Registration
There is no registration fee for this course. This course is open to faculty members
from all Engineering Departments of an AKTU affiliated colleges. The participants
should have basic knowledge of engineering domain. Registration includes FDP
material, refreshments, and lunch, (Excluding Accommodation). Short listing and
confirmation of eligible candidates will be on a first come first serve basis.

Transport, Boarding & Lodging
No TA/ DA will be given to the participants for attending this FDP. Accommodation, on first-
come first-serve basis, can be made available at ABES guest house on sharing basis on
payment, and it is subject to availability. Since accommodation is limited, family members of
the participants cannot be accommodated.
Certificate
After successful completion of the course the participants would be awarded 'Completion
Certificate'.

About ABES Engineering College
ABSE Engineering College is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar
Pradesh, Lucknow. ABES EC was established in year 2000 with the objective of providing
education in Engineering and Management. The programs offered by the institute are
various B.Tech, programs, post-graduation program include M.tech, MBA and MCA. The
institute is NAAC accredited and NBA accredited in almost all branches of Engineering. The
institute has received Star Performance Award for Academic Excellence and Certificate of
Appreciation Award from the AKTU. The institute has various Center of Excellences for
professional development of faculty and students.
About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering established in the year 2003 has a capacity of
180 students in the B. Tech programme and along with M. Tech programme with highly
qualified & experienced faculty members from IITs, NITs & abroad having PhD and research
experience. Department has various center of excellence collaboration with industry
experts. For providing more research exposure department has signed MOUs with BITS,
Vizag; MOUs with University of Perpetual Help, Philippines & ICBM, Dhaka is under
process.
Introduction of Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing
Industry 4.0 is a name given to the current trend of automation and data exchange in
manufacturing technologies. It includes cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, cloud
computing and cognitive computing. Industry 4.0 is commonly referred to as the fourth
industrial revolution. The characteristics given for the German government's Industry 4.0
strategy are: the strong customization of products under the conditions of highly flexible
(mass) production. The required automation technology is improved by the introduction of
smart manufacturing methods of self-optimization, self-configuration,self-diagnosis,
cognition and intelligent support of workers in their increasingly complex work.
Objective of The Course
This FDP course is designed to offer learners an introduction to Industry 4.0 (or the Industrial Internet), its applications in the business world. Learners will gain deep insights into how smartness is being harnessed from data and appreciate what needs to be done in order to overcome some of the challenges.1.
