challenges to grow in all the facets of health and wellness.”

When she isn’t spending time with friends or family, you can find Charity taking one of her favorite Group Ex classes. She couldn’t wait to start teaching as well. As for Joe, he’s often outside, enjoying trail running, hiking, skiing, golf and other outdoor activities. Joe enjoys training using the TRX suspension trainer for body weight (relative) strength, and from a functional perspective, works on movements necessary for every day activities and athleticism.

Both Charity and Joe highly recommend personal training for anyone at any level of fitness. Joe says, “Personal training has evolved so much in the last few years. The personal trainer of today can really be a life coach.” When your body feels strong and it works well, and when you are setting and achieving goals, so many other facets of life can seem to fall right into place. Both Joe and Charity are in the club full time, and welcome any member with questions to shoot them an email or stop by for a chat: [email protected] and [email protected].

“I LOVE THE COMMUNITY FEELING, YOU CAN FEEL THIS VIBE AS YOU WALK AROUND THE CLUB.” — CHARITY HUNT

“PERSONAL TRAINING HAS EVOLVED SO MUCH IN THE LAST FEW YEARS. THE PERSONAL TRAINER OF TODAY CAN REALLY BE A LIFE COACH.” — JOE SUPPES

Planning for HFAC’s long-term success means both developing our existing employee team and, when needed, hiring top outside talent. In addition to the “Hungry, Humble & Smart” qualities championed by Patrick Lencioni’s book, The Ideal Team Player, I look for leaders with two specific qualities: a passion for working at this unique club in our amazing Hillsboro community, and someone who inspires as an example of commitment to health in a way that supports our core value of welcoming all levels of fitness at all stages of life.

We are local family-owned business that also considers ourselves a family. I am so proud of each of our employees and honored to work with them. With that, I am pleased to share with you some recent team leadership promotions and new additions.

Jordan Eubanks, Evening Supervisor and Manager on Duty Program Lead Jordan worked at this location under prior ownership, and joined Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club when we opened in 2015. Jordan has consistently grown over our years together, showing initiative, dependability, intelligence and wonderful spirit. Recently, Jordan was promoted to Evening Supervisor, partnering with Rick as the leaders of HFAC’s Manager on Duty program. Having a young professional like Jordan on the team is a General Manager’s dream, and I am incredibly excited to watch him continue to flourish.

Rick Kinoshita, Membership Manager Rick joined the HFAC family as both a morning opener and membership representative in 2017. Throughout this time, he also worked as a DJ and well-known radio personality for The Wolf. This August he announced his retirement from radio after a highly successful 44-year career, allowing him to accept the demanding and crucial position of Membership Manager for Hawthorn Farm. To share all of Rick’s strengths would fill 10 newsletters, to know him is to understand. If you have not yet had the opportunity to meet Rick, please come on by the Membership Office and join us in congratulating him.

into the club with changes big and small. Most recently, HFAC proudly launched an updated web page at www.hfac.com. This upgrade, along with Quarterly Newsletters like this one and the Weekly Wednesday e-mail newsletter, demonstrate our ongoing commitment to effective communication in this modern time where we are all bombarded with information.

As Hillsboro’s local independent club, it is exactly this kind of strategic growth, constant improvement and investment in strong business foundations that we believe will allow HFAC to thrive for generations to come.

How do we set our priorities? In addition to extensive business experience and constant learning from industry sources, we really listen to the feedback we get every day. Further, once a year we do a member survey. Last November nearly 600 members participated, and this November we are setting a member participation goal of 1000! Please help us achieve this goal and keep an eye out for Annual Member Feedback Survey notices starting Nov. 1.

Speaking of improvements: our next investment will indeed be in the weight room and functional training areas. We know many are anxious for these changes. We ask for patience as we commit to a thoughtful process allowing for research, planning and plenty of community input. At HFAC, we don’t throw money at bling that doesn’t best serve our members. We take our responsibility for investing dues seriously, and look for long-term, effective solutions.

Not all changes the club experiences are easy. This fall, we send several beloved long-term employees off to college. Other team members have moved out of the area or on to new business ventures. While we will miss everyone, we cherish and are proud of being a part of people’s professional development. All we have to do is look at all the current members who once worked at HFAC and know it is often not goodbye, but just see you later. To those headed on new adventures, please come see us when you are back in town!

Charity Hunt, Director of Wellness Programming (see article) I’m not sure I’ve ever received as many unsolicited references for a job candidate as I did for Charity Hunt when our Wellness Programming position opened up this summer. Welcoming such a respected and well-known member of the local fitness community to Hawthorn Farm was a pleasure. More information on Charity can be found in the newsletter article with Personal Trainer, Joe Suppes.

Tim Maxwell, Director of Operations It’s not everyday you meet a professional like Tim Maxwell. In addition to more than 25 years of experience in Fitness Aquatics and management, Tim has a life-long thirst for learning and a deep interest in people that has resulted in, among other accomplishments, his obtaining graduate degrees in theology and psychology. I’ve been privileged to work with Tim previously in my career and know first-hand the maturity and skill he is bringing to Hawthorn Farm.
