I do not like animal because

some other animal might eat

each other. Tigers eats dears

and foxes eat chicken. Cats eat

mice and spiders eat moth. Li-

ons eat mice just like cats. Kill-

er whale eat fishes for break-

fast, lunch, snack, dinner, and

supper.

I want to be a rainbow dragon

because all animals are scared

of a dragon. Another animal I

want to be a whale shark be-

cause the whale shark is the se-

- Ai Ying Huang -

I like animals. I think about

being a kitten. I want to be a

furry kitten and I want to be a

small kitten. I think it’s cute and

they are nice. They are as soft as

toys.

I will play with my mom. I

would eat as much as I can. I

will eat cat food and share with

my mom. I can meow and run

with four legs.

cond biggest animal in the sea.

Also number 2 is my lucky num-

ber. Another animal I want to be

is a dinosaur because it has sharp

teeth. Another reason is because I

like to see other dinosaurs.

- Anson Vuong-

I want to go to Japan. I will bring

Hao, Raymond, and my friend

Johnny because they are my very

best friends. Japan has many fun

things and fun stuff to buy like

Pokemon games, Yugioh, and all

that stuff. I want to go to Tokyo,

because I want to buy stuff.

BEGINNING

S e l e c t e d r e s p o n s e s

Do you like animals? Do you sometimes wonder what it would to be like

an animal? Write about the type of animal you would like to be, why you

want to be that kind of animal, and what would you do as an animal.

will bring my mom and my two

cousins. I will bring some presents

to my old friends in China. I will go

eat my favorite breakfast. I will go to

a store that is small to eat eggs. I will

go swimming with my cousins. My

cousins and I will teach my mom

how to swim.

- Yvonne Chu -

I want o go to Rome. I would bring

my mom and my 2 brothers. I want

to go because I want to see the

Coliseum. I would also go to Venus,

Italy. I would bring my mom and my

2 brothers. I want to ride in a

gondola. I would buy a souvenir.

- Sophia Lin -

I want to go to China because I want

to visit my grandparents. I want to

visit my cousins at China and my

friends. I want to go there because

- Tiffany Phan -

I would go to Sea World, because it is

fun. There are wonderful animals. I

love the dolphins. I would bring my

best friends, Kelly and Joyce. I would

also bring my mom, because I love

my mom and my friends would make

it funner. We went there and it was

so fun! I love to go to Sea World! I’ll

go there next time.

- Jasmine Li -

I want to go to Canada with my

family, because I want to visit my

aunt in Canada. I want to go out with

her to the mall and shop. I want to go

to Australia, because I want to visit

my mom’s best friend.

- Ai Ying Huang -

I want to go to China because I was

born in China. I want to visit China. I

my grandparents’ house is big. I will

take my dad and mom with me. I will

take my cousins if they want to visit

my grandparents. I will bring chocolate

with me so I won’t get hungry. I am

going to bring some presents to my

grandparents. I will have lots of fun in

China.

- Jeffrey Liu-

Once when I was playing outside with

my 3 best friends we met a spirit. He

will teleport us to any place we want.

We wanted to go to ancient Egypt.

Then he said, no. We kept on begging

to go there. Finally, he said yes. Then

he disappeared and we went to ancient

Egypt. It was all dry and hot. When it

was one hour, we went back to my

house. We had a lot of fun. We

wanted to go there again, but we can’t.

Where would you want to go for vacation?

Three things I want to change is make

books interesting to read, children read

books, and make the floor clean. I want

to make book interesting to read, be-

cause children and/or adult can read

them. Make children read book because

they can be good at writing or a test and

more. I think people should clean the

floor, so people will not step on yuck

stuff. So the floor will not get slippery.

- Sylvia Son -

I would change high taxes to low be-

cause people don’t have enough money

to pay. I would change no money to go

to school because kids want to get an

education. The kids would want a bet-

ter job than their parents. I would want

more jobs that are available because

some people are unemployed. The peo-

ple want to make a living.

- Dang Lam -

If I could change three things, the first

thing I will change is tax. Tax is good

for the government but it is the bad

things for people. When you buy

everything, you have to pay tax; it is

too expensive. I just have one thing to

change. Everything is good.

- Diane Lam -

One of the thing is to stop crime

because it brings least money to the

United States. Another thing is to

make America a better place because I

feel sad for the poor. The last thing is

to make everybody have a good

president because a good president

makes a good world. These are the

three things I want.

- Johnny Nguyen -

The first thing I would change is the taxes. The taxes have made many peo-ple unemployed. The second thing I would change is the economy. The last thing I would change is the environ-ment. The roads are filled with pot-holes and other dangers.

- Tony Pho -

I would want to recycle more things and people need to clean up after themselves. People need to stop pol-luting the air and don’t kill the forest or we don’t get air. And people need to be nice to each other.

- David Phung - I will change to no more toxic stuff. Also no more bad people. Even no more terrorism.

If you could change three things about America, what would they be?

I wish to have a dog because dogs are

very fun to play. Then the dog could be

my guard dog. Then I would take it for

a walk. I could be very cool to pot it.

Then it could protect me.

I wish also to have a car. I wish to have

a car because I could drive anywhere. I

could also take my dog with me. I

could also go very fast. I will be cool.

I could also use my iPod for music. I

could also play games. I could use it for

the internet. It would be very fun. It

would also be very cool.

- Rosanna Liu -

My first wish is for money. I want to

buy a golden car, a diamond, rubies,

-Emily Huang-

A multicultural society means different

kinds of people. There are all different

kinds of languages that people speak.

Some people speak Chinese, Vietnamese,

Spanish and more. Some are even Indian

and American.

- Rosanna Liu -

I like the Vietnamese culture because my

mom came from it. Most of my relatives

are Vietnamese. They know many stuff

around the world that I don’t know

about. This is why I like to learn

different cultures.

- Johnny Nguyen -

I love the multicultural environment. It

allows me to make different friends.

and a mansion because it will show

everyone I’m rich and I’m going to be in

articles, magazines and on a newspaper. I

want to be rich and famous, because I

want people to know me better than ever.

My second wish is to get into college. I

want to go to UCLA because I heard that

was a good college. When I finish college,

I will be a lawyer, because a lawyer is a

very hard thing to do and I like challenges.

My third wish is to get a phone. I want a

phone that has a slide up text phone. My

friend My is going to get one in

December. I am also getting it in

December. I want a phone because when I

move I can text her.

Those are my wishes but they never came

true. I hope it does.

S e l e c t e d r e s p o n s e s

America is often called a multicultural “melting pot” of cultures and languages

from around the world, because Americans can trace their families to across the

globe. What does living in a multicultural society mean to you?

If you had three wishes for anything you wanted, what would you wish for?

left.

Last, you will have some people working for you. You won’t need to waste time doing menial things.

So, in conclusion, being famous is really cool. You have people working for you. You have a lot of money. And there are many awesome opportunities.

-Kitty Lu-

I would not want to be famous even if I had an opportunity to. Fame is not a good thing to have. You may even not get your private life because of the paparazzi, that will follow you everywhere. When you’re famous and you sign a contract to work for a company, you have to do everything that they say.

Having fame is just the same as having

S e l e c t e d r e s p o n s e s

paparazzi following you everywhere, not giving you your private life. You may want to spend time with your family but you can’t. When you just have a cup of coffee with a friend the paparazzi can make a big lie and many people would want to have an interview with them to see if it’s true.

When you sign a contract with a company, you have to follow their instructions. You don’t get to express what you want to. You have to perform where they tell you to. If you want to quit, you have to wait for the contract to be over.

People who want to be famous will say that they can earn a lot of money being famous. In response, I would say that money won’t get you your family members or friends. You’ll only find friends that want your money.

ADVANCED PROMPT: Do you want fame? Some people spend their entire lives seeking the rewards of

fame and fortune. Others shy away from the spotlight due to the downsides of being a celebri-

ty. If you had the opportunity, would you want to be famous? Why or why not?

-Timothy Jou-

I think fame is a very good thing. Fame can take you to amazing places. You can also help the needy. Being famous can be awesome.

The first reason is that you can do whatever you like. For example, you can help kids in need. Kids in need will thank you very much. You have a lot of money, so you can do a lot of good with it. Doing good can also get you good publicity.

The next reason is that a lot of people will like you. You can talk and get along with other famous people. A lot of people will also know you.

The last reason is that you have a lot of money. You can buy all the stuff you ever wanted. And you will still have money

Page 7: Fall 2010 Newsletter

like that people can be like that and bully and kill people. This is one reason why I don’t recommend violent shows.

Also, when people watch violent shows, they can adapt to the things people do. People on shows like that fight a lot and do physical things. When people fight it can cause deaths or injuries. Also, when people do physical action things it can cause the same things, which are bad deeds. Violent things are bad because it can cause harm.

The people that watch more violent

- Jenny Gip -

I agree to the fact that television violence promotes violence. I agree to it because when people see the violent shows or movies. They want ot do those things. The things people can do can cause problems or deaths. People who watch it can adapt to it and cause physical problems.

When people are watching violence on shows or movies. People might want to be like them and do bad things people do on television. Violent shows or movies can show killing or bullying. If there are shows

shows tend to murder people. Since on some violent shows people kill and murder, so when people watch it and want to be cool, they would do anything. They would murder, kill, hurt and other things. Murdering and killing are really big situations it is bad.

These are some reasons why I do not recommend violent shows or movies. People getting hurt and dying are bad, so it is a bad deed. If many people die, the world’s future can change, and it is going to be very sad.

aren’t can’t just because they aren’t famous. It’s sad because you can make money, you could do pretty much whatever you want, and more. Being famous isn’t everything you ca live a normal life and still have an exciting life without the fame.

If I had the opportunity, I probably would because money is in a tight budget, so if you audition and pass, you’ll be in movies, magazines, and more and will make tons of money. But at the same time I would keep things normal, because why would you want paparazzi following and stalking you, and finding out all your secrets when you could have a normal life without that. When that opportunity comes and you make it, your life will change and you don’t have a personal life anymore.

-Wendy Luong-

Fame can be the most amazing thing to someone, but fame isn’t everything. When you go shopping nobody really cares if someone famous is going then they care. Some people work their entire life just to be famous. Being famous means making a lot of money, but that means your personal life is gone. If you’re going shopping or something there’s always going to be paparazzi following oyu wherever you go. If you’re not famous, you can make decent money, and people won’t follow you around.

Do I want fame? Well that depends. In my opinion, fame isn’t everything. Fame is like you have no privacy anymore. Sometimes I feel like just because they are famous they can do whatever they want and the people that

I’m against this because: you won’t have a private life anymore, there always going to be paparazzi around you, people stalking you, flashing their cameras in your face. If you are a good singer, they expect you to have a new album every year and if you fail they will make fun of you. There is always going to be pressure if you are famous. If you’re a famous dancer, people expect you to get all the moves perfect and if you fail, people will be disappointed.

So, you should think about being famous because your life and secrets will soon be known by everybody and you don’t have a personal life anymore. If you’re planning and wanting to be famous, you should think about it and think what’s going to happen when you become famous.

S e l e c t e d r e s p o n s e s

Many people believe that television violence has a negative effect

on society because it promotes violence. Do you agree or disagree?
