager to share with you just what it can do. From streamlining the new process for applicants to an online portal for existing volunteers, as well as access to the latest LCC volunteer news and updates, and being able to log your volunteer hours on your phone or sign in for your shift automatically when you arrive on site.

This software really is exciting, flexible and fully customisable to our needs. It is also fully secure and only accessible by your volunteer coordinator.

We appreciate that there has been a lot of change around LCC lately and we have been so impressed with the way in which our volunteers have taken this in their stride and continued to work as a team to support those most vulnerable in our communities.

All of these steps help strengthen the work we do and the positive outcomes for our programs and the people we serve every day.
