With winter basketball in full swing on the courts of the Gulf Breeze Sports As- sociation, there is one set of twins who are taking the courts by storm. Cole- man and Chandler Burtt. This however, is not just a hobby for these two aspir- ing professional athletes. “I really would like to play professionally one day,” says Chandler who aver- ages 20 points per game. His brother Coleman could not agree more. “Since we both play football also, we are re- ally se- rious about doing this for a career.” Last week- e n d Cole- man led with scoring and rebounding in their weekly game in the 11/12 year old divi- sion. When asking where they would want to play in col- lege, both are in agreement. If football then Florida State University and if basket- ball then Duke. For fa- vorite basketball players, Chandler picked Lebron James and Coleman choose T J Chandler. Folks, this is a duo to keep you eye on for not just the rest of basketball season, but also for the 2013 foot- ball season. www.FamilySportingNetwork.com Player Profiles: Coleman and Chandler Burtt of Gulf Breeze Sports Association Pensacola Beach Run pg 2 Pictures of Football Finals pg 3 Pictures of Football Finals pg 4 Hunter’s Corner pg 5 Kid’s Corner pg 6 What’s Inside: Taking a Look at the Character Shown during the GCYSA Football Finals Volume 1 Issue 2 January 7 -- Janary 21, 2012 25 cents Although it has been nearly five weeks ago, there, to this point, has not been much press, if any, regard- ing the future collegiate and professional athletes that sweated and worked their hearts out Decem- ber 8 during the Gulf Coast Youth Sports Alliance’s football championships. by Jim Taylor

The 2013 gun season is well un-derway and, so far, the numbers of deer harvested in Northwest Flori-

da and South Alabama seem to be running behind from previous years. One reason for this is likely due to the extremely hot weather we have had of late. The good news is that we are now starting to get a few days of cold weather. Additional-ly, due to recent rain, the food plots that had to be planted late be-cause of drought have now started to really produce a lot of green-ery. On top of that

good news, doe days have started in Northwest Florida, which will allow hunters to put a little meat in their freezers.

If your luck runs anything like mine has in the past years, you will actually see more bucks than does during these days. For you tro-phy hunters, just hold on for about three more weeks and the Janu-ary rut will kick off in Northwest Florida and South Alabama. The really big bucks that we seldom see in daylight will have their mind on something else and they can get a little careless. This is the time you will want to spend all day in the woods. Look for rubs and scrape lines. Also, look for where smaller trails cross larger deer trails and for buck droppings (they will be clumped and not scattered). Now, I am going to let you in on one of my well-kept secrets about

deer attractants. As we know, most of them are made to sell and just don’t work. However, I am going to tell you about one product that I have had outstanding success with, both as a drag (scent cover) and as an attractant. This scent is called Harmon Triple Heat and it has produced several trophies for me in January and during the late-season muzzle loader hunts in February in Northwest Florida. I have used this scent in the Janu-ary and February ruts, along with a can doe bleat, which has worked very well for me. I wish you all a very Happy New Year and great success the rest of this hunting season – and many more.
