ABOUT OUR PROGRAMThe mission of the Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing is to prepare professional nurses to improve the well being of complex and diverse populations. Our curriculum is aimed at educating advance practice nurse leaders who, through research, policy, and practice promote the health and wellbeing of local, national and international communities so that all people can thrive. In doing so, it underscores our geographic and institutional strengths to prepare nursing prospects.

Submit $35 application fee at www.tamiu.edu/gradschool. ($25 late fee)
A valid unencumbered RN license without restrictions in the State of Texas.
Evidence of a minimum of one year of work experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year of inpatient nursing experience.
Evidence of a baccalaureate nursing degree from a nationally accredited college or university.
Evidence of successful completion of an undergraduate statistics course.
Official transcripts identifying a minimum grade point average of 2.7 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for all college work and a 3.0 in all upper division courses (Nursing).
A personal interview may be required during the application process. Three academic and professional references indicating achievement and motivation for graduate study.
Required immunizations and criminal/drug screening data must be submitted via verified credentials. Please contact the program director to learn about additional program requirements. Applications are only accepted for the fall terms. Applications will continue to be accepted until all available spaces are filled, May 31 is the priority deadline
ABOUT OUR FACULTYWe view nursing as a partnership between the student and the faculty. The Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing faculty have a broad range of backgrounds, experiences and areas of expertise to assist you in your journey to professional practice. Many of our faculty are advanced practice nurses and most hold specialty certification in various areas of nursing specialization.
