Faith that pleases God

Mark 2:4-5 And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof

where he was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.

When you look at this passage you should ask yourself what stops you from coming to Jesus. There was

sold out sold seats because news spread that Jesus was coming to town, but their faith got them in the

VIP section. If we were in this story carrying the paralytic how many of us would have turned away the

moment we seen the large crowd. How many churches have sold out seats on Sundays? People aren’t

really faithful that much these days. People go almost mad over Super bowl or concert tickets.

Whenever a new movie comes out if you don’t get there early you may not get a seat. Concerts and

sporting events are known for the large sellout crowds and yet the church is full of VIP seats. How many

people would be willing to stand up during an entire church service if there were no seats available? For

the majority of us if we can’t find a place to sit at church then we would probably head home. If we

have to go to work in the morning then we will probably stay home, and God probably says to us O Ye of

little faith.

Jesus was impressed by the faith of the men that brought the paralytic to him on the mat.

It seems that Jesus rarely saw this type of faith to be impressed by it.

Mark 8:12 But he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said “Why does this generation seek a sign?

Mark 9:19 He answered and said “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you?

Mark 6:5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid His hands on a few sick people and

healed them.

Think about this for a moment Jesus the son of God could was limited to doing only a few miracles

because of the people’s lack of faith in his hometown. If you are wandering why your prayers aren’t

been answered it could be because of a lack of faith in your own life. Many people in Jesus day lacked

faith.

The bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God

To have a better understanding of how we get faith think about the online dating scene for a moment.

When you first met someone online they normally will turn down a date in the beginning. Any normal

women wouldn’t dare go out on a date with a stranger she just met unless she knew the person for a

while. A woman wants to know the person isn’t crazy or a serial killer before she moves to the next

stage with someone new. When you date the longer you know the person the more faith you have in

them. Most people will not leave their house keys with someone they just met. Just like most single

mothers aren’t going to bring a stranger around their children until they get to know them. Many of us

wonder why we just don’t believe in God when the reason is because we haven’t taken the time to get

to know him through prayer and bible study. Faith comes through a relationship. You will need to not

only have a relationship but experience things where your faith is tested to develop a stronger

relationship. When military members deploy and leave their spouses behind their faithfulness is tested

when their away. The main reason people have so much unbelief in God is because they haven’t built a

relationship to learn to trust him. In my relationship with God I have been through so many trials I have

learned to trust his faithfulness. There have been times when I wondered where food was coming from

and the doorbell rang and someone brought a whole turkey over. There have been other times when

the groceries ran low, and one of our friends getting ready to move gave us 5 baskets full of food. I

remember when I tried to put the baskets in the back of our car the food was overflowing so much allot

of it fell on the ground. While picking up the spilled food I thought about Luke 6:38 Give and it will be

given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your

lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." There were times when I was worried

about putting gas in the car and in church a lady we never met before gave my family a one hundred

dollar bill as a gift. As you go through things and walk with God he will build your faith.

Mathew 17:18-20 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him: and the child was cured from

that very hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”

So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a

mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there,’ and it will move: and nothing will

be impossible for you.

If Jesus disciples who physically seen him perform many miracles struggled with unbelief then what

makes us thing we are any different. If you have ever seen a mustard seed it is very small, I think Jesus is

trying to tell us most people don’t even have a little faith. A mustard seed is very minute but it grows

into a large tree. A seed needs to be watered and have sunlight to grow. If our faith is a seed and we

are not watering it, the seed will die no matter how much light Christ shines on it. We need to water

our seed of faith through reading the word and praying to God.

The women who touched Jesus the bible says he Jesus felt the power go out of him. True faith activates

miracles and healing. This women’s faith was so strong it not only impressed Jesus put the power went

out from him because of her faith. If you desire for the faith that pleases God then continue to read his

word and pray daily.
